10. Midnight

Why is it that my brain is wired at midnight?

My eyes feel heavy, my heart aching for slumber,

yet my neurons fire and my mind swirls.

things that don't need to be bothered with
at midnight.



Background on Poem: I suffer from self-diagnosed insomnia. I can feel so tired, yet lay down to rest and just lay there. My brain likes to think, run wild, at night. If I don't try to sleep by 8:30 PM, then there's no sleeping for this girl.
