5. Chapter Five: Kai

Short Chapter Ahead

I froze at the statement that was just said. Not only did they interrupt our moment but they have the nerve to just barge in and spout this nonsense. I take a quick look at Eun-mi, who seems to be utterly shocked by this news. It hurts for some reason to see her this terrified and shocked.

“You will not be taking her away.” I announce to them and they look at each other. It seemed like they were mentally laughing to themselves.

“Sir, we have to take her away. It’s our job.” They tell me and I tsk my tongue at them, seeing that they were in the right. I look at Eun-mi, who is now looking at me with mouth agape. I don’t know what came over me but I run to her and scoop her up in my arms. Slightly lifting her off the ground by her waist, I hug her tightly.

“Everything will be alright.” I say to her and she nods, fighting back tears. Then she does something that shocks me. She gently places her lips against my cheek while tears start gently falling from her eyes. I look at her with wide eyes and she smiles softly. What just happened?

I put her down, almost dropping her due to shock and she laughs slightly at my reaction. She then nods at me before walking over to the police. No don’t go yet.

“I’m ready.” She says and I hold back myself from screaming at her that she’s not ready for what they will put her through. They police and her start leaving and I rush over to her and grab her hand, pulling her back. I hug her once more and wished that I wouldn’t have to let her go.

“I don’t believe you killed him.” I whisper in her ear and she smiles brightly at me. She hugs me back quickly before rushing back over to the police.

“I’ll see you soon, Jongin.” She says, for the first time using my actual name, and leaves with the police. I collapse to my knees and stare at the departing police car. She isn’t going to die and isn’t permanently leaving me, so why am I so heartbroken by her short time away from me?

Why does my heart feel like it’s aching.
