December kalender

5. 9. December "Angel Beats"

Otonashi awakens only to learn he is dead. A rifle-toting girl named Yuri explains that they are in the afterlife, and Otonashi realizes the only thing he can remember about himself is his name. Yuri tells him that she leads the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront) and wages war against a girl named Tenshi. Unable to believe Yuri's claims that Tenshi is evil, Otonashi attempts to speak with her, but the encounter doesn't go as he intended.

Otonashi decides to join the SSS and battle Kana, but he finds himself oddly drawn to her. While trying to regain his memories and understand Tenshi, he gradually unravels the mysteries of the afterlife.

I feel like I have to tell you guys that there is a lot of characters in this anime. But believe me when I say that each character brings a little to the show. The main character is the orange haired boy to the left of the front girl. Otonashi is a boy who can't remember his own death, yet the others can. He doesn't seem to be that troubled about not knowing in the show, but of course, you figure out his heartbreaking story at one point. He has the most lines but the ones with just a few lines really go to the heart. Like TK! He was and will always be my favorite of the people in this series. He doesn't do much, he mostly dances around and the other people don't understand much of what he says (Because it is in ENGLISH ohoho)

You never really get TK's story told, but there are a few that have been playing with the thought or might even truly know. But I don't... BUT! I believe that this is the only one that made sense for me. And I wanted to tell you guys this story, even if it might not be the right one.

TK’s Story:

He was an American citizen who fell in love with the daughter of a Yakuza boss. When the Yakuza boss found out, he kidnapped them both and threw them in the cells underground. Their cells were right next to each other, but it is heavily soundproofed that neither of them knew they’re so close to each other. They starved for one week and were then taken out. The girl’s father told TK that he had to dance. If TK stopped dancing the girl would lose a part of her body one by one: toes, then finger, then legs and arms. TK danced for five days without sleep until his body was unable to move. His girlfriend died by the end of the week. TK was then tortured to death, his death drawn out over the course of one month. When TK appeared in the afterworld, he lost his entire memory, remembering only the first English sentence his girlfriend had ever learned, “I Kiss You.”

True or not, the father’s crazy. I mean killing his own daughter? Why?

Kana is the girl with white hair. Also called Angel. She doesn't show any emotions and she walks around killing people so that they will behave. Just so you guys know. You can't really die in this world, but it will hurt when you get stabbed and there will be blood, but you wake up after a while again. Kana is known as someone sent from God. A girl that can't leavGodhis place, because of god. But she is in truth just like the others that have taken on the role to get people to the other world.

Kana stops showing emotions and stops talking to people because whenever she gets a friend they vanish after some time. Leaving her in the world of no aging. She acts natural and uncaring but she is hurting. But you won't see much of her, she is seen as the bad guy in this show(Because she forces the people to go to school)

There isn't really any fanservice in this anime, neither is there that much romance. But that is what made it so good. You follow around a bunch of kids, that are afraid of the unknown and see them earning "money" for food and getting by. They even have a club where they're all against Kana, there is a lot of fun scenes in it. Trust me! I laughed my heart out sometimes in this anime.

But it might be all fun and games at the start. But it is truly dark! All the people in here are dead. None of them had a good life, there is a girl who loved to sing! She wrote her own songs when she was alive but had two parents that fought a lot and a drunkard of a dad. He ends up hitting her in the head with a bottle of beer. Sure that doesn't kill her on the spot but is the reason for her to die in the end.

This girl is the reason that Otanashi's eyes open. He notices that if the people make the goal in their living life, in this life... I don't know how to explain it.

Like the girl who wanted to sing always wanted to make a huge concert with lots of people. But because of the injury she ends up with a brain injures and can't move, speak or anything at all. Which in the end kills her. She then in the afterlife makes this HUGE concert for the NPC's where the teachers stop it. She then somehow fights to make the concert, making her last song called "MY SONG" Where it is played everywhere in the school. And that is where she finds out what she truly wanted to do with her life, and what she wants to do for people. She wants people to be saved by her music like she was when she heard her first song. And that is how she disappears.

This is what the anime is really about. It is about Otonashi taking on the role, to make everyone accept the life after death. But he, of course, has to fight for this. This is all his friends, and he doesn't even know what his own goal was in life. Since he can't remember anything at all. He instead does everything to make his friends get a life. Which is where you end up seeing all of the people's background stories.

My favorite would probably be Yui's disappearance. Which is really weird, since I really hated that girl. She was super annoying always fighting with Hinata the blue-haired boy. But when she had to disappear, he showed up and helped on. He talked about people who are unable to walk and has a disability isn't any reason for them to be alone. He then explains how they would've met if they were both still living. Which truly makes her heart shake. I won't tell you what her wish was. But his words were at some point what she truly wanted.

This is how Hinata ends up helping Otonashi with the other people.

I don't wanna get into too many details. But I cried a few times in this anime. And I even recommended it to some of my guy friends, to give them a little challenge. And both of them cried more than I did in this anime. Which surprised me. But it was nice knowing that I wouldn't be the only one sobbing while watching it.

I will give this a 9 out of 10. The soundtrack is fantastic!!! And the plot was really nice. But confused me once in a while. Also hated the ending.

Laughed while crying in the ending (I'm such a bad person) But it was good. I enjoyed it and hope you guys will too!
