2. What I’d Do, What I Did

What I’d Do, What I Did

I’d sell my soul just for another chance

Squander my fortune for one last glance

I’d give up my voice for one last word

Give up my eyes to be seen, my ears to be heard

I wrote this in the margins of my page

Filled them up with thoughts and pretty things

Another notebook testifying to my rage

And all these secrets taking, centre stage

I’d do anything to make this right

Every last dime for one more night

Walk to the ends of the earth to say your name

Swim across the ocean for things to stay the same

I wrote this in the margins of my page

Filled them up with thoughts and pretty things

Another notebook testifying to my rage

And all these secrets taking, centre stage

They know what I’ve done

And they’ve seen me on the run

I’d give it all away to be forgiven

Bring on the pain if it means I can forget him

I scribbled these words for him to read

Didn’t know I’d be planting a seed

That grew and grew, into a tree of hate

How can I fix this, before it’s too late?

I wrote this in the margins of my page

Filled them up with thoughts and pretty things

Another notebook testifying to my rage

And all these secrets taking, centre stage

You can’t remember what I did

Not a clue do you have, ‘bout why I hid

But the guilt is tearing me apart

I can’t deny it, you have my heart

We all have our secrets we must bury

But eventually we set them free

We all have our secrets we must bury

But eventually we set them free

I wrote this in the margins of my page

Filled them up with thoughts and pretty things

Another notebook testifying to my rage

And all these secrets taking, centre stage

We all have our secrets we must bury

But eventually we set them free
