*Unedited Chapter...*

The liquor store was oddly quiet for a place supposedly crawling with shady men. Well, I didn’t mind. In and out. Quick service. Hopefully, the salesperson finds pity on me, after all . . .

My father was among the top-ten best Pastry Chef of the year, and for his accomplishment, I decided to give him something he surely will enjoy. A Jamaica Appleton Rum. However, upon seeing the diverse types I was having an utter meltdown.

Maybe a help was somewhere around.

I dragged on my knapsack straps and proceed down the aisle.

“Hello.”

“Anyone?”

Don’t tell—

“How did you get in here?”

From the aisle on my right-side, someone stepped out, startling me, and blocking my path.

I stumbled backwards.

Oh, my!

What a good-looking person!

Was she hiding?

“It’s only polite to respond when asked a question,” said the stranger.

How else did she think I got in here, if not through the door?

“The door was open.”

“Damn! I thought I closed it. Good thing you aren’t . . . wait . . .”

I panicked and before I knew it words began sprouting from my mouth.

“I know I am underage and not allowed here . . .” I swallowed when she walked towards me.

“This is strange. You’re not asking for an autograph or screaming.”

Autograph? Screaming?

“You . . . don’t know about me.”

“I am supposed to?”

“Look carefully.” The girl bridged our gap and grabbed my shoulders. “You don’t know about me, do you?”

Ever heard about personal space?

I gritted my teeth and stepped out of her grasp. “Should I?”

“This is a new development. Tell me . . .” She stepped forward again “. . . on your way in, did you see a group of people lingering outside?”

“What?”

The girl evaluated me.

“You really don’t know who I am.”

“Sorry.”

“I am Yuli Lars, thee top model.”

What was with the emphasises? I hadn’t found anything that threatened to have me smile in a long time.

I looked at her straight-faced. “Is that so?”

She was a celebrity.

Judging by appearance, it seemed possible. She certainly had ‘that’ look.

“You really don’t know.”

“I don’t.”

“Maybe I have not put in enough effort. You don’t read magazines, do you?” She leaned in, causing me to slightly bend backwards.

“Not enough to know who you are, apparently.”

“Interesting.”

Her voice. It was not exotic or mysterious. It was clear like a bell, yet also deep and comforting, like a gentle breeze blowing through my soul.

“Why do you want to buy liquor, especially in uniform? It goes against school policy, right?” Yuli asked this without taking a single step back from me.

I was uneasy with her being so close. It made me lightheaded and nauseous.

“Tell me why you need. Get drunk with your friends? Buying for a boyfriend?” Her eyebrow raised.

“It’s to congratulate my father on his accomplishment.”

“Oh?”

She looked surprised by my answer and for some reason, I felt insulted.

“In that case, I’ll make a special exception because I am interested in you.”

I blinked. “What!?”

“Be mine!” She demanded bluntly.

“Eh?”

“The one who is willing to break the law for you has the right to expect that much as a reward, don’t I?”

“Reward?”

How could she say things like this aloud? How could she say it so easily? More importantly . . . how could she say it to me . . . someone she didn’t know?

“You do not have a boyfriend.”

“No.”

“Girlfriend then?” Her smirk was too obvious to ignore.

I snored. Discomfort surged through me.

“. . . never mind the rum. It’s time for me to be on my way,” I said hastily, needing to put distance between me and this odd person.

Yuli grabbed me. “You’re scared because you never had someone come-on to you?”

“Let go!”

“Or is it you never had one who does it this bluntly? And a girl at that?”

My anxiety level was rising!

“I said let go!”

“Even though you say so, it only makes me want to hold on more.”

“You’re nuts!”

“You think so?” She licked her lips with a smirk. My breathing slowed. “Your face is red. Does this situation embarrass you?”

More like shock me.

Yuli wrapped my tie with the school name printed on it—around her palm.

“I just decided to take it upon myself and have my reward now.”

Before I could grasp the situation at hand . . . a strange person, who I just met, mouth captured my lips suddenly. I could not believe what was happening.

A kiss?

My first kiss!

I could not breathe.
