I did everything for you.
I thought that what we had was real.

But turns out, you were in it for something else.
Not for me.

I should've known
that you were one of those.

Guess it's all in the past.
But I'll tell you what it's like loving you.
This is a short poem for the A Valentine's Day Writing competition.
I chose to do #1

4. Fights to Makeup Sex

Now that I think about it, whenever we fought, you somehow managed to get me in the bed.
It was your way of saying "sorry" I'm guessing.

I'm such an idiot.
We'd argue for hours and then you'd come up to me saying, "baby, I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean any of it."
And the infamous line that every lying boyfriend says,

"It won't happen again."

I should've known from the start.
It just makes me mad that I had let this go on for so long.

Why didn't I stop it before I got too deep to even get out?
Was I that desperate, that I refused to see it?

Was I that inexperience with love that I didn't want it to end?
I, of all the girls, should've known.

It just blows my mind that I didn't see it coming.
Or maybe I did and I just didn't want to.
