Revolution in Another World

When I have opened my eyes in this world, as much as I had been fascinated by the fantasy of this land, I was also disturbed by the law of this world as well. In this world, slavery still exists and so was the status-oriented society. No matter how hard you try, there was no such thing as climbing in the ranks of society. The low class were treated as if they were an animal and the high class acted as if they were monarchs. What could I do to change this world? that was how my journey had begun.

4. Third Chapter - Starting as an Apprentice

"Revolution in Another World

Starting as an Apprentice

"Are you the one who had been willing to become my apprentice?" Magiel, an elderly magician with wisely posture and figure, set down on a sit that was directly in front of me. It was as if I was taking an interview and it actually was.

"Is there anything wrong with it?" I tried to ease down the unfamiliarity.

"No, its just that there hadn't been anyone else willing to do it," Magiel took a sip of a black tea.

"I had been regarded as a heresy in this field if you haven't known it already."

"What did you do that upset the rest of the magicians?" I began to dig down onto the source.

"I have already heard that you came from an unknown land and that you had been lacking a common knowledge in here," Magiel noticed that I felt out of place for asking questions that should be considered basic in here. Maris already knew about this through our conversation and I also knew about the fact that she noticed it.

"How do you think a magic works in this world?" Magiel ignited a small flame out of his palm.

"You can't explain that..." I answered.

"You and I are on the same page, but the rest of them aren't," Magiel directed his fingers at the church behind the windows.

"Some believes the the origins of magic comes from the Goddess of Light."

"What about the others?" I asked Magiel.

"Hmph..." Magiel had an excited grin in his face.

"Others believe that it comes from the abnormalities of this world."

"Abnormalities? Do you think that there is an error in this world?" I was suddenly interested.

"Some researchers already know that human bodies should not be able to do what those adventurers are able to do," Magiel pointed it out.

"For example, how would you expect a human to be able to run faster than a horse, lift a boulder, and survive a fall from a cliff?"

"Then what does it explain about the process that takes to perform a magic?" I had my hand raised.

"We activate magic by applying mana into the magic circles from old grimoires," Magiel showed me his copy of grimoires.

"What if the magic circles are the equations that processes the mana into the magic?" I figured it out.

"You are almost correct," Magiel was pleased with the answer.

"The reason why depletion of mana causes exhaustion had been left as a mystery for a while, but I have concluded that it is because of the fact that mana is our life force. In other words-"

"Life force is the compensation to spend in order to cause a supernatural phenomenon!" I interrupted again.

"I have finally found an apprentice," Magiel made a gentle smile.
