Twilight fanfict. Book 1

Meet the new member of the pack. Liilian Rayne. What happened to her to be a part of the pack confuses everyone. How could that be possible? She was human. She was born with the blood of a human. Heck she didn't even know supernatural actually exist until she moved to Forks. Her dad thought it was best for her. Guess he was wrong.

4. the beach

I walk into the forest with my hands in my pockets. I hear footsteps behind me. After a couple of minutes I sigh. “I said I wanted to be alone.” I turn around and see Jared.

He nods. “I know but you look like you need some cheering up. Your part of our family now. I don’t like my family being upset. Well there’s no helping Paul with that.” He says walking up to me.

I raise an eyebrow. “How are you going to attempt to do that?” I ask slightly amused.

He smiles by showing you something we can do for fun that would most likely kill regular humans. Follow me.” He says and starts walking. I follow him. The suns already out but it’s slightly cloudy so it’s mostly covered. I notice something as I watch Jared walking. He’s not wearing a shirt. In fact I don’t remember seeing any of them wearing a shirt other than Emily.

I scrunch my eyebrows. “Why aren’t you wearing a shirt?”  I ask.

He shrugs. “Don’t need to. Because of our body temperature cold weather feels like spring.” He says.

“Why are you so tall?” I ask.

He chuckles. “We mature faster than humans do. You’ll probably have a growth spurt here pretty soon too.”

I shrug. “I don’t know about that.”

He looks at me. “So your parents never told you stories about the cold ones?” He asks.

I shake my head. “My mom died from cancer about a month ago. My dad hasn’t told me anything about the cold one. Also my……transformation wasn’t the same that you went through. My dad and I had just moved here and he wanted me to go to town to meet people while he unpacked. When I got to town I noticed a necklace on the ground and picked it up. The next day at school I had it in my pocket with the intent to take it to one of the stores after school to return it. A kid knocked into me and it fell out of my pocket. He thought it was mine and put it on me. I never got the chance to take the necklace off because I had gotten upset from something a kid brought up said and went to the forest. I had gotten attacked by a Vampire. Well apparently the necklace isn’t or wasn’t an ordinary necklace.”

He gives me a confused look. “What do mean not ordinary?” He asks.

I sigh. “After about a day after I had put on the necklace I started feeling like I was being put in an oven. It got worse. Then the necklace started glowing. It got brighter and brighter. When it was blindingly bright I felt extreme pain. It stopped glowing and I was a wolf.”

Jared is silent for a while. I stop walking and turn to walk way. “I shouldn’t have said anything.”

I feel him grab my arm stopping me. “No I’m glad you did.’ He says. I turn to face him and see that he’s smiling.

I raise an eyebrow. “You don’t think I’m crazy?” I ask.

He shakes his head. “It’s not the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. I’ve been told I’m an immortal protector of humans.” He says jokingly.

I sigh. “So have I.”

He frowns. “Stop being such a sourpuss. Come on we don’t need another Paul.” He says.

I roll my eyes. “I’m not that bad.”

I see something changes in his features. It becomes mischievous. A smile spreads across his face.

“Why does that look worry me?” I ask. He picks me up and slings me over his shoulder like a potato sack. I struggle trying to get out of his grip. “What are you doing? Put me down!”

He shakes his head. “Nope.”

I groan. “Jared put me down.” I start to hear the sound of running water.

He stops and looks at me. “You sure you want me too?”

I roll my eyes. “Yes Jared. Put me down.” I instantly regret saying it. He tosses me and I go over a cliff.

I’m free falling too afraid to even scream. I feel sharp pain as I hit the water and gasp. I inhale water and start choking on it. I struggle to get to the surface. My lungs burn with the need of oxygen. My vision blurs. I feel arms wrap around me and I’m instantly pulled to the surface. I struggle to breath but can’t because my lungs are filled with water. Jared sets me on the ground.

“Lilly? Breathe.” He says. I feel pressure on my chest and the water comes up. I cough up water painfully.

“I’m so sorry lilly! I didn’t mean…..I’m so stupid.” I can see the guilt, hurt, and regret in his eyes.

I’m finally able to breathe and take in gulps of air. Once my breathing finally evens out I look at him. “What the hell did you expect? You through me off a cliff!” I say angrily.

He looks down and I instantly regret snapping at him. I sigh. “You could have at least warned me.”

He looks at me. “I’m really sorry.” I see the sincerity in his eyes.

I wring out my hair. “It’s ok. At least I’m not dead.” I tease lamely.

He flinches and I rub the back of my neck. “Sorry.” I apologize.

He holds out his hand and helps me up. “Sam’s going to be really mad at me.” He says.

“Why?” I ask wringing out my shirt.

He raises an eyebrow. “Maybe because I almost killed you.”

I smile. “Wouldn’t be the first time I was almost killed. I would have probably enjoyed it if I had known you were going to do it.”

He laughs. “Are you trying to say you want to go again?” He asks teasingly.

I shrug. “Maybe.” I lean against the wall of the cliff.

He gives me a look of disbelief. “Wait your serious?”

I shrug. “What’s jumping off a cliff to almost being drained of all the blood in my body?”

He silent for a couple seconds. He looks like he’s struggling to find the right words. He sighs. “You don’t have to pretend for my benefit.” He says.

I laugh. “Who said anything about your benefit? I want to jump.” I start heading up the cliff. He follows close behind me. Once I get to the top I let my feet dangle over the side. Jared sits next to me.

“If you were human and I hadn’t have just met you I would think you’re crazy.” He says smiling.

I smile. “If I were human i’d think I was going crazy. I guess it’s good that I’m not.” We sit there for a while.

I look at him. “ Earlier you said we were family. I’ve never had a brother or sister. My parents didn’t want anymore kids.” I tell him.

He smiles. “Well now you do.” he gives me a look of mock sternness, “I expect you to call me big brother.”

I laugh. “Not a chance.”

He sighs. “We should probably head back. You and sam have a beach to go to. I have work I have to do anyway.”

I nod getting up. “You helped me a lot. Thank you.”

He smiles. “It’s not a problem. Like I said we’re family now. I’m going to start calling you little sis.” He ruffles my hair and I glare at him. He laughs.

I roll my eyes. “Come on let’s go.” I say. He keeps a smile plastered on his face all the way back to Sam’s house.

When we walk in I can tell Paul is already gone. Sam turns his attention from the tv toward us. “Oh good your back. I was starting to worry. I thought either you weren’t coming back or something bad happened.”

I shake my head. “No. Jared was just trying to cheer me up.” I curse remembering my phone and pull it out. It was dripping with water. “Great.” I sigh.

Sam raises an eyebrow. “What did you guys do?’

Jared clears his throat. “Cliff jumping.”

Anger flashes in Sam’s eyes. “You did what?! Jared she’s extremely new to everything and you decide to do the most dangerous thing?!”

Jared looks at the ground. I look to Sam. “He was just trying to cheer me up. It worked, I feel better.”

Sam sighs. “Still he should have been more careful.”

I nod. “I know. Don’t we have a beach to get to?” I ask trying to change the subject from Jared.

Sam nods. “We should get going.” Sam walks toward the door. Jared shoots me a look of gratitude. I give him a slight nod and follow Sam.

We get to the beach and there’s a few people already there. The water was dark gray, even in the sunlight, white-capped and heaving to the gray, rocky shore. Islands rose out of the steel harbor waters with sheer cliff sides, reaching to uneven summits, and crowned with austere, soaring firs. The beach had only a thin border of actual sand at the water's edge, after which it grew into millions of large, smooth stones that looked uniformly gray from a distance, but close up were every shade a stone could be: terracotta, sea green, lavender, blue gray, dull gold.

I realise this is where Jared took me.

I hear talking and laughter and see kids coming toward us. I notice Mike and Bella right away. I stay next to Sam. I watch bella’s eyes scan noticing there are more people. They walk over. I sit down next to Sam and everyone else takes a seat as well. Paul and Jared walk over and sit down. I look at them surprised. Jared smiles sitting next to me. “Guess I wasn’t that busy.”

I roll my eyes. Everyone introduces each other. Sam introduces us and says my name. Bella looks at me and recognition flashes through her eyes. She gets up and walks over to me. “Lilly? What are you doing here? I thought you were sick. Edward told me you weren’t feeling well.” She says.

I nod. “I was sick. I’m better now. I decided to come hangout.” I say.

She frowns. “I’m sorry about the other day.”

I raise my hand smiling. “It’s fine. My mom died of cancer about a month ago. I’m still upset about it. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have just left.”

Mike walks over. “There you are Lilly. I was worried you had moved again.”

I shake my head. “Your stuck with me.”

A couple girls walk over. Bella introduces me to them. “Lilly this is Jessica and Angela.”

I wave. They go sit back down and everyone starts eating. I just sit there politely not really hungry. Jared elbows me softly. “Hey you going to eat?” He asks.

I shake my head. He frowns. “You should eat something. You didn’t have breakfast.”

I roll my eyes. “I’m fine Jared.”

He sighs. I watch Bella’s friend get up and a boy I remember was Jacob sits next to her. They talk for a while and I try to ignore there conversation. It’s still weird to me that I can hear really good.

I hear the girl Lauren. "You know Bella, Jacob?" Lauren asks from across the fire.

"We've sort of known each other since I was born," he laughed, smiling at her again.

"Bella," she called again, watching Bella’s face carefully, "I was just saying to Tyler that it was too bad none of the Cullens could come out today. Didn't anyone think to invite them?" Her expression of concern was unconvincing. Even to me.

"You mean Dr. Carlisle Cullen's family?" Sam asks much to Lauren's irritation. He was really closer to a man than a boy, and his voice was very deep.

"Yes, do you know them?" she asked condescendingly, turning halfway toward him.

"The Cullens don't come here," he said in a tone that closed the subject, ignoring her question.

I see Bella’s features change but I can’t quite figure out what it is. Jacob talks to her and the look vanishes. I look to Sam. “Sam, you should be more careful how you say things. She hangs out with the Cullens. She might figure out the hidden meaning behind your words and get curious.” I whisper.

He raises an eyebrow. “Good. Maybe the girl will become smart and stay away from them.” He says.

I sigh. I watch Jacob and Bella get up and walk away. I also see Mike watching with Jealousy clears in his eyes.

I get up and walk the trail of the beach. I hear footsteps behind me. “Jared I know your following me. I’m fine. Just thought I’d enjoy the view.”

I turn and see that it’s not. It’s Mike. He cocks his head. “How do you know those boys?” He asks.

I shrug. “They were nice to me. Plus why does it matter to you?”

He shrugs. “Because your new and you already know them. Seems strange to me.”

I roll my eyes. “You should go back and hang with your friend. I want to be alone right now.” I turn and walk again. I don’t hear his footsteps.

I sigh and continue walking. I listen to the breeze and enjoy the saltiness of the ocean. I sit down pulling my knees to my chest. I rest my chin on my knees. After a while it starts to rain. I sigh not wanting to get up. I hear the sound of footsteps after a couple minutes. Someone sits next to me. By the scent I can tell it’s Sam.

“You ok?” He asks.

I nod. “Just enjoying the view.” I say not looking at him.

He sighs. “You should probably get ready to head home. I can call one of the Cullens to come pick you up at the edge of the territories. It would be easier to not have to explain why anyone other than the Cullens are dropping you off.” He says.

I groan. “I don’t want to go home yet.”

He chuckles. “You can still come by and visit. This is your home too.” He says.

I look up at him. “Promise?”

He smiles and I can tell he’s holding back another laugh. “Promise.”

I get up and he pulls out his phone. He calls Carlisle. When he hangs up he frowns. “Most of the Cullens are out hunting.” I hear the distaste in his voice, “There’s only a couple Cullens who could pick you up. One named Emmet offered.”

I nod. “Ok. We should get going.”

We get to the end of his territory and I can see a really expensive car parked. I smile to Sam. “I’ll see you soon.”

He nods and I get out. I see Emmett get out. He wrinkles his nose and he send a glare at Sam. I roll my eyes. “Real mature Emmett.” I say.

He shrugs opening the passenger door. I walk toward and we both wrinkle our noses. “Never going to get used to that.” I say.

Emmett nods. “Me neither. So how are you doing? Last time I saw you you weren’t at your best.”

I shrug. “I’m fine. Other than the fact that I didn’t know what was going on with me and now I do.”

He raises an eyebrow. “What is going on with you? You smell like those weirdos now? They have hated us since we got here. Still don’t know why.”

I shrug. “If you don’t know what they are I can’t say. Even if I wanted to.” I buckle my seatbelt.

He sighs. “I’m going to have to wash the inside of my car after this.”

I glare at him. “I can’t help what I smell like. Remember, you smell just as bad.”

He puts his hands up. “Sorry but I was just stating a fact.”

I sigh looking out the window. “Just drive me home.”

I feel his hand on my arm. “I didn’t mean to offend you.”

I roll my eyes. “Too late for that.”

He sighs. “You know I do know what you are. I just don’t know why your species seem to hate us so much.”

I look at him. “Not to offend you but maybe it’s because you guys drink blood. Your considered the cold ones. They only tolerate you guys because of the treaty it doesn’t mean they have to like you.”

He crosses his arms. “Are you just tolerating us now?” I can hear a slight change in his voice.

I shake my head. “I just met you guys. I can’t judge you based on what you are. You guys seem like your nice. You don’t seem like you do anything bad. Until something happens that changes my view on you guys.” I say.

His features relax. “That’s fair.”

I unbuckle. “You know what. I think I can walk home. Thanks for the trust you put in me Emmet.” My hand goes on the handle and he grabs my arm stopping me. I don’t look at his hand. “Let go Emmet.”

He tugs on my arm slightly. “Please Lilly. I didn’t mean to hurt you. You’ve got to see it from my view. Your now the species of our enemy.”

I glare at him. “So it’s not ok for me to judge you for what you are but you can because of what I am.”

His eyes widen. “No that’s not what I am….”

I cut him off ripping my arm from his grip. “I get exactly what you’re saying.” I open the door and get out.

He’s in front of me in a second. I don’t even flinch. “Move Emmett.” I’m shaking I’m so angry. I feel my control slowly slipping.

He shakes his head. “No you need to listen.”

I go to step around him. His arms pin me to his car. A inhuman growl rumbles in my throat. “Move.”

He shakes his head. “Lillian listen. I was not judging you.”

I glare at him. “Then what were you doing?”

He sighs. “Maybe I was making sure my family was still safe.”
