5. The Knight of Grim Tidings-Part Five

The next morning Lord Charles felt the warm sun hit the Mansion's windows. He got out of bed, then was dressed. The Grandfather clock chimed seven. He opened the bedroom chamber door, then walked towards the Dining Room. The smells of the food wafted from the kitchen. "My Lord, sit down on the chair", Llewellyn Grimes, the cook, said. Lord Charles nodded. Then, as he waited for service, Lady Elizabeth, who slept on her bed in the dim chambers, yawned. She strode towards him. "My Lord, I had a fitful sleep. I dreamed of the Knight of grim tidings; I dreamed of the horses with red eyes. It was ghastly". Lord Charles kissed her left hand. "My Lady, it's true such legends about the knight is true. But dreams are dreams. They're not real; they're part of the tales we all tell to entertain ourselves. Please join me". She bowed. Suddenly Father Randall Y. Parker, and Lord Daniel arrived. They smiled at them. "Good morning my Lord", the Father said. He walked towards the fireplace. The crackling of the fireplace still burned; the fire was coal-black. Lord Charles spoke. "While we dine, let me say that tonight is the night we can see the Knight". Lady Elizabeth gasped. "I shall not hear of evil; evil is part of the deadly consciousness of the mind", she said. Lord Daniel felt his blood turn cold. "My Lady, I'll protect you from the Knight". Lady Elizabeth smiled. "I won't let you die my Lord; I won't your death taint our courting", she said in a pain, serious, voice. Lord Daniel kissed her gently. Then he nodded, as both of them ate their breakfast with the Father and Lord Charles.
