33. Moving On

PART 33: Moving On

“If you still love me, why did you go? Where are you so I can come to you?” Riah is on the phone, pleading to Shaun.

“Just tell me, tell me what’s wrong, and we can work it out!” She raises her voice a little.

“Baby, I’ve already told you, there are things you just don’t know about me. I love you too much to stay.” Shaun’s tone was mild and informal.

“—So that’s it, just like that huh? You throw money at me, like I’m just some charity case you feel sorry for?! You know what Shaun, fine fuck you! I hate you! Take your money, cause I don’t need it!” Riah hangs up in Shaun’s face.

The truth was Riah couldn’t function, she wasn’t able to sleep peacefully at night. She only wanted to know why did Shaun destroy her? She was perfectly fine without him. She never bothered anyone, she stayed to herself everyday. He was the one person who introduced her to a new world. Even after she yelled and screamed at him, she felt ashamed. Reason being, she didn’t even know how to hate him.

The thought of him, the way he felt, looked, smelled and talked invaded her thoughts. She just wanted to see his face, to see if everything he said was true. She didn’t know if he was still in the city or not.

Riah walks to a rack behind the wall that contains a host of the same black dresses that was on the mannequin, she took one off of the shelf and held it close to her. She felt like she was drowning in her own attempt to forget the only love of her life.

Riah strolls to the register, thinking it wasn’t like she had anything else to do but go to her sister’s dinner. It might actually help take her mind off of Shaun for once. Walking out of the mall her phone lights up.

Tia is calling Riah.

“Damnnnn bitch where are you? I said 6:00 pm!”

Riah could’ve swore she said at 8. “Well I’ll be there in an hour. I was at the mall trying to find something to wear.”

“Bitch you ain’t gotta get all Hollywood, but I know you so hurry yo ass!” Tia snapped.

“Okay I’m on my way.” Becoming a little defensive Riah concurred,

“Okay, cool.” Tia hangs up.

Riah speeds home, getting there in fifteen minutes. She takes a quick shower, puts her hair in a sleek, slick low bun then applies some make up. Putting on her heels, she sprays on some perfume and heads out of the house.

She arrives at Tia’s house, and her stomach is filled with butterflies. Riah hasn’t exactly been sociable, so coming to a small event was a great start for her. She steps out of her car with a thousand thoughts running through her mind.

Walking up the stone pathway she hesitated at first, but she finally gathered her nerves and rung the doorbell. [Doorbell buzzes] It took only a second for Kevin to get to the door. Opening it he smiles at Riah, trying not to reveal his concern on his face he gives her a bear hug, lifting her body off of the ground.

“We’ve been expecting you woman. Glad to see yo ass finally out yo cocoon.” Kevin grinned moving out of Riah’s way.

Riah politely smiles, entering into the vivacious home. “Wow it smells nice in here.”

Tia’s light voice travels from the living room, “Thanks to Kevin, I told him you loved Italian food, so I think he wanted to show off his culinary skills.”

“Well you shouldn’t have Kevin, and Tia thank you for having me over. I haven’t had a home cooked meal in so long, I’ve literally been eating TV dinners and hot pockets—Well that is whenever I have an appetite to eat.”

“That ain’t living man.” Kevin adds, shaking his head.

Kevin asks Riah, “So how have you been holding up?”

“Well I can’t answer your question honestly. I’ve been holding on the best way I can.” She puts her head down, not making eye contact to ward off her true feelings.

Riah takes a seat at the bar. She takes off her purse, and hangs it on the hook to a wall beside her.

Kevin fixes Riah a drink. “Here you go, ease up.”

Riah respectfully declines, “It’s not a good idea for me to drink, especially when I’m in my feelings.”

“Okay, no pressure, you hungry?” Kevin walks to the silver pan of steaming hot food, grabbing a clear glass square plate.

“Please, and thank you.” Riah takes out her phone, hoping to see a notification or missed call from Shaun.

Kevin didn’t know what to say to soothe Riah, even after the fight he had with Shaun, seeing Riah in this state he only wished he had broke something on his body. Riah was definitely not like her sister, she was nice and humble.

He hands her the plate, looking at her lips pucker to cool the contents. To be falling apart she looked perfect. Riah didn’t say anything else, she just slowly enjoyed the pleasurable taste in her mouth, forgetting just for a moment her weary woes.

Kevin poured him a drink, asking Tia if she wanted one herself. She didn’t turn the offer down, which he had already knew she wouldn’t.

“I thought you were going to stand us up,” Tia slowly walks in to the bar area. She had on a leather mini black skirt on and a dark maroon crop top, that revealed her breasts. “By the way you look like you are ready to steal someone’s heart.”

“In no way am I even thinking of talking to another man— “ Kevin raises his right eyebrow.

“...oh, no offense Kevin but your species is just too much. The only thing I’m working on now is getting back on my feet.”

“Well if you are looking for work I need someone to help me organize and plan this huge project I’m working on. I’m thinking about adding a reception venue, and another hall. With your skills hell, you’ll be the perfect fit.”

Tia chimes in, that would be good for you Riah, and for a minute I thought you were going full fledge lesbo.”

“It’s not that, I just need to take care of myself, my last relationship took so much from me.” Ria reflected on her past moments with Shaun, clutching her arm.

Kevin poured another shot of liquor, and looked over at Riah.

She smiles and reached out the drink. “Well thank you for the job opportunity, so when is the interview? I don’t think I’m making a very good impression for my future boss.”

“Don’t worry about it, you not on the clock yet. Just know I’m willing to work around your school schedule. I have other restaurants as well that I’m going to need an extra eye on. When do you think you can start?” Kevin smiles, then takes a shot.

“Maybe next week, Thursday.” Riah hoped he would consider.

“Sounds good to me, just be in before 5:30.” Kevin agreed with her terms.

Riah and Tia raises their drinks and toast, then quickly chug the drink, letting it spill down their throats.

“Thank both of you again, y’all really don’t know how much this means to me.” Tears roll down Riah’s face.

“You family don’t even worry bout none of that.” Kevin assured she was fine.

The girls leave to go outside to the pool. Kevin stays inside to himself, noticing they wanted some privacy. The patio’s light reflected off of the water. Riah and Tia take a seat on the couch that was outside.

“So I got in contact with Shaun today.” Riah starts the much waited for conversation.

“You did, what did he say? Did he say why he’d left in the first place? Tia had her teacup ready and waiting. She was just curious to see what lie Shaun had made up this time.

“Well he really didn’t say much of anything at all.” Riah deflated her bubble. That didn’t serve much use to her. It wasn’t something she wanted to hear.

“But can you believe he put fifty grand in my bank account? I don’t want it. It’s ludicrous.” Riah dropped a massive bomb.

Kevin walked to the patio to bring the ladies more drinks to intensify their zone. They halted, ceasing the conversation that was getting saucy.

“Thanks baby,” Tia took a quick sip.

“And thanks Kev.” Riah put hers down on the table that was in front of them.

Kevin leaves inside, and when he finally shuts the door Tia continues, “Bitchhhhh say what? What the fuck you mean he put fifty thousand dollars in your bank account?!”

“Yeah he did, but I told him fuck him, I wasn’t a charity case. Can you believe him?” Riah scoffs.

“No hoe, I can’t believe acting like him breaking up with you was a bad thing, but ayeeee that lil’ pussy paid off. Bitch you must got some good pussy.” Tia squints her eyes.

“Shiiiit, if Kevin leave me I ain’t getting jack shit.” Tia looks inside of the house.

“But he loves you.” Riah was confused a bit.

“All’s fair in love and war.” Tia smirked evilly.

Riah sips her drink. That is why I am glad Kevin offered me some work because without that, I’d be forced to touch his guilty money.”

“You’ve always been so smart, but so stupid. Bitch that nigga paid out. Who does that?” Tia pushes out a small subtle insult.

“I didn’t need his money, I wanted his heart.” Riah defends herself.

“And look where the fuck it got you bitch, at my house drinking talking about how you despise his ass. You can’t trust anything with a dick. Meaning you can’t even trust yourself when it’s in between your legs.” Tia claps back, instinctively trying to persuade her gullible sister.

Tia adjusted her bra, I’m telling you love is a weakness. We can really do without it.”

“So you don’t love Kevin?” Riah questioned Tia, with an unsure look on her face.

“I know Kevin loves me, and that’s all I need to know.” Tia dryly responded.

“T, I swear sometimes I don’t understand you.”

“Well good, you want my advice?” Tia stirs the pot a little.

“No, I think I’m gonna pass.” Riah still declines.

“Nahh, fuck that here it is. If you wanna get over one person fuck someone else, a random stranger. As a matter of fact fuck this, we finna go to the club hoe.” Tia pushes the issue without resistance.

Riah didn’t think that was a good idea. “Tia, I don’t think that is a good idea to go to the club right now.

“Why not, you already dressed? I’m the one who has to get ready. Come on, help me make a fucking statement.” Tia pushes her argument.

“Well I’m really not sure about this....” Riah is unsure.

“Come on, it’ll be fun.” Tia insists.

“Well okay, if you say so.” Riah finally gives in.

The girls go upstairs to the luxurious bedroom.

Tia went into her room to find the shortest, tightest dress she could find.

“Tia, I can see your coochie lips waving at me.” Riah folds her arms.

“That’s the point, and I ain’t wearing no panties, I suggest you do the same.” Tia models in her raunchy skin tight short red dress.

“Are you serious right now?” Riah was in shock.

“Dead.” Tia assures her.

“Okay then, I guess I will go then, so where we going? Riah is not sure, but she refuses to go home, bored and alone.

“Club “Next”. Tia wiggles her ass.

“Oh my, you know I have never been to a club before.” Riah scratches her scalp a bit.

“Don’t worry you in good hands, I promise.” Tia smiles, looking at her beautiful body in her full body extended mirror.

They run downstairs, and Kevin has fell asleep on the couch, the TV is still on.

“Baby we’ll be back. Tia gives Kevin a kiss. In reality he’s concerned. He doesn’t know how to handle the situation with Tia being out of his presence with a group of random strangers.

He forcefully nods and gives her a kiss, turning over on his side.

Finally they are in Tia’s car singing along to songs to get them in their mood. Tia plays twerking music. “Oh shit Riah, this yo shit bitch!”

Music plays. [I’m bout to hit the club and dance like a stripper...]

Taking a gulp of the dark brown liquor, Riah takes off her seat belt and puts her ass to the windshield and started twerking her ass. Riah started to scream, “Yassssss!!! Fuck that nigga!!!”

Tia laughs in excitement, and drives even faster, seeing her sister in this energy made her gloat.

“Yassssss Riah, fuck it up....ayeeee, ayeeee, ayeeeeeee!!!!” Tia cheers Riah.

Pulling up to the club, the girls sit for awhile. Many men approached the car, motioning them to get out of the car.

Guy 1: “Damn y’all fine, this the real party right here...”

Guy 2: He doesn’t say anything, he just observes from the distance.

Guy 3: “Say, who gon lemme taste that pussy?”

Riah is now reluctant, hearing the loud music blaring from the car. The bass knocking her bones dizzy.

“T, I think I’m gonna just stay inside, I don’t like this.” Riah peeked outside, seeing girls who were scantily dressed, ass cheeks were popped out like biscuits in a can, thigh high boots, stomachs, titties. Riah wanted to cover herself, now feeling self conscious.

“Fuck all that, bitch we here, you fine witcha slim thick ass...”

Riah felt a bit over dressed, hesitantly getting out of the car. The men were still there, like predators waiting for the two fawns to enter into the jungle.

“Goddamnnnnn, shit! We ain’t never saw y’all type before, where the fuck y’all from?”

The obnoxious outspoken one was a fair skinned man with a host of tattoos. He had a mouth full of gold, he looked disrespectful and straight hood. His jeans sagged some, and he had straight waves, with light hazel eyes.

He walked up to Tia, and he was quite demanding of her response. “So what’s up ma, what you tryna do?” His words faded out as she left Tia with the other two rabid scavengers.

The second guy pushed the third guy to the side, and winked at Riah. He didn’t say anything at all, but he did drag his friend away from her so she was grateful.

Loud hip-hop traveled through the walls, as a line of people waited to get in. The second guy, with a taper fade told the bouncer a few inaudible words.

The security officer waved his hand at Riah urging her to go inside. Tia was already steadfast into the rowdy function.
