Ellie yawned.

She put the book away on the shelf.

She saw the other assassins were whispering to each other. She couldn't believe she would be attacked; she was a quiet girl. She glided down the dim halls. As she did so, she saw a servant-boy holding a bright candle in his left hand. He had short, blonde hair, green eyes, and tall for his age. He smiled at her.

"Is there anything you'd like to eat?", he asked her.

"An apple, please?", Ellie answered.

"It's free", he said. Ellie nodded.

"What's your name?", she said.

"Jameson. I am in the employ of Lord Markham of Mississippi", he said. He smiled at her. "I'm Ellie, a witch", she said.

"A witch! I have heard a lot of stories about them. Some are good; some are evil", Jameson told her. He smiled at her.

"I'm a good witch. Besides, I have to get Candle my cat".

"You have a cat", Jameson said.

"Yes, he's my familiar". Jameson nodded.

"Let's go to the chambers". And she followed the servant-boy towards the warm fireplace where Candle was being patted by Edward the elf in his chair with his hands.

Ellie grabbed onto her cat.

"Candle, I've missed you", she said.

The cat purred, then jumped onto her lap.

"She likes you", Jameson said.

"Yes she does", Ellie stated.

And she walked towards the fireplace...and noticed the assassins were fast asleep.

The cold, wintery conditions were horrible. Jacob Wane stared at the village. He hadn't thought about the trouble with the dark orcs. He gazed at The Regal Tavern. Several goblins were warming their grey hands. On the hard ground were sharp daggers. Jacob, who was thirteen, noticed the group were wearing black cloaks across their bodies. He looked at the front door. He was used to sneaking away from his parents when they were fighting. He opened the door with his left hand, then headed towards the fireplace. Jacob saw Ellie was with Edward. Candle's eyes focused on the stranger. "Who is it?", Ellie asked it. She glanced at the boy. She didn't know his name.

"I'm Jacob Wane, son of Lowell and Kelly Kane", he said. Ellie nodded.

"Everyone's safe in here", she told him.

"I've had a lot of problems with dark orcs. They're dangerous". She nodded. Then Candle jumped out of Ellie's lap. It headed towards the dark arches. Jacob saw the servant-girl. "May I have some stew, and buttered bread, please? And a room for the evening?", he asked her.

"Yes, five gold coins", she answered.

"Here's ten gold coins. It's for two nights". And he took out a heavy black bag. Then he stared at Ellie.

"Will you be here tomorrow?", he asked her.

"Yes", Ellie answered him.

"Good", Jacob said.

And he smiled.
