1. Chapter 1

“My name is Yura,” I said to the man standing in front of me. He was holding a clipboard and ticked my name off his list.

“Next,” the man said. I started to walk back to my room alone. I have one friend here, wherever here is. I along with nine hundred and ninety-nine other kids are stuck here on an island in the middle of no-where. We each get two meals a day but that’s only if we do as we’re told and they’re quite small too.

“Yura, Yura,” I turned around to see Seareanna calling to me from where she stood underneath a tree with a few other kids. She waved me over. Rolling my eyes, I reluctantly started to make my way over to her. “Yura, we need your help,” Seareanna said as I reached her and the others.

“What do you need my help with?” I asked. I just really want to get to go back to going to my room. The last thing I need is to get into trouble with the authoritatives.

“Okay, so there’s this boat coming in tomorrow at eleven sharp. All the guards are going to help unload so they won’t notice us sneaking out of our rooms and walking down to the shore. From there we are going to swim to the other side of the boat, sneak on and hide until we arrive back on land.” Seareanna explained.

“So, wait, you are going to escape, I get that. But what part do I play in this, or are just wasting my time?” I said feeling quite aggravated as I put my hands in my jacket pockets. How stupid are they? It won’t be that easy to escape. The authoritatives aren’t stupid enough to have all the guards unloading the cargo. On top of that, we are locked in at nine sharp, so how are they planning on getting out?

“Well we hear that you have snuck out a few times before and that you know how to fight, so we were wonder…”

“You want me to sneak out of my own room and let you out,” I interrupted her.

“And fight any guard that may come our way,” Seareanna said grinning like she just won some grand prize.

“So, a body guard to,” I said in disbelief. I cannot believe this girl. She has no idea just how much trouble I’m going to get into for sneaking out and she has the nerve to ask me the unthinkable.

“Look we’ll be waiting in our rooms at 10:30 pm, if you don’t come we’ll know your answer, and I’ll tell everyone about why you don’t live in the dorms with everyone else,” she sneered at me then handed me a piece of paper. ”Don’t be late,” Seareanna smiled then walked off with her friends close behind. What am I going to do? Either way I’m in trouble. Sighing I put the piece of paper she gave me into my pocket, not bothering to look at it and headed to my room with one question on my mind. How does she know why I’m not allowed to live in the dorms? Why I live with five guards guarding outside my bedroom, why I am so kept away. No-one and I mean no-one is meant to know about it. What am I going to do?

Arriving at my room the guards parted for me to go through. One even opened the door for me. Thanking him I went in and went straight to my desk where I sat down and pulled out the piece of paper Seareanna gave me and put it on my desk. Sighing, I put my elbows on my desk and held my head in my hands. What to do, what to do. If I go along with the plan I’m in trouble but on the other hand if I don’t go I’m still in trouble.

“Gaaa, what am I going to do. Thinking about it hurts my brain,” I groaned in frustration. This would be a lot easier if I weren’t so important to the authoritatives. I just wanna be normal. Either way I should work out the best course of action.

Man, what a day it has been, I had to break up a fight in my dorm again. It’s the third time this week. Can’t those imbeciles do anything other than fight, I mean people do need their beauty sleep. Who wants to spend their every waking hour having to break up fights that start for the most stupid reasons. Sighing I laid down on my bed and looked up at the ceiling. It doesn’t matter, now I can finally get some rest and drift off to my own special place far away from this stinking rotten island. Although if I had to leave I’d take Yura, my Yura. Yura’s my best friend but lately I feel something around her. I can’t say for sure I know what it is, but I know I like it. I mean it’s sort of a happy feeling, she makes me want to smile every time I see her, and my heart tends to beat faster as well. Maybe the stress is getting to me and I’m just imaging things. I hope not. Then there is the case of what I overheard her and Seareanna talking about. Will Yura do it and if she does will she go with them? What am I going to do if she does? Most of all what did Seareanna mean by Yura not staying in the dorms with the other girls? Is my best friend hiding something or is it that Seareanna is just making up lies? She does it often, so it wouldn’t surprise me.

Just as I was about to drift off to sleep I heard a knocking on my door and couldn’t help but wondering who it was as it quite close to lights out. Getting up I opened my dorm door and was surprised to see Yura standing there, looking beautiful as she always does.

“I’m sorry, I know it’s already late but, may I speak with you? it’s important and before you ask, yes I already have permission to be here,” she rushed the words out.

“Sure, of course,” I said closing the door behind her. We both sat down on my bed and I waited for her to start talking. I had a good feeling that this was going to be about what Seareanna said and wanting my intake on the whole thing. This is gonna take a while.

I hope Yura does come tomorrow. I didn’t want to have to resort to blackmailing her, but the situation called for it. At eleven thirty they are gonna send us in one by one and kill us off. That’s what me and Fenny overheard the guards saying. They said that we are no longer useful to them, so they are gonna get rid of us all. Yura has a reputation for rebelliance against them though I doubt she would do so now with how much trouble I’m sure she got into. The punishment methods here are horrific. They torture us into obeying them, to make sure we all stay in line and do as we’re told. I want to save as many as I can, but I can’t save everyone. There is only six of us if you include Yura and Hemrick of which I’m sure she’ll bring along. Then you have me, Fenny, Isla and Gen short for Genifer. That’s two boys and four girls. We’re small but it’s the only chance we have of escaping. If we have too big of a group the authorities will find out and just kill us on the spot, of which I don’t want to happen.

Yura is our last and final hope. I really hope she decides to help us. We can’t do it without her. If she doesn’t show we’re goners. Never to live again. Never to fall in love. Never to grow old and grey. We will never have the chance to live the life that is rightfully ours to live. Dammit I don’t wanna die.
