Death is a Bunch of Flowers

College is strange enough. It's a new atmosphere for new attendees, but this college is even stranger. The main characters find themselves stuck in a murder mystery type of dilemma, with the only way to leave the scene destroyed. Their classmates are dropping dead, with an unknown reason, or killer, but one thing is for sure: the killer is not completely human.

9. Battle Plan

The group of four friends talked with Dante's father about what they could do to stop the other demon. Unfortunately for them, Dante's father told them that he couldn't lose control of his form, so he was in his form voluntarily. Plus, they didn't know his identity, and even if they did, Travis told them it wouldn't help. He could get out of almost anything, any sort of prison or jail wouldn't be able to contain him. The only thing he could think of to trap him was a dimensional time trap, which kept him trapped in a dimension where the only thing that was real was time. The only problem with that plan was that it was almost impossible to form a dimensional time trap, even for an experienced witch, wizard, or demon, because it wasn't just magic that was needed to form it.

"Well, it can't be that hard, what do you have to do to make one?" Nicole asked, now sitting on the stairs.

"You need to know and be able to see all the major stars in the sky at night, with the moon aligned with all of them," Travis informed them, sitting down against the wall. He blew his hair out of his face before continuing. "Besides, you have to be able to open and close dimensions, and only me, Dante, and his dad can do that here, and the stars needed to do that are nearly impossible to catch in the exact locations to allign with the moon at the right time."

Katelyn, who was seated on the stairs next to Nicole, looked up at each of them with a sudden hint of potential in her icy eyes.

"I can name every star in the sky, any night of the year, with any moon position and phase," she informed them honestly, having studied astronomy when she was younger. Travis looked up at her with slight disbelief, but hope surfacing in his eyes, the emerald color slowly brightening again.

"And I know lots of magic portals and spells!" Nicole exclaimed brightly, smiling at him. He turned to both of them and grinned hopefully.

"You have no idea how important that is to me right now," he told the girls, grinning goofily a bit. He meant it, though. Katelyn grinned back, pleased her passions and talents would be useful. Nicole smiled at him, happy she could finally use her knowledge she had been storing for a while.

"Lucky for you all, I know the phase and the position the moon has to be in to open every portal in any dimension," Dante's father proudly said as he stood up, looking down at all of them. "Now let's get going, we have a lot to do!"

The group got together and held hands with each other, Dante and his father glitching their friends onto the rooftop together. They were a bit winded from the amount of material they had to send glitching energy to, but they were okay. They all began to look around and listen to their surroundings, trying to find Travis's father.

They heard nothing for a while, but they stayed put. The silence continued until around sundown, they heard many sharp screams of terror from the plaza behind the college.

Sprinting across the roof, the five skidded to a stop right at the edge. They saw the strip mall behind the college, and it was on fire. Pieces of the buildings were missing, and there was one dark silhouette on the top of the middle building, visible for a few moments before he vanished in one of the clouds of billowing smoke from the fires. There was many bodies scattered around, the color red from the corpses staining every nearby surface.

Nicole covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes wide with horror. She couldn't believe such a ruthless man could father such a kind boy. Katelyn held her arm and pulled her close, hugging her. They looked to the other three for their reactions.

Dante's father wasn't obviously effected, but he was indeed sank from the lives taken. He had worked with Travis's father most of their time, and when Travis was orphaned by his mother's death and his father leaving, he had taken him under as his own. It was nothing to say he was saddened, but he held together.

Dante was next to him, gazing down on the bodies with tears slowly building up in his eyes. He was a sensitive boy at heart, even though he tried to hide it most of his days. He wiped his tears with the back of his hands, biting his lip. He would do whatever he could to keep his friend safe, no matter what the cost, simply so he wouldn't have to see his best friend and half-brother's body there like the ones they were seeing now.

Travis was perhaps the least visibly affected of all of them, staring down at the bodies and fire as if it was normal. They all knew he was affected, however. His eyes were clouded with fear and pain, but no tears were being produced.

Katelyn reached to him and rested her hand on his shoulder, hoping to comfort him slightly. She held Nicole closer as the small girl buried her face in her shoulder, crying softly. Dante heard her quiet sniffling and approached her slowly, hugging her as well. Lastly, Dante's father put one of his large hands on each of his boy's shoulders, looking after all four children, as any good father would.

As they all gazed upon the damage from the most powerful demon in existence, they knew their plan needed to work, or the fate of the overworld was at state.
