Jessica Frost: Daughter of a Guardian

Jessica Frost is the half-demon daughter of Jack Frost. She has white hair flowing to the middle of her back, striking blue eyes, and a naughty attitude. When she is chosen as the next Guardian, she is shocked as to why and what Guardian she has been chosen as.

23. Duty Calls

While Jessica was snuggling with Jack, like she always did, she suddenly jerked.

"Jess?" Jack said, "Are you okay?"

Jessica then said, "No."

She got up and Jack said, "What's wrong?"

"Death. Alice warned me that if I didn't do what I had to, she could make me. Remember what I'm here for? Killing? I have to do that."

Jack sighed and said, "Go do what you have to, Jess."

Jessica smiled and said, "Bye Daddy."

She hugged him goodbye and left.

Jack waited for days for her. When she didn't come back, Jack went out and began looking for her. He looked for her for months, but never found her. During the time she was gone, Jack worked with Pitch, causing cold and fear. He'd hoped while causing trouble with Pitch he would at least see a glimpse of her, but it never happened.

A year after she'd left him, he found her on top of a roof. She had a long black cloak with the hood over her head and her scythe in her hand.

He flew down to her and said, "Hey Jess!"

Jessica looked at him and smiled. "Hey Daddy. It's been a while."

"It's been a year! I...I'm so glad to see you! Especially because it's been so long."

"Can I stay with you tonight?"

Jack chuckled. "Why not? Sure."

Jessica then went and took his hand. She then said, "I must show you something."

She led him to an abandoned house and said, "Here we are. Home sweet home."

Jack was looking around, astonished. "Jess, you lived here?"

"I still do."

The place was dark and gloomy, with a broken chandelier that looked like it would fall any moment, stairs that had given way long ago, and doors that were hanging off their hinges.

"It's so...well...DARK."

"Yeah, I made it that way. I mean, I didn't do anything to the furniture or the doors. They were like that when I got here." She sat down in a chair in the living room and said, "Well, make yourself at home."

Jack sat down across from her and Jessica snapped her fingers. Light came on from lamps placed around the room.

"So," Jessica said. "How's life been?"

"It's been all right."

He told her about some of the things he and Pitch had done. Then he said, "What do you think?"

Jessica shook her head. "You need to get away from him. He's a bad influence on you and he'll just make your life worse."

"How can you say that?" Jack said. "You joined up with us!"

"I never joined up with you. I may have said I did, but I never truly did."

Jack looked surprised. " lied?"

"I lied. I don't think you'll ever understand my reasons, but I lied so that Pitch wouldn't hurt you."

"Jess, he hasn't hurt me."

"He will soon enough," Jessica said angrily. "He'll hurt you, and where will you be? Left alone! You may have me, but I may not be of much help."

"You will be of help, Jess. But I'm telling you, he won't hurt me."

Jessica stood up. "He will hurt you. And if you're too blind to see it, then there's nothing I can do. You think he's the good guy. I'm telling you he's not."

"How do you know? You were never on his team."

"I USED TO DATE HIM!" Jessica screamed.

There was silence. Then Jack said, "What?"

"You don't know this, but I used to date him a couple years ago. This was before you joined up with him. I loved him at first. Then he grew angry and hurt me, verbally and emotionally, but never physically. I broke up with him and vowed myself to keep you away from him, so he wouldn't hurt you." She paused. "I guess I was too late."

Jack took her into his arms and whispered, "If he evers hurts me, I'll warn you. If he ever hurts you, he'll pay."

Jessica laid her head on Jack's chest and they lay there until they finally fell asleep together on the couch.

It wasn't the end.
