Army Tanks - Lashton

''This is no girl scout camp, Private.''

''Sir, No, sir.''

Luke is the scrawny new guy in the army, where no one think he belongs.

Ashton is the sir in Luke's tent, and not going easy on any of the boys.

21. ''he's ugly''

I looked down at the little boy in my arms, smiling at him, rubbing his cheek with my index finger.

There was a small knock on the door.

''Come in...'' I said, looking up at the door.

Soon after the door opened, and Ashton came in, a paper bag in his hand.

''I brought you some food. The nurses got contact to James. He's on his way.'' He said, as he sat down on the chair beside the bed, and put the bag on the table.

''Speaking of James. When are you going to tell him, that it actually isn't his, but my son?'' He then asked, making me let out a sigh.

''I don't know if I'll ever tell him. I don't want him to get mad at me. He doesn't have much time left anyway...'' I said, looking down at the little boy.

''What do you mean?'' Ashton asked, even though he probably already knew what I meant.

''James has cancer. He's going to die in five months at the latest... He's probably gonna pass away in three, because he never takes his medication, unless I force him.'' I said, as tears filled my eyes.

''I'm so sorry.'' Ashton said, clearly regretting that he asked.

I looked down at my little son, kissing his forehead lightly.

''It's not your fault.'' I replied, wiping my eyes, and looking at Ashton.

''So... How's things going between you and... Cammy?'' I asked, only remembering that her name started with c.

''Carly. And we broke up about two months after we met you at the store. She kept on saying you were fat, and that you just used being pregnant as an excuse, because male pregnancy wasn't normal.'' He said, makin me look down.

''Oh. I'm sorry.'' I mumbled, looking at the little boy in my arms.

''It's okay. I didn't really like that much anyway. I mostly got with her, to try and get over you.'' He admitted, making me look up at him.

I sighed deeply, looking at him, something in me just wanting to kiss him.

And I would've if there wasn't a knock on the door right then.

''Come in.'' I said, and the door opened, revealing a worried looking James, who rushed over to the bed.

''I'm so sorry baby. I forgot my phone at the office, and we were out having a goodbye party. No alcohol I promise. And th- Oh my god he's so cute...'' James said, completely forgetting his excuse, as he looked down at the little boy in my arms.

I smiled softly at him, seeing how uncomfortable Ashton looked in the corner of my eye.

James leaned down and kissed me on the lips for a few seconds, and I heard Ashton let out an annoyed sigh, making me pull back, and hint to James that we weren't alone in the room.

''Where are my manners. I'm James. Luke's husband. And you are?'' James asked, stretching his hand towards Ashton.

''I'm Ashton. I was in the army with Luke.'' Ashton replied, grabbing James' hand, and giving it a firm shake.

''I should get going. Eat the food before it goes cold Luke.'' Ashton said, hugging me quickly, where he also kissed my cheek, unnoticeable to James.

He smiled down at the little boy in my arms, before he was out the door.

''I don't like him.'' James said, as soon as the door closed.

''What do you mean?'' I asked, turning my head to look at him.

''I don't know. He just gives off a bad vibe. And he's ugly.'' James said, and I was about to say that then the baby in my arms, was ugly to, but I kept my mouth shut.

''Ashton is not ugly. Anyway. I've been thinking about baby names.'' I said, changing the subject.

After a week I finally got home from the hospital, with little Elliot.

He had been a little ball of sunshine the whole time, and was actually not that big of a problem at night.

Or any other time for that matter.

He was very quiet, and I got concerned, and looked on the internet, seeing that it was actually rather normal, for a baby.

I woke up from my nap, because he was crying.

I got up from the sofa, and walked to the bedroom, and walking over to the crip, and lifting him up.

''Shh.. I'm here now... I'm here...'' I whispered soothingly, as I rubbed his back.

Suddenly there was a knock an the door, but luckily Elliot calmed down by then.

I walked out and opened the door, Elliot on my arm, as he tried to fit his whole fist in his mouth.

''Oh. Hey Ashton.'' I said, smiling lightly at the taller man.

I had made a deal with him, that when James was at checkups, he could see Elliot.

''Hey. And hi little man.'' He said, a smile instantly on his lips, when he looked at Elliot.

Honestly, Ashton had actually helped me pick the name, since James wasn't too much help.

Ashton carefully took Elliot from my arm, holding him, a smile permanent on his lips.

I smiled softly at them, and closed the front door, leading Ashton to the living room.

''Are you okay? You look a little tired. I don't hope that Elliot is keeping you up at night.'' Ashton asked, sounding concerned.

''No no. He's been a little angel at night. I just woke up from a nap a few minutes ago. Which reminds me that he's probably hungry. I'll be right back.'' I said, before getting up from the couch, and walking to the kitchen.

I took the filled bottle from the fridge, heating it up in the microwave.

I turned it off on the switch, before it made any noise, knowing that Elliot hated it.

I then walked back to the living room, since the bottle had the right temperature.

''Do you want to do it...? Or should I...?'' I asked Ashton as I sat down.

Ashton took the bottle from my hands, and carefully began feeding Elliot.

I smiled lovingly at the sight, now regretting not telling James the truth.

But James is sick.

I don't want to do that to him.

I was ripped from my thoughts, when I heard my phone ringing.

I looked at the ID, seeing it was an unknown number.

I answered the phone, and pressed it to my ear.

''Luke Bleigh speaking.'' I said, standing up from the couch, and heading towards the kitchen.

''Hello Luke. I am calling about your husband James... He...'' The doctor said, clearly not knowing what to say.

''Please tell me he isn't dead, and that he's cured.'' I said, even though I already knew the answer to that.

Tears filled my eyes.

''I'm so terribly sorry. The doctors were taking tests, when he suddenly fainted. He had a heart attack. We couldn't get him back. I'm so sorry.'' The doctor said, but I cut him off, by hanging up the phone.

I sat down at the table in the kitchen, burying my face in my hands.

James is dead
