Jack raced to the cellar and said, “Jess has been captured by the enemy.”

“WHAT?!” Elsa cried. She dashed out of the cellar and went to the window, where there were no enemies around.

Then the guards came and said, “Your Majesties, I’m sorry. We tried to get Princess Jessica out of their hands, but their men were too strong.”

Jack put a hand to his forehead and said, “How will we get her back?”

“Perhaps we can attack them back, Your Majesty.”

“What if attacking them puts Jessica’s life in danger?”

“Then we can sneak in and get Princess Jessica back.”

“Then you will be put in danger.”

“As long we get the princess back, our lives are worth nothing.”

“No.  Your lives mean everything.”

“Princess Jessica motivates us. She is everything to us.”

“You are enamored of her?”

“No, Your Majesty. We are indebted to her.”

Jack was stunned, but didn’t show it.

“Jack...she means something to them. She means something to us. It’s like she’s got a spell or something that’s making people feel that way about her,” Anna said.

“She does have a spell. It’s in her blood. I’ll get her alone.”

At 10 in the morning, he mounted the horse and Elsa and Anna went up to Jack.

“Be careful, Jack. You don’t know what’s out there,” Elsa said.

“I will, Elsa. I’ll have Jess with me when I come back.”

He then smiled, and then spurred the horse on. Within seconds, he was gone.

Elsa then looked at Anna. “Do you think he’ll live?”

“Yes.” Anna said. “I’m positive.”

About 6 hours later (Neamond was 300 miles away, and there was no other way to get there quickly), Jack then reached the border of Neamond. When he reached the gates, a guard standing there said, “HALT!”

Jack came to a halt, signaling his guards to do the same.

“Where do you come from?” the guard asked.

“I’ve come from Arendelle for my daughter, Princess Jessica.”

“Princess Jessica, huh? I heard they were going to chain her up and torture her to get some information out of her.”

“Torture her?!” Jack cried.

“For what information?”

“I am not allowed to tell anyone what information.”

“I want to see her.”

“You want to just see her? Not rescue her?”

“Yes.” Jack lied for the first time in his life.

“I’m not supposed to do this, but alright.” The guard then opened the door.

“But I’ll warn you right now, what you’re going to see is not for the faint of heart,” he warned.

He then led them down into a dungeon hallway. Jack heard someone say “Jessica” and then someone crying out.

“Jess!” Jack said, and went past the guard and looked through the doorway to see Jessica chained on her wrists and ankles, suspending her in the air. Thankfully, nothing had happened to her yet. Then he saw spikes on the metal chains, which were frozen.

“So, you’re magical, hmm?” a voice to the side said. “That may be used to our advantage. You could be used against your own kingdom. That would be treason. Your father wouldn’t be happy with that. Or anyone, for that matter.”

“What do you want from me?” Jessica said.

“Arendelle’s secrets,” the voice replied.

“Well, you’re not getting them from me. I don’t know any.”

“I’m sure you do, you just aren’t telling me.” the voice replied to Jessica.

Then the chains on Jessica’s wrist grew tighter as they were forced backward.

“Be careful of what you say. Pretty soon those chains of yours will grow tight, and then you won’t feel anything,” the person to the side told her.

“I didn’t need to know that.”

“Now you do. I’ll cut you some slack, just so then that way you’re more cooperative.”

The chains then loosened, and Jessica rattled them in anger.

“Let me out of here!”

“I’m sorry, but that can’t be done.”

“It can be done, you just don’t want to do it.”

“You know, your father’s not going to rescue you.”

“Why not?”

“Because…” The voice laughed. Then finally, a brown haired, brown eyed man appeared. He had a royal crown on his head. It was King Gabriel.

“My guards will get to him the second he enters the kingdom. Then, he’ll be chained right beside you.”

Jessica said nothing.

“Besides, your father’s a nitwit. He wouldn’t allow my son to marry you. You look perfect for my son. You just have to work on your attitude.”

“So you want me to marry your son just because of my looks?”

“Of course. I should have known to get to know you better before I judged you. Too late for that, I suppose.”

“Get me out of these chains.”

“Never mind. I do know you better. You seem to have no respect for royalty. I’ve heard that you’re friends with a commoner! That’s no way to behave like a princess.”

“Who are you to chide me about royalty and respect? You have no respect for me!”

Gabriel went to a wheel and turned it to the left, causing Jessica’s chains to grow tighter and stretch her body. Jessica had no reaction, so he turned it to the left again. This time she cried in pain.

“There! Your weakness! I know how to get you to talk.”

“I would suggest you stop torturing my daughter, lest you want to truly go to war,” Jack said, appearing in the doorway.

“King Jackson! How long have you been standing there?” Gabriel cried, looking behind him and seeing Jack in the doorway.

“Enough for me to see that you're inhospitable. Release my daughter.”

“Never! Guards! Seize him!”

The guards moved like lightning and grabbed Jack by the arms. Then, before Jack could fight back, they had put him into chains just like Jessica was.

When Jack realized what had happened, he then said, “Let us out of here!”

“I’m sorry, King Jackson, but that will not be done.”

Jack was quiet and simply stared Gabriel down. Gabriel stared back at him until Jack looked away.

“Now, I’m going to leave, let you rebuild, Jessica. Meanwhile, you two can talk. But do not try to escape. I have guards ready to strike if you do.”

Before he left, he put a stool underneath their feet. Afterwards, he loosened their chains just enough so that they could move, but not enough so that they could escape. He then left the room and closed the heavy iron door behind him. After that, everything was quiet.

Then finally, Jack spoke first.

“How’d they get you?”

Jessica said nothing at first.

“They grabbed me from behind and thrust me out the window. King Gabriel caught me, bound me up in rope, and then dragged me here. Chained me up afterwards,” Jessica said.

Jack said nothing. Jessica stayed silent after that.

Then Jack said, “I’m sorry for what I did. Making you marry. What was I thinking?”

“You were thinking that I could get you an alliance. That I could be your pawn to a war, that the alliance I made would put you in good hands.”

“You will never be a pawn in war, Jess. Where did you get that idea?”

Jessica didn’t answer.

“Jess? Where’d you get that idea?”

Again, no answer.

Finally, Jack said, “Ok, Jess, you don’t have to tell me. But I promise you, you will never be a pawn in war. Before I go to war with King Gabriel, I’ll make sure that you are safe. I don’t want you hurt. I don’t even know why I let you fire at them.”

Jessica was silent.

They were both silent. Then, 5 hours later, Gabriel came in again.

“Hello again, you two. I just came in here to say good night, and that I’ll see you tomorrow.”

He didn’t wait for an answer and closed the door quickly.

Then everything was silent.

Then Jack said, “We have to get out of here.”

“I know how.”

“There’s a key over by the doorpost. If I could undo these chains, I could get over to the key and unlock you.”

“How do you plan on getting out of those chains?”

Jessica was silent. He was sure she was thinking, so he stayed quiet.

Then he heard cracking and looked at Jessica to see that her chains were beginning to break. Then the chains near Jessica’s wrists broke, and her hands were free. She then froze her ankle chains and broke those as well. Then she was free.

“Jess, how did you do that?”

“I have ice magic, just like you.”

“How did you know I have ice?”

“I’ve seen you use it. I’ve also seen ice pool on the floor from your feet when you’re mad.”

“Well, it’s a good thing you got out of there. Can you help me get out of these?”

She ran to the doorpost and grabbed the key off the hook. She then raced to Jack and unlocked him.

Jessica still had the iced-over thick metal bracelets with a little trail of chains on them. But she seemed not to mind.

Jack dropped to the ground and said, “Let’s get out of here.”

An alarm sounded.

They moved towards the door, but the guards grabbed them by the arms and said, “We’re going to wait for the king to get down here.”

Then Gabriel came down and said, “Well, I guess I should’ve thought of this. Guards, put them in separate cells. Make sure that they are apart.”

In each cell in that hallway was a clock and a hammock. They were the comfortable cells.

Jack was thrown into a cell on one far end of a hallway. Jessica was thrown into a cell 3 doors away from his.

Then Gabriel went the cells and said to them, “Now you can’t escape together. I’ll make sure I get Arendelle’s secrets.”

Then he left the dungeons, leaving Jack and Jessica there. The guards left as well, as there was no reason to watch them in the guards’ minds.

It was silent. Jack didn’t say anything to Jess, and Jess didn’t say anything to him. They were both too depressed to say anything.

9 hours later, Jack and Jessica still hadn’t talked to each other. Jessica was simply drawing with her finger on the walls. Jack had fallen asleep 8 hours ago. Jessica hadn’t fallen asleep at all.

She began thinking of ways to get out, but knew that she couldn’t, not alone, anyway. Her father was asleep, so she couldn’t call out to him.

Then she realized. There WAS no way out. They were stuck there for eternity. Unless she could figure a way out, there was no way that they could possibly escape.

When Jack woke up, at first he didn’t know where he was. Then it all came back. He and Jess were captured in Neamond’s dungeons.

He got up, went to the bars, and focusing intently, froze the bars. He then smashed them and dashed to Jessica’s cell.

“Jess! Hang on, I’ll get you out of there!”

He then saw Jessica’s surprised face and said, “I froze the bars and smashed them. Stand back.”

She went to the very back of the cell. He did the same thing with her bars and then Jessica raced to him and hugged him.

He went rigid for a second, and then hugged her back. He then whispered to her, “Let’s go home.”

He then led her out of the dungeon. They were able to make it to Jack’s horse. He then lifted her up onto the horse and then got on himself. The guard he had met earlier was nowhere in sight.

“Hang on tight, Jess. I don’t want you to fall off.”

So she hung on, and they went full speed to Arendelle.

When they reached it, it was 9 am. Elsa was in her office.

The guard, seeing that Jack had come back with Jessica, immediately went inside to tell Elsa.
