8. The Wedding Vows

“Marietta I don’t understand why seven hundred people have to be there. Can’t we keep it a small discreet wedding? This is a wedding not a coronation.” I whine as I throw my pen onto the table. All day we'd been signing and organising this extravagant wedding that Francis and I didn't even want.

“Adeline, I know how you want a small wedding but you can't. If we invite only the nobles from the First Kindom and those from the Fifth, the rest of the Kindoms might see it as an act of seclusion.” She smiles, trying to cheer me up. I slump in my chair and stare disgusted at all the work we still had to do.

“I approve, send out the invitations." I agree eventually after spending ten minutes arguing with Marietta. She grins and calls for the ten fastest riders.

"I'm going to check on Kenna and Claudia. They're making my dress from scratch!" I laugh as I pull myself from the table. Today I'd chosen a dark purple dress that had a tight corset and skirt that went out at the hips. It was sleeveless and the corset was a sweet heart neckline. Marietta laughs and then dismisses me.

It'd been a week since the King's death and Francis and I was due to marry this Saturday and then get crowned on the following Wednesday. It was all happening so quickly and stressful but Francis helped calm me down with a friendly smile and surprise lunch dates.

I entered Kenna and Claudia’s chambers where they were busy working on a pure white dress. Kenna was sewing the lacy material to the sleeves while velvet and golden thread was being embroider by Claudia at the hem of the dress.

“You seem hard at work Ladies.” I chuckle as I close the door. They jumped up trying to cover the dress with frantic hands.

“You should not see this, it's a surprise!" Kenna demanded as she raced forward, pushing me towards the door.

“Kenny wait!" I laugh as I pull a thread from her blonde curls, "It's the groom that isn't aloud to see the dress and I'm the bride!"

They started laughing and then let out stressed sighs. Claudia perked up and walked over to me, smiling widely.

“Would you like to see the veil?” she asked, holding it up a beautiful veil that was transparent with the hem decorated with small pearls. I took it in my hand and admired it in awe. It was lighter than a feather and felt soft under my fingers.

"This is going to be amazing!" I grin.

The Royal hall was breath-taking. The walls were decorated with light pink flowers and the pillars had ivy vines twirled around them. The windows let down a beautiful golden haze which made the hall look enchanting. My heart was beating wildly as I stood behind the closed doors. Any minute now the orchestra would start playing a symphony and I'd be walking towards my future.

My dress was dress was gorgeous; Kenna and Claudia really out did them selves. It had thin white lace sleeves that had little diamonds sewn into them and a full skirt that went to the floor in a waterfall of think silk fabric. The corset was white with lace and made my waist skinnier. My hair was in a water fall braid with diamond pins decorating it and the rest of my hair was in loose barrel waves. I had a thick diamond chocker on with matching dangly earrings. On my wrists I had a bracelet for each Kingdom with their national symbol on. 1st Kingdom's was a Pegasus, 2nd was a set of scales, 3rd was a rose, 4th was a dolphin and the 5th (my kingdom) was two swords crossed together.

"You look gorgeous Adelina." My mother smiles as she loops her arm in mine.

"I missed you terribly while you were away mama." I whisper as she kisses my forehead.

"I'm back now, only for a few days though my dear." She responds lightly before instructing for Kenna to stand beside Benet and Claudia to stand beside William as they walk in front of us down the isle. I've noticed how the pairs are starting to become extremely close to each other which makes me happy because now they'll finally get a happily ever after.

The heavy oak doors are heaved open as the orchestra start playing a soft lullaby. A smile plants on my face when I see Francis in his black and gold suit. Everyone stands up and whispers about how beautiful I look while I make my way down the isle. My mother squeezes my hand before placing it into Francis's.

"You look stunning Adelina." He whispers as he takes in my perfect white dress.

"Thank you Francis." I smile, feeling my cheeks blush. When everyone takes their seats, the vicar begins.

"We are gathered here today to celebrate the union between Queen Adelina of the fifth Kingdom and Francis Hunters Crown Prince of the first Kingdom. Today we will unite the two kingdoms and two young souls and pray they have a happy and lengthy marriage together."

Two hours pass and then I'm staring into Francis's blue eyes.

"Do you Prince Francis take Queen Adelina to be your wife?"

"I do." Francis responds as he slides a golden ring with a sapphire in the middle onto my left ring finger.

"And do you Queen Adelina of the fifth Kingdom take Prince Francis to be your husband?"

"I do." I grin as I slide the thick gold ring onto his left ring finger.

"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride." As the vicar says this all 700 guess erupt in cheer and throw pink petals at us. I look at Francis who has the biggest grin on his face. With out hesitation he places one hand on my waist and another on my cheek. For a second he just looks into my eyes before crashing his lips onto mine. It wasn't a sloppy kind of kiss it was a pure passionate kiss filled with lust and love. We both broke away breathless with smiles on our faces.
