Margaret left school in a hurry. She ran towards her house. The thunder boomed. She grabbed her books, and headed towards her house. By six o'clock, she said: "Mother! Father! Mother! Father! Mother! Father!". All she heard was darkness...an eerie darkness. And she cried. She was alone in the house. Suddenly she heard the sound of yelling outside. She opened the front door. A boy was shivering. "Tom! Are you alright?", she asked him. Tom, a ten year old thin boy, nodded. "Aye, I am. Mother kicked me out of home because she can't afford to keep me; she is away in Ireland with Father", he answered. He smiled. "Come inside. I'll cook dinner for both of us". Tom, who was grateful, ran through the front door. And, as the door closed, both of them reached the grand looking Dining Room, where he warmed himself by the fireplace.
