Life of a SuperNatural: Book 1a Amy's Story

Dear Diary,

Today I was walking to Starbucks for some coffee, to keep me awake for the day. I never seem to get any sleep anymore. The same could be said for Mark, we're nearly inseparable these days. Just watching out for each other. Watching children's movies all night long reminds me of when we were innocent without a care in the world. Spoiled rotten. I was doing fine, seriously, I didn't think of her at all that morning. Until an old classmate came up to me. Honestly, the only thing I remember of the incident was her words. "Amy I heard what happened I'm so sorry for your loss". And just like that all the work I put into stopping the pain was diminished...

Everything changes when Amy's mother dies and her 'change' happens. In search of answers, what secrets will Amy unearth? What side will she fight for? Who is this new girl, Felicity? Why is she stalking her?

2. Chapter Two

Arriving at my school for the last time, I headed for the auditorium where we were supposed to meet, and quickly put on my graduation gown and cap. My cap was decorated to say, 'Master gave Amy diploma. Amy free!' With Dobby holding onto a little diploma in his arms. Listening to the teachers yell and corral us into alphabetical order by last name, I sigh, this is going to be a long day. Reluctantly, I headed toward the end of the line because my last name starts with the letter S for Sanders.

After lining up, we got seated as the teachers explained for the umpteenth time how to walk across the stage and collect your diploma. I want this to be over already. Scanning the room, I looked for Mark. Mark is one of the only students in this private school that was a minority and was in the top 1% like me.

When I finally found him, he was just a few rows in behind of me, facing the opposite way. I could only see his messy, straight black hair from this angle.

/*I hope I get to talk to him later. */

Soon the parents started to arrive and the noise in the auditorium steadily rose. The ceremony began, and the Valedictorian and Salutatorian said their speeches, and one by one students walked the stage and collected their diploma. Hours went by before I had to get up.

A hundred butterflies soon filled my stomach as I prepared to walk the stage. I watched all the eyes in the audience stare down upon me as I crossed the stage, not even searching the audience to see Mother or Ethan. I quickly walked down the stage keeping a fake smile on my face as I felt the heat rush to my face. I continued walking acting like everything was completely normal, not like I'm praying I won't trip with every step I take.

/*Thank God, my skin is dark, or else I'll be blushing scarlet red right now. */

Collecting my diploma I posed with the principal as cameras flashed.

/* I really hope I don't trip in front of this audience. */

Watching each foot step, I walked down stairs slowly and headed to my seat. Opening up my diploma all I saw was the case. They said the actual diploma will come in the mail later.

I waited as the last row of students finally got up and walked the stage. Looking around I tried to find Mother and Ethan. When I finally found them, I saw they were in the back row. Little Ethan sleeping like an angel on Mother's lap.

As the final applause sounded and the Principal said his thanks to everyone for coming, students all around me started getting up and going towards their families. I stayed seated until the crowd died down, I don't like navigating through crowds besides it will be much easier to reach Mother and Ethan this way.

As the crowd died down and people were heading home I approached Mother I holding my arms out to carry my little Angel.

"Amy, I'm so proud of you. You graduated on the top of your class. All that's left is college and taking over the Vincere-" Mother pauses as she glances at me, "When you're ready."

I respond with a quiet "Okay."

/* Honestly, I don't even want to take over the company. Being the boss of someone or having someone's livelihood depend on me. I just can't see myself in that position.*/

Her words start to blur and I pick out bits and pieces.

"Amy?" Mother kept saying repeatedly as she waved her hand in front of my face.

"Were you even listening to me?" Mother replies, clearly angry at me for ignoring her. I keep silent, I've found that no matter my defense it will just make the situation worse.

Studying my face and seeing no response, she mutters "Sometimes I don't know what I'm gonna do with you."

Looking away in quiet defiance, she gives up an says, "We need to take pictures Amy."

"Amy?" Mother repeats frustrated.

"Yes, Mother." I replied as eloquently as possible. I could just see the tension lines tightening as I studied her face. Watching her shoulders droop as she gave up I quickly I took out my phone and texted Mark.

Amy: Hey mark r u here? 👀

Mark: Yeah. Im over in the back right corner of the auditorium.

Amy: omw

Mark: Amy good job not tripping over anything. 🤯😉

Amy: Mark believe it or not I can actually manage not to trip for one full minute😜

Mark: Rlly? Who's this and what have u done w amy 🧐

Amy: Haha very funny mark😡

Scanning the room I looked for Mark, I found him with his Mom and Grandma.

Mark's monolid black eyes were lit up with excitement as he posed and hugged his Grandma. Being completely ridiculous, the both of them posed in dramatic over the top poses, while his mom hung back and took pictures. It wasn't often his grandma came to visit from Korea.

Carrying Ethy I told Mother, "Mother, I'm going to say hi to Mark. Can we take pictures over there?"

I waited as I studied her face for any sign of disapproval. Once she nodded her consent I approached Mark's family.
"Halmeoni neomu orenman-ieyo" As I quickly went in for a hug. Moving Ethy to my hip so he wouldn't get squished.

(Grandma it's been so long since I've seen you)

"Annyeong Amy-ya. Nado bogo sip-eoss-eo. Neo-e han-guk-eo sillyeok-i naajigo itneun ge boinda. She replied.

(Hi Amy. I missed you, too. I see your Korean is getting better.)

"Gomawoyo halmeoni." I said while smiling over her shoulder.

(Thank you. Grandma)

When I first met Mark's Grandma. I learned she didn't know English that well, and I wanted to communicate with her without Mark being there constantly translating for me. I'm sure I sounded the same way in Korean to her as she did to me in broken English, but I got better with practice. Besides the reward was priceless. Mark's Grandma was really cool and became like a grandma to me, which was nice since mine never wanted anything to do with me.

/* Mark told me his father died before he met me. He never talks about that time. */

Stepping back as my Mother pulled out her phone to take pictures too. I woke up Eth for the pictures. When he was finally awake, he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek saying, "Is it over now?", in a small quiet voice.

A small smile crept upon my face as I adjusted Ethan into my arms. Quickly replying I told him, "Yeah, it's done. We're just going to take pictures now.", as I gently put him on the ground.

"Good. because I was so boreeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddd."

Rubbing his curly short black hair. I watched as his dark brown eyes sparkled as he smiled at me. Placing his small fingers into my hands we started to pose for the photos with Grandma. Some with Mother, others with Mark and his family.

The whole time I was completely ignoring Mark and acknowledging only his Mom and Grandma.

"I see how it is Amy", Mark said as he stood next to his Grandma.

"Heeeeyyy Mark ", I said mischievously, remembering what he implied when I said I could go a full minute without falling flat on my face. Sure, he was right in the figurative sense of me being clumsy, but I don't need him to know that.

"Do you like Grandma better than me or something. " He asked while muttering, "I knew you first."

"Yes. Yes I do like her better. " I replied with the straightest face I could pull without laughing.

/* Can't laugh now Amy. Poker face until the end. */

Unable to keep the slightest smile off my face I watched Mark stare back at me, looking for signs of weakness.

Finally, he said, "That's not funny Amy, " fearing I was being serious.

"Dangsin-i museun mal-eulhaneungeoya?" Grandma cut in.

(What are you saying?)

"Naneun danji malhago iss-eossda Mark neoneun naega joh-ahaneun salam-iya."

(I was just telling Mark that you are my favorite.)

"Jeongjighage Amy, neoneun naega joh-ahaneun neomu joh-a."

(To be perfectly honest Amy, you're my favorite too.)

"Halmeoni!!!" replied Mark shocked at the betrayal. Placing his hands in front of his mouth.

Pressing my lips tight together I tried and failed to suppress my laughter looking at Mark's incredulous expression that lit up his face. As his eyes quickly darted between me and Grandma. He slowly sunk his shoulders in submission knowing he couldn't win against us.

Mark's Mom slowly approached and tapped Mark and Grandma so they could head to their dinner reservation they set up for tonight. Congratulating me, Ms. Won said, "We'll talk more tomorrow, but we really have to be going now or we will be late."

Giving me a quick hug, Mark said, "See you tomorrow!". Then turning to Ethan, lightly brushing his slightly chubby cheek with his hand he continued, " Especially you because you're my favorite."

I rolled my eyes as Ethan smile brightens.

/* The betrayal is real right now. Ethy I trusted you. I thought we were in this together. Me and you against the world. But, I see that it's not like that anymore, Ethy. You've made your choice. I don't love you anymore I only like you.*/

Acting like what they did didn't bother me. I interjected, "Wait, we'll come with you. We have to leave anyway--->right Mother?". Turning around to look at my Mother for agreement as she looks down at her watch noticing that it was half-past six.

"Yes, we should get going now if you want to spend anytime rollerskating" Mother responded.

" Mother, can Ethy come and skate with me today?" I replied as polite as possible as we walked toward the parking lot. Reaching our cars Mark turned around and yelled, "See you tomorrow! Try not to fall!" as he and his family waved to us before leaving.

My jaw almost hit the floor as I watched Mark's family drive away. I only faintly heard my Mother.

"Amy Ethan's only four, he's too young to learn how to skate. What if he gets hurt?"

Straightening out my face I let Mother's words sink in as my shoulders sagged in submission, I nodded my understanding. Glancing downwards at Ethy's face, I mouthed out, "Sorry, I tried."

Ethan gripped my hands a little tighter as if to say it's alright.

/* I take it back Ethy, my little angel. I love you again. */

As we reached Mother's car, I helped put Ethan in his booster seat and said goodbye to Mother. Taking a step back, I watched as they drove away. Once out of sight I climbed into the truck and drove to the nearest skate park. Grabbing my bag from the car I went to the nearest bathroom to change. Replacing my graduation clothes with a shirt that said 'I'm Free!', jeans, shin guards, elbow and knee pads, roller skates, and a helmet. I stepped out onto the smooth polished surface and saw that there were already many people still out there showing off their skills.

Starting off slow, I avoided doing any tricks. Just going around the bowl, slowly picking up speed in the outer edges of the park. Picking up speed I started doing tricks in the bowl. First grinding on the rim and then circling the bowl again as I prepared to do a handstand. Rushing towards the edge I kept my hands out to catch me as I supported all of my weight on my palms. My legs straight up like an arrow as I took a deep breath and swung my feet back landing into the bowl. Circling out of the bowl I approached the pyramid. Reaching the edge of the deck that leads off into a foam pit. I picked my feet up and rotated myself several times before finally landing in the pit. Re-submerging from the pit I was energized. The boring ceremony long forgotten. I kept doing tricks all around the park until I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. Going to a less populated area of the park I slowed to a stop and looked at my phone.

Mother: Hey, when are you coming home?

Looking at the time I texted back:

Amy: I'm leaving now. I'll see you soon.

Grabbing my gym bag off the floor, I got in the car and drove home.

/* Tomorrow is going to be a long day. */

Felicity's Story will be a little faster paced than this if you want to see future events that happen to Amy! I'll try to reduce this as much as possible by updating this story maybe 2 or 3 chapters at a time until it's all synced up.

Sorry, this story is going to move slowly for the moment. If it's going too slow let me know! I just don't want to rush the events that happen before her abilities appear, and what happens to her sisters.

What do you guys think of Amy, Mark, 'Mother', or Ethan at this point? Silly? Serious? Questioning my sanity? Let me know in the comments!
