Long Way Home

The years seemed to have past rather fast since that fatal night. She stopped crying herself to sleep, the thoughts of what she did wrong stopped flooding her mind, and she was finally able to live a normal life. That was until she got a phone call from her mother about her grandmother's death, causing her to have to take a trip back to her home town, a place where her darkest moments remain. Can she shed light on this once dark memory, or will things just repeat themselves?

1. Prologue

The loud noise started blaring louder and louder as I stood there in the pouring rain. The blood lined the road leading up to me. I looked down at my arm, which was covered in so much blood that it was unable to be seen. You would think that with the rain the blood would be washing away, but clearly that wasn't the case.

"Mia!" I turned my head to see my childhood best friend Harry running up to me.

"Harry." I felt the tears crash down my cheeks.

"What in the world is going on?" He rested his hands on my shoulders as he looked me in the eyes.

"I didn't…It just…" The words didn't want to come out.

"Mia, what happened?" His voice was so concerned.

"I thought she was my friend… why would someone who called themselves your friend do something so cruel…" The tears were getting heavier.

"Who? Marie?"

"She kissed him Harry, right in front of me.."

"He loves you though Mia, nothing can change that.."

"No. He kissed her back, he wrapped his arms around her pulling her closer to him. He never loved me it was all some kind of game." I fell to my knees.

"And your arm?" He bent down next to me.

"I ran out of there so fast that I wasn't paying any attention and ran straight out into traffic.."

"What?!"

"Harry I think it's time I get out of this town, it's too painful being here.. I need a fresh new start…"

"Please don't leave…"

"I'm sorry…
