In Between The Trees

I told her not to go, in between those trees were things that you wouldn't even see in your nightmares. But she did anyways, and now it's up to me to find her. I made a promise that if she left that I would come back for her...and I do not break promises.

8. Chapter 7. Breakfast time!

My nose started to twitch and my eyelids slowly opened. I smelled bacon. I don't know where it was coming from but I was starving and I needed it, now.

I propped myself up on my elbows, not wanting to get out of this heaven bed I was in. “Soria?” I asked exhaustingly.

“Good Mornin’ sunshine.” The voice was surprisingly familiar but it wasn't Soria. “Roscoe?” I asked, looking at him through my still tired eyes. “Yahtzee.” He replied, I could tell he was having fun with himself. He seemed happy when he was cooking.

“Goodmorning my love.” Came from a different voice. “Soria?” I asked much more excited now. “You got it.” Is all she said.

“Well Good Morning to you to guys.” I replied to both of them. Roscoe just smiled and said, “Hope you like bacon.” I smiled even wider at the thought of crispy, greasy, fried pig in the morning.

“Mmm, fried pig.” I said while licking my lips.

“Not pig princess, deer.” Roscoe muttered. “Fried deer? Are there no pigs around these trees?” I asked.

Soria just shook her head. “Not pig exactly, it’s only boar around here and fried boar isn't as good as deer.”

I laughed nervously. “First time for everything I guess.” I replied.

“How about you go take a quick shower, put on a fresh pair of clothes, brush them pearly whites, and by the time you're done, breakfast will be on the table nice and hot.” Soria said, while wiping the grease off her hands with a rag.

I agreed and started to get up out of the bed, already missing the absence of the memory foam and the bamboo soft sheets.

“I have two questions real quick though.” I announced while Soria looked up at me, obviously wanting me to ask. So I did. “Um one, where’s the bathroom, and two, why is Roscoe in your tent making breakfast, doesn't he have a kitchen in his tent to?”

Soria answered them without turning around, still cooking. “The bathroom is right outside my tent to the left. And Roscoe does have his own kitchen but I have a lot of the spices and things here that he needs to cook and besides we’re just really good friends so he usually always eats breakfast at my place.”

I nodded and went to head out before Roscoe stepped in front of me, blocking my entrance and said, “Come on Opal, do you not want me here? I thought you loved my company.” He said with a slight smirk starting to form.

I just laughed while rolling my eyes and replied, “I do I do, I was just curious.” Before I gave him a chance to say anything back in reply I asked Soria, “Are you sure I should be going to the bathroom alone? With the way everyone sees me as some monster?”

Soria gave me a reassuring smile. “You should be fine, besides the bathroom is literally right next to my tent.”

I nodded then asked one last thing, “Also, I was just wondering where you guys put my duffel bag so I can grab an extra pair of clothes to change into.” She pointed right next over to the guest bed and I just mouthed a simple thanks, grabbed my bag, then attempted to push Roscoe out of my way, and headed out.
