32. Generational Curses

PART 32: Generational Curses

The heat was on. Sometimes there are secrets worth dying over. Riah was now a target since Derrick got rid of Shaun. This was the perfect opportunity for Derrick to strike Riah, she was weak and defenseless.

After everything happened that night at the party with Tia, Derrick and Ashley were on their way to visit his estranged mother that made him enlist in the army all of those years ago. This was the first time in nearly a decade. Ashley was kind of nervous to meet her, they had been dating exclusively for about two years. Little did she know she was in for a ride of her lifetime. Even though Derrick was with Ashley, he didn’t want her, he tolerated her but he knew deep down the only person that could really satisfy him sexually was Tia.

He comforted Ashley, letting her know everything would be just fine. “Don’t start tripping, you good, don’t worry.”

“Baby, I’m not sure about that, I need two shots or something, I am so nervous.” Ashley went into her purse and grabbed a small bottle of Hennessy. Taking a few drinks of the strong fluid, she exhaled.

“Whew, I am so much more fun when I’m buzzed...But Derrick, let’s talk about that crazy ass shit that happened with your cousin, my brother and Riah’s fiancé. That shit just seems unrealistic, like who the fuck does that? She fucked my brother and her sister’s man? That hoe trash.”

Derrick was getting annoyed with Ashley, and he could tell that she really didn’t like Tia, maybe because she cheated on her brother but he didn’t care. He just wanted her to stop down talking her altogether. “My cousin has always been wild, but she cool people. It really doesn’t matter, it seems like her and Kevin are still going strong.”

“Yeah what the fuck is with that? If you cheated on me, your ass would get the boot.” Ashley looked at Derrick seriously, and rolled her eyes.”

Little did she know, Derrick didn’t give two fucks about her. He had already cheated on her with multiple other women, including Tia.

Derrick ignored Ashley’s yammering, and hoped she would put that bottle back to her lips, that was the only time she was quiet.

The crazy part is Derrick didn’t know the magnitude of Tia’s illness. He had no idea of how much pain he had actually caused her. In his sick twisted mind, she wanted him just as much as he wanted her. Once he got sent away they no longer had any contact with each other. He tried sending her letters, finding her on social media; even calling her personally but it seemed like he was no longer alive for Tia. Those years in the army made Derrick’s character stronger, but in some ways a little bitter. So naturally seeing Tia, for the first time at her engagement party, in what seemed to be like ages was a blessing for him. He had to have her, he spent sleepless nights in the army fantasizing about her and what she had done to him. Every woman he fucked on his base left him empty, what he needed was her. And to actually feel himself inside of her again was his perfect high. He was willing to do whatever it took to have it again. And Kevin, Kevin was just another nigga fucking with shit that didn’t belong to him. Derrick knew in his heart what he had to do to remove him out of the picture. It was going to be like taking candy from a baby.

They enter into his old home. Derrick only felt alive with his mother, when he gave her leverage on everyone else. He just had to give the details about the family brawl. That was kind of like the only thing that glued them together, talking about everyone else’s lifestyle to make them feel better about theirs.

She had put everything behind her including him, but every time he would visit it only seemed like yesterday when his life fell apart. The house looked much different from the blurry images he faintly remembered, or what he tried to hold onto. She painted the house, added some landscaping, and even had a new roof. She looked like she had ran into some money.

Derrick walks through the unknown home, feeling a sense of humor, and a little pain. Ashley stays by the front door.

Those same white walls were there, they were just painted over to hide the things that he had done there and what was done to him. As he walks into the living room he sees his mother, looking like she was living her greatest life without him. She looked better, happier and stress free, well on the surface.

His mother gets up to greet him, hugging and kissing him with a fake smile. “My, my, my Derrick look at you! Looking like your father.”

Derrick gives his mother a loaded compliment,

“No mama, look at you...it looks like you’ve been living it up. And what did you do to the house? You know dad would’ve liked for you to keep it the same.”

“Yeah, God rest his soul, I just knew when yo ass came home you was gonna give me shit about fixing it up. It was time baby, keeping everything the same wasn’t gonna bring him back.” His mother catches his tone.

“And who is this model you got with you, that looks like she just stepped fresh out of a magazine?” Tesha smiled at Ashley.

“Mama, this is my girlfriend Ashley.”

Ashley leaves from the door, to greet Derrick’s mother.”

In what was suppose to be a happy event was kind of sour and it left a salty bitter taste on his tongue. He never really felt like she truly loved his father, seeing all the sudden changes she had made.

He was torn between hating her and feeling pity towards her. She had long weave in her head, clothes that appeared to be at least two decades out of her age group. Maybe she was going through a mid life crisis. To have an upkeep like this and only had a job at the post office, she had to be seeing someone, and maybe he had paid for all of this shit.

Derrick walks into what used to be his room, while Ashley chats with his mother. Everything was completely different. His bed was gone, his games, and even his photos. He felt like his mother tried to erase him and his dad out of her life for good. It didn’t really matter that she had made all of those dramatic changes anyway, it wasn’t like he was going to live with her.

Suddenly there is a abruption in the small talk as he hears a familiar voice, one he hasn’t heard in years. It’s Tia and Riah’s father arguing in the living room. Derrick comes out to assess the situation. They were arguing about money from the sound of it. It wasn’t looking too good for Derrick’s mother.

“Pay up Tesha, or he will find out! I want my money next Friday, there will be no more extensions!” He walks out of the house, slamming the door calling Derrick’s mother a bitch.

Derrick mother is crying, knocking clutter off of her coffee table. “They know you are back! This is all of your fucking fault, you ruined my life!”

Derrick tries to console her, placing his hand on her rubbing the middle of her back.

Ashley is just stunned, trying to pick up the shattered contents from the violent fiasco.

She snatches her body violently away from him, and demands him to get out. He did as she wished without hesitation. That was something he was quite used too. His own mother, the woman that carried him, and pushed him out into the world couldn’t stand to see his face for a single day.

After that they both got in the car, and Derrick burned rubber, the tires screeched as he backed out quickly out of the driveway. Ashley just sat in silence, not sure of what to say about the whole ordeal.

“Yeah, as you see my whole family is a mess. Now you fucking see why I didn’t want to come back to this bitch ass city in the first place.”

“Yeah I get it, that was really weird. Who was that man?”

“My uncle.” Derrick eased up on the gas, stopping at a red light.

“Your uncle? So what did he mean about your mama owing money?” Ashley wanted speculation, any information she could get.

“I don’t know.” Derrick didn’t bend to her will.

“—He said she only had one week...” Ashley continued.

“I heard!!!” Derrick was quite agitated now, he just tried to think.

“So what are you going to do?” Ashley asked concerned.

Derrick didn’t know what his mother got herself in, but he knew he was going to have to make something shake to get her out of it. Ashley might’ve saw a new light. She was being exposed to a new world that she was unfamiliar with.

Every family has their secrets, and how they keep things afloat. This vendetta went beyond Riah, now it was being targeted at her father. Derrick might’ve not been as close to his mother as a son should be, but all he knew was he wasn’t going to let a soul harm her, even touch her.

Money was a big issue in their family. Though they weren’t as wealthy as some family, they had weight and they had pull in the streets. Derrick had to make a quick stop to an old friend.

-Kevin And Tia

“So I guess Riah stood us up huh?” Tia pours red wine to the brim.

“Baby, look I am sure something came up, given the fact everything that has happened she might not be in the mood.”

Since Kevin found out the truth he wanted to forgive her, but another part of him despised her. He tried to put himself in her shoes, bring a sex addict and an adrenaline junkie. But somehow he still felt betrayed by her.

Kevin takes the lasagna out of the oven. The steam from the pain fills the kitchen with tomatoes, mozzarella and garlic and herbs. Kevin placed the pan on the island’s top.

“Yeah I know, but her ass could’ve called.” Tia rolls her eyes.

Kevin didn’t understand how Tia was so comfortable with inviting her sister over after she had slept with her man. It was almost scary. It was like she was pretending the whole situation never happened. Kevin often times looked at Tia, wanting to pick her brain.

He only gave her benefit of the doubt because he knew he himself wasn’t perfect, and sometimes when people make poor decisions no one tries to give them a fighting chance to make it right. From what Kevin could see he saw that Tia seemed to be getting a little better and maybe his attention and drive was all she needed.

She was getting more of Kevin than what she actually imagined. She rarely turned down his requests, in fact he opened up her mind to brand new things. But then there was Derrick, that was another secret to add to her plate. He fucked up het world that night in the restroom at her engagement party.

Even though Kevin tried his best to domesticate Tia, he couldn’t tame her. She tried to fight the feeling of him taking her against her will, and even her lying to herself saying she wasn’t going to cum because she didn’t want it—she didn’t like it.

Tia fought herself everyday, trying to literally carve the memories, and the emotions that were tied to them out of her brain.

But when Kevin lied on top of her, she could feel Derrick, and no matter what she did or felt he took a hold of her soul.

Kevin cuts a hefty piece of lasagna and puts it on a ceramic square plate, handing it to Tia. She grabs it, thanking him still reminiscing about her exciting night at the party. She needed more of the forbidden fruit.
