Broken Hearts Reveal Demons

Katelyn had messed up, and she knew it. The one thing she wanted to know was how to fix it. Her world was crumbling around her, and the one she needed with her most was unreachable, all because of her. She felt like crying, but she couldn't. Firefist's don't cry. The only thing she could do was try and fix the problem she had started, for if she failed, the love of her life could kill others, or himself, and she could never live with herself if she let that happen. Not on her watch.

5. Search for Travis

Katelyn was pacing in Travis and Dante's room. She didn't know what to do. She had to find Travis, but she didn't know how. And as she was pacing, she got an idea for who might know. Dante.

Running out of his room with her hair flying in front of her face and over her shoulders, Katelyn dashed down the upstairs hallway in the Ramirez household, searching for Dante. It wasn't a very large house, so she thought it would be easier than it was. She almost passed the room he was in, which was the game room. She only caught his ocean blue hair out of the corner of her eye as she sprinted past.

"Dante! Dante! Where's Travis?!" Katelyn demanded to know urgently as she slid into the game room. Dante spun around to face her in his spinning chair with a concerned look on his face.

"What do you mean...?" he asked, confusion and worry filling his expression.

"I mean he's gone! He was really upset just now, and then there was a loud sound, and then he was just gone!" Katelyn scrambled to explain to not waste the precious time they needed to find Travis.

"He was upset? Tell me how, exactly."

While Katelyn would have normally made him skip that information, his tone was so serious, she knew it was important.

"Well Gene was blackmailing me... and he said that if I didn't do what he said, he'd tell Travis we were dating, which we're not... and I messed up... so-" Katelyn was cut off by Dante's serious voice shifting to worried.

"You mean he's gone from heartbreak?! This isn't good!" He stood up from the desk chair and started pacing around the room, thinking. Katelyn was a little confused. He hadn't answered any of her questions, and so far he was rendered useless to her as she was trying to find Travis.

"If you can't help me I'll look for someone who can!" she exclaimed with an urgent tone as she began turning to the door.

"I can do better. I can take you to where he might be!" Dante answered her by facing her and holding his hand out with the most forlorn expression known to the world. Katelyn looked at him, then down at his hand, and then back at him. She quickly thought about it and nodded her head once, and then grabbed his hand.

Dante held onto her and took them into a new world entirely, a world she couldn't understand. The fact that she couldn't understand it made her certain Travis was there. It had no other explanation other than overwhelming, and when she looked at herself, she was in her Jury of Nine form. Her eyes were glowing white, and she was in her metal armor, with a large blue gem in the center of the chestplate. She had a long, silver sword that was tinted blue to match her hair and normal eyes, and she felt like nothing could possibly stop her in this form.

"Welcome to the demon realm!" Dante exclaimed, letting go of her hand. Katelyn looked up at him and was surprised by a good amount by how much different he looked.

Dante's body was shattered in various spots. He had pieces scrambled out of place, but most of him was still intact and the same. It could best be described as glitches. His eyes were glowing a bright blue, and he had a large, green, radiant sword at his side.

Katelyn observed him for a few seconds, taking in his new changes in appearance. Once she was used to his form, she spoke in a serious tone.

"So, where could he be?" she asked, scanning the world around them. The sky was thicker than the overworld's, with large gray clouds hanging low in the deep grape colored sky. Katelyn glanced to her left and saw a village that was similar to the towns in the overworld, but they felt different, although she couldn't tell how.

"How about there? That's never been there before," Dante pointed into the horizon to a large, gray building. It appeared to be a church of sorts. Katelyn squinted to see it better.

"Yeah, let's go," she decided. Dante grabbed her arm and transported them to the church, knowing the long distance.

With one glance at the church from up close, they both knew Travis was here. The church was dark through the stained glass windows, and it held a cautious atmosphere.

Katelyn looked at Dante, who looked back at her simultaneously. They nodded once at each other, and then faced the church. Katelyn stepped forward, hearing her heart pound in her chest. Slowly, she pushed the large, wooden doors of the church open, and they swung inward, revealing a dark interior with a musty scent to the heavy air. It was as she was fanning the dust in the air from her face that she saw not one, but two pairs of glowing purple eyes identical to Travis's staring back at her from the darkness.
