Travelling the World with Books

A blog in which I describe a literary project to Travel the World with Books. I will include synopsis's of the books, historical context, conversations with my reading partner and my thoughts on the books. Feel free to comment any thoughts or recommendations for foreign books I can read.

It’s been over a month! I feel a bit neglectful of this at the moment, so apologies for that. The good news is that I’ve finished the literature course I was on (we finished with Wilde's’ ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ - such a great play, easy to read, a good laugh: highly recommend!) and now all my reading attention is focused on this project.

I’m still reading The Idiot, it is simply huge, and I’m not even halfway through yet. Meanwhile the America book has been swapped from ‘Optimism over Despair’ by Noam Chomsky to ‘Americanah’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie simply because the latter was too much hard work to understand without a lot of complimentary reading and research. Lucie is nearly finished that one. The next post is likely to be her review of that and hopefully my finishing of The Idiot relatively soon after. Then it’ll be my turn to read Americanah and her’s The Idiot. Fun fun!
