Moving Along |A.I.

"You did this to me Ash. You made me who I am today. You made this little human growing inside of me. You went and decided to be with someone else. You basically just gave up your right to tell me what to do with my child. You are not in our lives anymore." The hardest part of my entire life was kicking the love of my life out of my life.

I walked into mom's house and looked around. She had some new artwork hanging up, but she still had one picture, that she always loved, hanging above one of the couches. It was of me and Ash at my senior prom. It was beautiful, and I remembered that night perfectly...

I smoothed out my new red dress. It was simple, but it was perfect for prom. I didn't think I would be going to prom alone, but I was. Ashton was on tour with his band all the way in London, and I was stuck here in L.A. doing school. I barely saw him anymore... and he was supposed to come today but got dragged into promo. I sighed and fixed my hair before going down the stairs with my best friend Katy. She was the popular girl. She had perfect blonde hair, the perfect body, and icy blue eyes. Every boy was falling at her feet and every girl wanted to be just like her. Me, I was normal. I have dirty blonde hair, green eyes, and I am skinny but not as skinny as Katy.

"Pose girls!" Mom said, getting her camera ready. We smiled and did the popular prom pose before laughing. She had on a flowing white prom dress that made her look kinda like a swan. We ran out of the house after the pictures before walking down the street to the school. She smiled at me before grabbing my hand and started running into the school, towards the gym.

"What are you doing?!" I yelled, laughing as I tried to keep up with her.

"There's a surprise!" She yelled back before dragging me in the gym. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. There was silver and black balloons everywhere, there was fairy lights everywhere and a band was setting up on the stage. I looked around some more and saw a long table with food and drinks, smaller round tables against one wall with mini balloons and flowers as centerpieces. The music started playing and Katy dragged me to the dance floor. After a few songs, Katy ran away from me and ran up onto the stage.

"Hey guys! Sorry to interrupt the nice prom experience, but I have a question. Has anyone heard of the band 5 Seconds of Summer?" she paused as a lot of people screamed. "Okay good. Now Ashton Irwin, the drummer for anyone who doesn't know, is a very special person to my friend and I. He is super nice, and super talented. I am so happy that my best friend met Ash one day and is now dating him. Athena, please come up here." I immediately gave her a look before going past everyone and going onto the stage. "Close your eyes." I looked at her, rolled my eyes before closing them. I heard her shush everyone and I was starting to get scared. I heard footsteps and my heart started beating faster. I felt familiar arms wrap around my waist before feeling breath on my cheek.

"Hey beautiful." I immediately recognized his voice and my eyes popped open and I turned around, feeling tears fill my eyes as I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his lips. I pulled my face away before looking up into his bright, hazel eyes. My boy is here...

"I love you Ashton." I whispered, smiling.

"I love you most." he whispered back before pulling me closer and kissing me again softly

*Present Day*

"Mom, why do you still have that picture?" I asked, setting Cadence's stuff on the couch.

"It's beautiful and it reminds me of how lucky I was to get my grandson." she said, walking into the living room as she held Cadence on her hip.

"I have to see him tonight." I said, sitting down on the couch. "That's why I can only stay a few minutes. I have to go to the stadium before soundcheck."

"Oh babe... Can't someone else take your shift?"

"No. I already tried, but apparently I'm the best at making the guests feel welcomed."

"Good luck. Just try not to kill him. You don't want to leave Cadence fatherless."

"He already is. Ashton is not his father. He does not deserve to feel this happiness. He does not deserve to know Cadence."

"But Cadence deserves to know who his father is." I looked over at Cadence, who was playing on the floor with his toys.

"I have to go." I said, getting up and going over to Cadence. I sat down on the floor and pulled him onto my lap. "Alright baby boy. I have to go. Be good for mammaw okay?" I said softly. He nodded before hugging my neck.

"I wuv you mommy." He cried into my neck.

"I love you too baby. I'll be back soon."
