7. Chapter 6

Anne’s POV

I walk away without another word tears slipping down my cheeks. I feel the darkness inside me pushing to take complete control. I don’t let it. Not completely.

When I saw my wings. It hurt to see they lost their glow, but it gave me an idea.  First I need to look at my reflection. I walk up to a lake and look into the water. My eyes widen.

My wings are almost black, my hair is black, and my eyes are glowing silver. I hardly recognise myself. I hardly recognized my voice. I could sneak in without them recognizing me.

I hear rustling in the bushes and smell a demon. I turn poised ready to fight. It jumps out and cocks it’s head at me.

“What? Take a picture it will last longer.”

It continues staring at me. I see more come out and curse. They surround me. “I’m not in the mood. Let me go or I’ll kill you.”

They all jump at me at once and I try to fight them off. They pin my arms, leg, and wings to the ground. I struggle to release their hold on me. I notice another come out with something in its hand. I feel pain in my neck and everything start to spin. I feel myself go limp and my consciousness slips from me.

I wake up to my head pounding. I groan.

“Glad someone’s finally awake.” I hear the familiar voice of the one person I want to kill. I open my eyes and find his face inches from mine his face turned up into a smile. “Welcome to your new home. Glad you decided to join the right side. Though I must ask what is your name?”

I glare at him. “You make a great first impression.”

The devil angel shrugs. “It’s more fun this way. I’ve been bored lately.”

I quickly try to think up a believable name. He smiles. “Still haven’t got your name pretty.”

“It’s Isabella. Now do you mind telling me why your goons attacked me?” I say annoyed I look around and notice I’m on the bed again. “And why you’re on top of me?”

He shrugs and gets up. “I was admiring your sleeping form. My servants were merely following orders. I sensed your presence from here. A god is curious of a dark angel with as much power as you.”

I grit my teeth. “I was admiring the lake when your little rats attacked me. I needed some peace and quiet. Guess I can’t get that anywhere.” I get up and rub my head.

He hold out his hand. “Sorry they got a little carried away.” I grab his hand letting him help my off the bed.

I stretch my wings. He looks at them smiling. “They are very stunning. So are your eyes. Very unique color.”

I shrug. He claps his hands together in excitement. “So would you like to get a tour of your new home?”

I raise an eyebrow. “My new home? My home is on earth. I like it there.”

He frowns. “Would you at least like to see my pet. I’ve had him for over a month now.”

I hide my anger and nod. “Sure.”

He smiles. “Great.” He grabs my hand and starts leading me.

He sighs and leans his body toward me. “There’s something about you that seems familiar. Comforting.” He looks at me. “Don’t you think?”

I nod my head. “Yeah. Like we have met before.” I smile knowing exactly what he doesn’t.

We get to the open area were his chair is. I notice Jim laying on the ground with a collar around his neck. He looks bruised and malnourished.

“I’m sorry for the condition of my pet. He hasn’t been very…...cooperative.” Satan says.

It takes every ounce of control I have not to kill him right now. Satan looks at me. “What’s the matter hun? You look like you’re about ready to kill someone.”

“Why do you have a werecougar as a pet?” I ask my voice livid.

He looks at me concerned. “Do you want him? I don’t mind giving him away. A welcome home gift.”

I sigh. “I guess but I also need a place to rest and I want him with me.” I try to act like Jim doesn’t interest me.

Satan smiles. “I’ll show you your room. When you’re rested come see me. I’d like to get to know you a little better.” I see mischief and lust in his eyes.

I mentally cringe. “Good cause I’m exhausted.”

A demon picks Jim up and follows me and Satan. We walk inside and the demon drops Jim on the ground. I hear Jim groan. “I’ll be here when you wake up.” the Devil angel says then walks out. I drop to the ground next to Jim.

“Jim. I’m so sorry. This is all my fault if I hadn’t have gotten in a coma you wouldn’t be like this,” I say cupping his cheek. There are tears in my eyes.

His eyes open and he looks at me in disgust. “You must be joking. Satan’s girlfriend wants to help me? Ha! I don’t fall for things easily sweetheart.”

I growl. “I am not that piece of shit’s girlfriend. You should no that better than anyone Jim.”

He glares at me. “How do you know my name?”

I fight with the darkness and feel it retread into the back of my mind. My body glows softly. “Jim. It’s me Anne.”

He looks at me his eyes untrusting. The darkness pulls at me and I feel myself start to lose. “You don’t believe me? I should have gotten here sooner. Maybe if I had fought harder against West and Derek dad wouldn’t be dead.” The darkness tugs at me further.

His eyes soften. “Anne. It’s ok. God I’ve missed you so much.” He hugs me softly.

I hug him back. “I’ve missed you too.”

He pulls away and looks at me. “Nice disguise.”

I shake my head. “It’s not a disguise Jim. I’ve been fighting with the darkness ever since I was in the coma. I feel like giving up and letting the darkness win.” i look at the ground.

He lifts my head and forces me to look at him. “You are not going to give up. Keep fighting Anne. I believe in you.”

I smile. “Thank you Jim. You always know the right things to say. For right now I need to stay like this. For right now the darkness will be my disguise. I will get you out of here Jim. I promise.” I hug him again.

He smiles. “Your acting skills by the way are spot on. You fooled me easily. I thought you were really his girlfriend.”

I roll my eyes. “I just met the guy and he’s all over me.”

He looks at my wrist. “Where’s that bracelet of yours?”

“I think Derek has it. It’s a bow right now. I had an incident with a hunter.” I say with a shrug.

“Sis it’s not safe for you to be out of a coma. At least not without me there to keep you out of trouble.” He says smiling.

“Oh. ha ha.” I say. I look at the collar. I wave a hand over it and it disappears from his neck. He raises an eyebrow at me and I shrug. “I didn’t know I could do that.”

He sighs. “It feels good to be out of that stinkin collar. He had me do things that I don’t ever want to do again.”

I smile. “Well you’re my pet now so you don’t have to deal with that.” I snap my fingers and a piece of bread appears in my hand. “I am just experimenting.”  I hand him the bread and he nods his thanks and eats it.

“I’m sorry you have had to be in here for so long. I’m hoping you won’t have to be in here much longer. I’ll find a way to get you out. I just need to find the right moment to get us both out.” I say. I snap my fingers again and hand him a glass of water.

He gulps it down and I notice his color start to return. He wipes his mouth with the back of his palm. “I know sis. I expected you to try and come save me. It’s always like you to help others.”

I smile. “Are you still hungry?”

He nods. I snap my fingers and hand him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  “Don’t eat to fast. By the looks of it you haven’t eaten a lot since i’ve been gone. You could make yourself sick.” He shrugs taking a bite of the sandwich.

I sit on the bed. “I just made a terrible mistake. I told West that I was leaving. That it was the best thing for you both. I thought it would be best.”

He finishes the sandwich. “Anne, the problem is you push the people you care about away. You think it will help them. It doesn’t they care about you and want to help. Let them. Open up. You can’t always protect them. Also, you need protecting to sometimes.” He sits next to me.

I nod. “I know. I just don’t want anyone to have to protect me.” He hugs me.

“Sometimes we need help and just don’t want to admit it. Get some rest. I know I am. That was by far the biggest meal I’ve had. He gave me some weird shit. I didn’t touch it unless I felt like I absolutely had to.” He says laying on the bed. He closes his eyes and his breathing evens out. I lay next to him but don’t sleep. Instead I watch his chest rise and fall for a little while before I get up carefully and head out of the room.

Satan smiles when he sees me. “I was wondering when you were going to wake up.” He gets out of his chair.

“I don’t like the condition my pets in. He’s malnourished and dehydrated.” I say as he walks toward me.

“He wouldn’t eat. I fed him a special concoction that is supposed to keep him nourished and hydrated.” He says.

I back up when he gets to close. “Well it seems he didn’t like the concoction.”

He takes another step into my personal space and I back up. “There’s something about you that draws me to you Isabella. I have the urge to kiss you. To hold you.” He takes another step toward me and I take another step back. I go through the wall.

“You just met me. How can you feel anything towards me?” I say. I hear Jim stir and curse in my head.

He takes another step and I back up my legs hitting the bed. “You can’t feel it?” He asks.

I shake my head. “No.”

He pushes me and I fall onto the bed waking Jim up. Jim groans and when he sees Satan he growls. Satan flicks his wrist and Jim flies of the bed. I glare at him. “He’s my pet. He sees that I am uncomfortable. He just wants to protect me.” I say angrily.

“He shouldn’t try to stop me from getting what I want. I want you.” He says getting on top of me. I try to push him off but he grabs my wrists and pins them against the bed. He smiles his face inches from mine.

“Do you do this to all the new females?” I ask.

His face moves closer. “No. Just you.” He places his lips on mine.

I tense up wanting so bad to hit him. He flies off of me and goes through the wall. I laugh as I sit up. It looked like a scene from one of those action movies. I quickly recover and look down before he comes in.

I hear him walk in. “I’m sorry. I’m still learning the extent of my powers. I didn’t mean for that to happen.” I try my best to look upset while on the inside I’m still laughing.

He lightly grabs my chin and lifts it. “It’s ok darling. I shouldn’t have pushed you to do it. It’s my fault.”

I look at Jim. “When was the last time he’s seen the sun?” I ask knowing full well the answer.

“Over a month.” Satan says.

I get up and he drops his hand from my chin. “I think I’m going to take him out for a walk then. Pet’s need there exercise.”

He nods. “Don’t be afraid to hurt him if he tries to run off and don’t go to far.” he says.

I smile. “Don’t worry I can handle him.” Plan is in motion.
