26. Shark Bay-Part Twenty-Six-Section 4

Donna Simpkins swam towards The Point. She was concerned about the talk of sharks. She didn't want to think about death; she didn't need to be reminded of dying. At sixteen, she was suggested by Coach Dennis Garson to make the 2020 American Swimming Team. She smiled.  As her long legs kicked outward, she saw the old caves. She saw limestone rocks. Small creatures were watching her. They weren't threatening to her; they were innocent creatures who lived in their own environment underneath the water. Suddenly she saw two rotten looking signs from the 1950's; she knew about the 'Duck and cover' routines at school; she heard about it in depth by her dead Grandmother Margaret. Suddenly she saw it. The beginning of the 'mouth' of the caves. She noticed sea horses, squids, and moray eels. Suddenly she saw several divers were around. They were wearing snorkels in their mouths; they waved at her as they breathed in the oxygen from their silvery gas tanks. Suddenly, and without any kind of warning, she saw ten eggs that were in the cold areas of the deep areas; she saw the thin parts of the morning sun as she shivered. Eggs! Shark eggs! Maybe the mother shark will be back, she thought to herself. She frowned. Then as she left the caves, she headed back to shore before she was attacked.
