There's nothing I can do.
She's a Romaine.

I can't have him.
He's a Lawrence.

A short story for the A Valentine's Day Writing competition.
I chose to do #2.

3. Run Away

She came.
She looks even beautiful up close.

She smells nice.
If that's not weird.

"Hi," She softly says.
She does have a smooth voice.

"Hi," I reply back.
We just stand there, like losers.

Then I see her shivering.
Wow, it is pretty windy up here.

"Here, take my jacket," I say, taking it off and putting over her shoulders.
She looks up and smiles at me.

"Thank you." I smile back, in awe.
"You're very pretty." She blushes and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.

I walk over to the CD player and find an outlet that is up here.
I press play and soft orchestra music begins to play.
I walk back to her and place a hand out to her.

"Can I have this dance?" I ask.
She smiles and places her hand in my hand.

We dance for what felt like forever.
Then we hear noises near the door.

We look at each other.
"Who is it?" She asks in pure fear.

I shake my head.
"I'm not sure."

Then I place both my hands on either side of her.
"Run away with me." She frowns.

"What do you mean?"
"I mean, run away with me."

- - -

He wants me to run away with him?
"But what about our parents?" I ask.

"Forget them! They don't want us together."
I shake my head.

"I don't know," I say, looking down at the ground.
He places a finger under my chin, lifting it up.

"Listen. I've loved you since I was little. I've always wanted to say something to you,
but couldn't because of our parents and our last names.

I don't want this to be the only moment we have together."
I look into his blue eyes.
He loves me?

"I've loved you for so long, as well." He smiles at me.
Then he leans down and connects his lips to mine.

Then we hear a bang.
He looks at me.

"Run away with me."
Without hesitation, I nod my head.

"Okay." He smiles.
Then he grabs my hand and leads me to a different door.

He opens it and there are different flights of stairs.
We go down them and at the front door, a door holder is holding a big black bag.

"What's that?" I ask him. He looks down at me and grins.
"Money." My eyes grow.

"That bag is filled with money?" I ask, in disbelief.
He nods. He takes the bag from the door holder and tips him with a hundred dollar bill.

"This is all my money in my bank account. I've planned this out ever since I left the library.
I was just hoping you were going to say yes to my offer." I look up at him and smile.

We walk out of the building and he lifts a hand up for a taxi.
When a taxi pulls up, he opens the door and puts the black bag inside of it.

We both turn around and our parents are running after us.
We look at each other.

"If you don't want to do this, you don't have to," He says to me.
I shake my head.

"No. I want this. I've always wanted this."
He smiles.

Then without wasting any more time, we get in and the taxi driver drives away.

The end!
Like I said before, it's a short story. I hope you like it! Thanks for reading! xo
