Twilight fanfict. Book 1

Meet the new member of the pack. Liilian Rayne. What happened to her to be a part of the pack confuses everyone. How could that be possible? She was human. She was born with the blood of a human. Heck she didn't even know supernatural actually exist until she moved to Forks. Her dad thought it was best for her. Guess he was wrong.

9. Port Angeles

They listen to Winry rock songs while Jessica wouldn’t stop talking about the boys they hung out with. She got to Port Angeles pretty face. We made it there by around 4. She talked a lot about her date with Mike. I know the kid who likes Bella? Yeah him. She’s hoping Saturday during the dance they take it to the next level and kiss.

Angela was excited about the dance but she said she’s not really interested in the guy she’s going with. I think she said his name was Eric.  Jessica tried to get her to say what her type was but after a while Bella interrupted with a question about dresses.

Port Angeles is a very beautiful place. It’s more active with people than forks. Jessica and Angela seemed to know where everything was so me and Bella were good to go as long as we stayed with them.

Jessica drove straight to a big department store in town, which was a few streets in from the bay area's visitor-friendly face.

Jessica and them didn’t know what it meant by dressing semi-formal for the dance. Jessica and Angela look at Bella surprised when she says she has never been to a dance in phoenix. With me it was believable considering I lived in Florida.

"Didn't you ever go with a boyfriend or something?" Jess asks dubiously as we walk through the front doors of the store.

"Really,"  Bella tries to convince her, "I've never had a boyfriend or anything close. I didn't go out much."

"Why not?" Jessica demands.

"No one asked me," She answers honestly.

Jessica looks skeptical. "People ask you out here, and you tell them no." We were in the juniors' section now, scanning the racks for dress-up clothes.

"Well, except for Tyler," Angela amends quietly.

"Excuse me?" Bella gasps. "What did you say?"

"Tyler told everyone he's taking you to prom," Jessica informs Bella with suspicious eyes.

"He said what?" Bella sounds like she’s choking.

"I told you it wasn't true," Angela murmurs to Jessica.

I stay  silent, because I have no clue who they are talking about. We find the dress racks, and now we have work to do.

"That's why Lauren doesn't like you," Jessica giggles while we paw through the clothes.

I hear Bella grind her teeth. "Do you think that if I ran him over with my truck he would stop feeling guilty about the accident? That he might give up on making amends and call it even?"

"Maybe," Jess snickers. '"If that's why he's doing this."

The dress selection isn't large, but both of them found a few things to try on. I end up still looking for one. Bella sits on a chair by the dressing rooms and I can tell she’s still mad.

Jess is torn between two - one a long, strapless, basic black number, the other a knee-length electric blue with spaghetti straps. Bella encourages her to go with the blue. Angela chooses a pale pink dress that drapes around her tall frame nicely and brings out honey tints in her light brown hair. Bella compliments them both generously and helps them by returning the rejects to their racks.

I continue my search and happen to find a really pretty red dress that was long which I like considering I think short dresses look tacky on me. I try it on and find that it fits perfectly. There’s a slight poofy ness to the bottom that reminds me of the dress I wore to my wedding that was a real pretty white. Man it feels weird being a kid again. I walk out and they all look at me in silence. I get nervous thinking they don’t like it.

“Should I go change?” I ask. They all shake their heads.

Jessica smiles. “It looks really pretty on you. I swear you could be a model.”

I feel my cheeks heat up slightly.

Angela nods. “Yeah you should really go with that one.”

I nod. “I like it too.” I say smiling. I head back in the dressing room and change out of it, placing it back on the hanger.

We head over to shoes and accessories. While we try things on Bella merely watches and critiques. Bella seemed to be in a bad mood now that Tyler had been brought up.

"Angela?" Bella began hesitant, while she was trying on a pair of pink strappy heels - she was overjoyed to have a date tall enough that she could wear high heels at all.

Me and Jessica leave to go find some accessories leaving Bella and Angela alone to talk.

I could still hear their conversation though I try not to be nosy. The mention of the Cullens hits my ears and I decide to risk being nosy.

"Is it normal for the... Cullens" - I hear her asking while I look for a necklace,"to be out of school a lot?"

"Yes, when the weather is good they go backpacking all the time - even the doctor. They're all real outdoorsy," she tells her quietly, but I can still hear.

I find a necklace and me and Jessica head back towards them. I try to hide the fact that I know what they were talking about and smile showing them the necklace. It had a wolf on it with red crystals for the eyes. They both liked it but I could tell Bella had a lot on her mind.

We planned to go to dinner at a little Italian restaurant on the boardwalk, but the dress shopping hadn't taken as long as we'd expected. Jess and Angela are going to take their clothes back to the car and then walk down to the bay. Bella says she’ll meet up with us because she wants to check out the bookstore. I feel like she wants to spend the time alone and decide to come back another time to check it out being I like reading a lot. Jessica and Angela offered to go with her but Bella had told them to go have fun.

I think for a second. I decide I want to go check out some more stores and told them I’d meet them at the restaurant. The offer to hang out with me but I tell them they should go enjoy the bay. I wasn’t really in the mood to go there right now anyway.

I walk around for a while not really having a set place I wanted to go. I put my hands in my pocket and look around letting my feet take me wherever. I think about all the memories that are mine but at the same time aren’t. My life had been miserable without my powers or being able to be a protector. It felt empty. I mean I had a somewhat happy life but there was always a hole that could not be filled inside of me. At  least that’s how I remember it feeling like. The truth is I feel complete now. I always even in this life felt like something was missing. Now it seems my life is complete now that I can be a protector again.

I remember where I used to live. Virginia and West Virginia had been split apart ten years before I was born. I lived in West virginia where they now call it Elkins. There was a lot of discrimination and segregation back then. No one wanted to accept black people as equals. Of course I should stop now. You probably are tired of it now being you learn about it on school.

I’m just saying my life is much different than most people’s. I grew up knowing my father disapproved of me because of the decision I made to save my race. I grew up feeling empty. I lost most of what kept me going but I still kept going. I still pushed through, even when I doubted my decision multiple times.

My mind wanders as I continue walking not really paying much attention to my surroundings any more. Destiny is a part of me. I may not be her any longer but she’s in me along with her memories. I know a lot more than I ever thought I could possibly know. It all feels a little confusing to me. Like I just can’t quit grasp it.

My head pounds and the sensation in my hands come back stronger than before. I keep my hands in my pockets knowing they are probably glowing right now. Something Destiny’s dad told her echoes in my head.

“You must use your powers every once in a while. Practice with them. If you don’t they could go into overload as I call it. There’s no limit to how much power you can use but if you don’t use it, it will keep building up.”

I sigh and close my fists tightly. I can’t use my powers here in the open like this. It’s reckless and dangerous to even try. The sensation fades again and I look down to see my hands aren’t glowing. I sigh with relief but know I need to practice with my powers soon. They haven’t been used in a very long time.

The sky is darkening and I know soon enough these sunglasses aren’t going to hide the glow much longer. I put my hood up hoping it will help some.

A voice snaps me out of my thoughts. “There you are!” Says a booming voice.

Something familiar hits my nose and I realize it’s Bella. She doesn’t seem to be far either.

"Yeah," a voice called loudly "We just took a little detour."

My pace slows and I follow the voices.

"Stay away from me," I hear Bella say.

I quicken my pace anger flowing through me.

"Don't be like that, sugar," says the voice and I hear laughter.

I catch sight of Bella who looks like she’s about to try to fight them. There looks to be 4 guys surrounding her. She looks deep in thought like she’s trying to remember something.

Just as I’m about to step out I see headlights suddenly fly around the corner, the car almost hitting the stocky one, forcing him to jump back toward the sidewalk. I frown as I see who it is in the car. Well I don’t see him but I definitely smell them.

"Get in," Edward says furiously to Bella. He looks over in my direction but doesn’t say anything. I know he can’t risk letting Bella know he can smell me.

I walk from the shadows. “I was just about to try and help Bella. I happened to hear her while I was walking. I had a lot on my mind.” I say walking over. The men are on the street stunned and Bella already has hopped in.

Edward’s eyes are full of anger. “Just hurry and get in Lillian”

I nod and run over avoiding the guys. I hop in the back and buckle up. Bella looks at me stunned. I pull my hood down further not able to see anything. It’s dark so I know it’s probably noticeable that there is a slight glow under my hood.

Edward drives away without the need off any light or anything.

"Put on your seat belt," he commands Bella. I hear the snap as the belt connects which is loud in the darkness. He took a sharp left, racing forward, blowing through several stop signs without a pause.

"Are you okay?" Bella asks her voice hoarse.

"No," he say curtly, and his tone is livid.

"Bella?" he asks, his voice tight, controlled.

"Yes?" Her voice is still hoarse and I hear her clear it.

"Are you all right?" He doesn’t look at her, but the fury is plain on his face.

"Yes," She croaks softly.

"Distract me, please," he orders.

"I'm sorry, what?" She asks stunned.

He exhales sharply.

"Just prattle about something unimportant until I calm down," he clarifies closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger.

"Um...I'm going to run over Tyler Crowley tomorrow before school?" She says making it sound more like a question.

I stay silent in the back.

"Why?" He asks.

"He's telling everyone that he's taking me to prom - either he's insane or he's still trying to make up for almost killing me last... well, you remember it, and he thinks prom is somehow the correct way to do this. So I figure if I endanger his life, then we're even, and he can't keep trying to make amends. I don't need enemies and maybe Lauren would back off if he left me alone. I might have to total his Sentra, though. If he doesn't have a ride he can't take anyone to prom..." Bella babbles on.

"I heard about that." He sounds a bit more composed.

"You did?" Bella asks sounding stunned, "If he's paralyzed from the neck down, he can't go to the prom, either," Bella mutters.

Edward sighs, and I see him finally open his eyes.

"Not really."

"What's wrong?" Bella asks her voice barely a whisper.

"Sometimes I have a problem with my temper, Bella." He is whispering, too, and as he stares out the window, his eyes narrow into slits. "But it wouldn't be helpful for me to turn around and hunt down those..." He doesn't finish his sentence, looking away, struggling for a moment to control his anger again. "At least," he continues, "that's what I'm trying to convince myself."

"Oh." Bella says.

"Jessica and Angela will be worried,"  Bella murmurs after a while in silence,"I was supposed to meet them."

He starts the engine without another word, turning around smoothly and speeding back toward town. We were under the streetlights in no time at all, still going too fast, weaving with ease through the cars slowly cruising the boardwalk.

"How did you know where... ?" She starts to say but drifts off shaking her head.

I get out feeling a little awkward and I see Edward get out as well.

"What are you doing?" Bella asks Edward.

"I'm taking you to dinner." He smiles slightly, but his eyes are hard. He steps out of the car and slams the door. I flinch at the noise. He waits for Bella to get out by the sidewalk.

"Go stop Jessica and Angela before I have to track them down, too. I don't think I could restrain myself if I ran into your other friends again." He says to Bella the threat clear in his voice.

"Jess! Angela!" Bella yells after them, waving when they turn. They rushed back to us, the pronounced relief on both their faces simultaneously changing to surprise as they saw who we are standing next to. They hesitate a few feet from us.

"Where have you been?" Jessica's voice is suspicious.

"I got lost," Bella admits sheepishly. "And then I ran into Edward." She gestures toward him.

"Would it be all right if I joined you?" he asks in his silken voice. I could see from their staggered expressions that he had never unleashed his talents on them before.

They turn to me. “What about you?”

I shrug. “Was walking around when I spotted them. He offered me a ride back.

Jessica looks back to them. “Er...sure.”

"Um, actually, Bella, we already ate while we were waiting - sorry," Angela confesses.

"That's fine - I'm not hungry." Bella shrugs.

"I think you should eat something." Edward's voice was low, but full of authority. He looked up at Jessica and spoke slightly louder. "Do you mind if I drive Bella home tonight? That way you won't have to wait while she eats."

"Uh, no problem, I guess..." She bit her lip.

"Okay." Angela was quicker than Jessica. "See you tomorrow, Bella... Edward." She grabbed Jessica's hand and pulled her toward the car, which I could see a little ways away, parked across First Street.

I turn to face Edward and Bella. “I’ll head back with them. I can make myself something to eat at home. Thanks for the ride Edward.”

Edward nods. “I’ll see you around Lillian.”

I nod and run toward Angela and Jessica. I hop inside and they look at me. “Got any details?” Jessica asks.

I shake my head. “Not really.”

They both look disappointed like they were expecting some big scoop. I stay silent the rest of the way back to my house.

The drive back seemed to take longer than before and I felt exhausted by the time I walked inside the house.

I get changed without another word and hop into bed immediately falling asleep.
