3. Talking to a Demon

“Why are you going on the subway if you can fly?” I asked just now noticing that he was waiting for the subway like everyone. “Well flying to work is a hasle and when I get there I’m all sweaty and tired. Taking the subway is just quicker and easier.” He spoke in a way that made him seem less like a creature and more like a human. “So then what do you use your wings for?” I asked him still curious and amazed by the creature. “Well I put them over my head sometimes when it starts to rain.” He said making my eyes light up a bit. “Can I see!” I asked super excitedly as I let go of my dad's hands for a second to take his. He smiled and with a wave of his hand there was a bright light and we no longer in the subway waiting for the train. “That’s so cool!” I shouted as I looked around at all the flowers and trees in the meadow we were standing in. “Wait I can’t find my dad…” I just now realizing I had let go of his hand and began to feel scared but at the same time oddly safe. “It’s okay... sometimes it's better not to see what's in front of us.”  He said this time with a grave tone to his voice. I looked at him to ask what he meant but he was no longer looking at me. Instead he seemed to be looking up at the sky. “It’s going to rain....” He said in his soft tone again as he took his big black leather wings out and stretched them over his head. As soon as he did I could feel warm rain drops start to hit my face. “Can I come under your wings with you?” I asked him but he shook his head holding his hand out to me once more. “Well why not?” I asked not wanting to take it until I got an answer to my question. “Because child it’s time for you to go home. Your mother must be worried sick about now.” He told me as he looked down at me his hand still out stretched to me.
