5. Chapter 4- Drives And Kisses

Ember’s POV

Brandon’s face looked flushed when he came out of the washroom. I was worried actually. He didn’t look well when Max mentioned that he had seen him somewhere. But then again, I may be seeing things. He also looked angrily at Max when we arrived. I don’t know why, but I would like to know.

So a few hours passed and we made small talk about our interests and what not. He showed me some of his art and I was in awe with them. He is so talented. He is very handsome too. His chocolaty eyes compliment his slightly tanned skin. And don’t even ask about his hair. They look so soft. I just want to touch them. I stopped myself plenty of times to ask which products did he used in his hairs.

His smell was also mesmerizing. I couldn’t concentrate on half of our conversation and where I was seating wasn’t helping either because I was sitting right next to him on his left side whereas Max sat on his right side. I also saw Max checking him out when he wasn’t looking and even acted like a lost puppy and he looked at Brandon with so much adoration and lust as if he would just jump on him if we weren’t sitting in public.

I also noticed that Brandon felt uncomfortable under his gaze. I had to bite my cheeks for laughing out loud. It just looked to funny.

I’m snapped out of my thoughts by the ringing in Max’s phone. He frowns to see the called id and excuses himself to take the call.

I hear Brandon taking a huge sigh and I chuckled. I feel stares at me and look at him. Uh oh, he saw me laugh.

“So, what’s so funny? I also want to know.” he says crossing his arms on his chest.

“N-nothing.” I stutter and give him a forced smile. He narrows his eyes at me and uncrosses his arms and puts his left arm on the head of my chair and leans towards me. My breath hitches at his doing. Why does he have this kind of effect on me?

“Nothing?” he asks innocently and leans back, noticing my discomfort and smirking. I exhale. Finally, sweet sweet oxygen.

“Well, I saw your discomfort under Max’s gaze and that made me chuckle. I swear nothing else.” I breathed out, which made him have a hearty laugh and my heart betrayed me yet again. I was worried that he would hear my frantic heart but he didn’t.

He wiped an invisible tear from his light brown orbs and said, “You didn’t lose your trait for noticing someone’s discomfort.” As he said this, his eyes widened and my face was filled with a confused expression. His face also changed as if what he said shouldn’t have been said.

I was going to ask what he was talking about when a worried and sad Max came back and excused himself to leave. I inwardly cursed him for leaving me alone with this stranger. Yeah, he was a stranger to me, yet it felt as if I have known him all my life and it is hurting me because I can’t put names to the feelings I feel towards him.

It was darker now and I checked my phone just to see 15 missed calls from Amelia. Oh, I’m so gonna get a lecture for not being a good friend.

“Is anything wrong? You look as if you have seen a ghost.” Brandon asks.

“Yeah, no, I mean everything is fine. I have to get going but I really enjoyed my time with you. I would like to hang out with you more and get to know you.” I say collecting my things and glancing at him to see him giving me his biggest smile.

A smile that can make the ladies swoon all over him and a smile that melted my heart.

“How about tomorrow? We could hangout again. Movies?” he said, unsure of what to ask.

I chuckled at his nervousness and said, “Only if I get to choose.”

We shook hands and I rush out of the door, only to later realize that Max was my ride. It was a little over 11 so the roads were almost deserted and I was scared to take a taxi at this hour.

Just then Brandon came out and saw me standing there and asked, “Hey, you haven’t gone yet? May I drop you?”

I was very glad for him to come and be my knight in the shining armor and nodded.

He took me towards his car and my eyes widened at his car. It was a freaking Rolls-Royce and in matte black. Holy shit. How rich is he?

“You’ll catch a fly, if your mouth keeps hanging like that.” He chuckled and got me out of my trance. I blinked.

“What kind of an artist are you?” I questioned.

“The rich kind.” And we both started laughing.

He opened the door to the passenger seat for me and I slide into it, muttering a small thank you. He ran towards his side and before I know it, we were driving towards my house.

I gave him my address and silence surrounded us. It was not awkward at all but was comfortable which made me question that why was it comfortable? Because I only know him for 2 days now.

“So Ember, tell me about your family.” Brandon asked, glancing at me a little.

“Um, I am an only daughter. I am from a small town outside New York. I used to live with my father there and it was a very wonderful town. People were friendly and everyone knew each other. I have lived there for almost 20 years now and then moved here to do some internship in companies.” I answered.

“Wow, that’s amazing. So, you live with your dad.” I nodded and almost knew what the next question was coming.

“What about your mother? If you don’t mind me asking.” He asked, definitely nervous.

I got tensed as he asked this question and was trying a way to let him down easily but what he said next released my tension.

“You know what? You don’t have to answer it. I’m sorry.”

“It’s oka, Brandon. But I will surely tell you about her one day, before that I would like to get to know you more.” I smiled at him and the tension in the car was occupied by comfortable silence and faint music from the radio.

“Yes, Ember?” he asked. The way he says my name, fills butterflies in my stomach, which I can’t seem to help.

“Tell me about you now.” I asked and then the car came to a halt. I looked outside and saw that we are infront of my apartment complex. I frowned because I was not ready to leave his side. He makes me feel something, like he is the missing piece in my life, the one I was so eager to have. He makes me feel comfortable and safe.

I turned to look at him only to see those familiar brown eyes with a similar frown as me. I guess he doesn’t want me to leave. We both opened out mouth to say something but closed and laughed.

“You first.” Brandon insisted.

“I had a wonderful time together, Brandon. And I can’t wait for tomorrow.” I said, that made Brandon chuckled and I gave him a confused look.

“You know Ember; I was going to say the same thing.” And we both chuckled.

Then Brandon turned to unlock the doors and faced outside.

I took this opportunity to give a quick kiss on his cheeks and turned around and rushed out the door, before mumbling a small good bye and ran to my complex so that he couldn’t see the small smile and a huge blush on me.

Brandon’s POV

I sat frozen in my car, I don’t know for how long. She kissed my cheeks. Oh my god. It was the best feeling in the world. Her soft lips on my cheeks. I am not going to wash it for quite sometime now. I know it is very childish but if you were in my place you would done the same.

I looked around and noticed that no one was here so I shouted a ‘yay’ in my car and drove off happily. My face was now hurting for smiling. Whenever I tried to show a normal expression, it would on its own transfer to a smile. Stupid lips.

“Who is the girl?” my mom asked right away as I entered. That woman didn’t even look at me and asked.

“Umm, how do you it’s a girl?”

“So it’s a boy?”

“Ew, no. How can you even think like that mom?” I questioned, fully disgusted by the thought. No offence to the homosexuals but I don’t swing that way, sorry.

“So, am I getting her name any sooner or will you straight away give me grandchildren?” she asked. Sometimes, my mother can be impossible. Yet, I love her with all my heart.

“Ember and no we are just friends.” For now.

“So, you are happy because?” she stood infront of me and gestured me to continue. Let me tell you a few things first. She can extract any secret from me by just giving me one look. Hell, she could get anyone talking with that look. I sometimes think what would happen if she was a police officer?

She had features similar to me but her eyes were green. I wish I had those. I have brown eyes like my father.

“Umm, because she might have kissed my cheeks.” I replied almost whispering and feeling my cheeks to heat up.

“What? Say it loud Brandon.” She hissed.

“She kissed my cheeks.” I said it loud enough for people in Antarctica to hear. I then turned my head down, embarrassed to discuss a topic like this with my mother and ran up to my room. Yeah, I know what you are thinking. Future CEO of Randall Corp still living with his parents. It is partially true. I have another house next to the company but that is temporary.

I love my parents, way too much to leave them. And then there is the business. It is intense so we have some tough competition who wants to harm me by any means to break me so I live with them. Most of the time I come here and when I have a lot of work I sleep in my second home.

I closed my door and started to breathe again. I looked at the mirror and noticed my cheeks are still red from embarrassment. I rubbed them and felt tingles on my right cheek, where she kissed and smiled again. Damn it. I managed to forget about it but now, I will smile like an idiot the whole night.
