9. Chapter Eight

Piero and Nayelli's date was tonight. Nayelli was so nervous. She was in her room getting ready. She had gone through half of her wardrobe and couldn't decide what to wear.

Finally, she decided on a short fuchsia strapless dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. She stood in front of her full length mirror examining herself. Her hair reached just below her shoulder blades and splayed out in curls down her back. Her makeup was simple and natural with only a bit of foundation and mascara to highlight her eyes. She smiled content with her look and applied a small coat of pink lipstick to her lips. As soon as she placed the lip gloss down on her vanity, the doorbell rang. She slipped on her matching light colored heels and went to open the door.

Piero stood nervously on Nayelli's front porch. He twiddled with the rose in his hands. He had been a nervous wreck all day. He practically had to force himself to stay at home and not show up at her door the first thing in the morning. Even though they had just seen each other the day before, he still felt as if she had been away from him for decades. He kept his mind racing with thoughts and images of Nayelli all day long. He couldn't help it, he was in love. Okay, so maybe it wasn't love yet, but it was definitely a sensation and emotions he had never felt before. She did things to him that he couldn't explain. She complimented and completed him in every way.

Nayelli opened the door slowly and smiled softly at him. Piero's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. She was so beautiful. Words could not describe the amazing person who stood in front of him. His throat dried and his palms started sweating.

"Hi," She said shyly.

He smiled wide and took her in his arms in a tight embrace. He could smell her intoxicating scent and it drove him wild. She was so perfect to him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her closer to him. He nuzzled his nose in her hair and inhaled. He closed his eyes for a second. Their bodies fit together so perfectly and as Nayelli wrapped her slender arms around him and snuggled close, he felt at home. It was a sensation so foreign to him, but one he could get used to.

Nayelli's stomach irrupted in a million butterflies. Their wings flapped feverishly and made her feel warm and safe in his arms.

The embrace seemed to last forever and neither of them wanted to let go.

Piero was the first to pull away but he kept her at arms length.

"You look beautiful." He spoke softly. Nayelli blushed and smiled. And they were off.

Dinner had been amazing. Piero had made a reservation for two at The Fort, one of the fanciest restaurants in Morrison Colorado. They had a magnificent meal and even better conversation. They laughed, joked and talked like they'd known each other for years. It was comfortable and intimate.

They were walking down the buzzing street holding hands and talking. They walked past a Jazz bar and Piero stopped. He turned to Nayelli and smiled mischievously.

She laughed as he dragged her through the front doors of the bar and straight to the dance floor. He wrapped his arms around her waist and Nayelli's arms went around his neck. They pressed themselves close and began to move to the soft beat of the jazz band. They danced three slow songs while staring into each other's eyes. No words were spoken, they weren't necessary. They both felt confident and at peace with each other. After the fourth song ended, the band switched to a more upbeat number with loads of saxophone and rhythm.

They smiled and easily incorporated themselves into the beat.

They twirled, came together then apart. They danced the night away and after the last song of the band, Piero took her into his arms and brushed her hair back from her face.

"You're so beautiful." He whispered catching his breath. He leaned down and connected their lips.

Time stood still, the people and everything around them disappeared. There was nothing and no one else but them. Piero's grip on Nayelli's waist tightened and their kiss deepened. Nayelli pulled him closer by his neck and ran her hands through his hair. She craved his body, his warmth, his scent. The passion and electricity between them was flammable. If they continued like that, they would soon burn the club to the ground.

They pulled back slowly but remained in each other's arms. They stared into each other's eyes as if in a trance. Piero traced small circles on her hipbones and nuzzled his nose against hers.

She smiled warmly. "Can I kiss you again?" Piero said, leaning in close.

She didn't reply, instead, she leaned up and met his lips in a hungry yet tender kiss.
