Sylph Blood

On a full moon my family, friends, all my people has been either slaughtered or taken away by the humans. Since that night my life have been shifted too many times and I knew deep down that nothing will ever be the same. And on my death I swear to the gods and goddesses that I will take revenge and show my wrath to the sinful humans.

13. 13

At first it was hard to concentrate on the stretching that Aadya demonstrated for me to do. Lucky I was able to actually focus on the stretches and warm ups. I asked why there was dance classes along with learning how to wield a sword during warm up. Aadya said it was for us to learn how to be more swift and move our bodies better. Also that once we mastered both then we could easily win again the standard human techniques in fighting. If we had to face humans that is.

With holding my body in new positions there wasn't a doubt that I would be sore later on. Aadya let me start easy since I was just starting to put my body through this much pressure. When she stopped the warm up and went over to pick up a wooden sword I was glad.

This was my chance on learning how to defend myself without my essence. Learning how to fight so I could bring down my enemies. Though my anticipation fell short seeing the wooden sword instead of a real one. "Why are you giving me a wooden toy?" I asked her.

A frown pulled at her lips. Without a word her arm moved fast as lightening. The wood hit my upper arm hard and pain spread like a wild fire. Due to surprise more than pain I let out a cry. "This is not a toy Amilia. You don't know how to use a true sword yet and we need to start from the very beginning. Plus, this toy as you call it is still a weapon. Understand this now that anything could be used as a weapon." She replied.

I looked at her with awe. Her power and confidence was unmistakable. When she realized that I wasn't able to speak due to the shock and awe that I was feeling she put the wooden sword in my hand. It was heavier than I expected it to be. Aadya didn't pull her hand away but wrapped it around mine. She moved my fingers in a certain way and leaned in closer. "This is how you hold a sword."

Her breath whispered across my ear and I held back a shiver. It was hard not to lean into her body as she stood behind me. I was maleable in her hands and hoped to the gods and goddesses that she didn't think anything of it. "Follow my lead." Her voice was low just enough for me to hear it.

She showed me how to move slowly with the sword. Every moment that we touched it was hard to concentrate. Finally when she pulled back the fog in my mind cleared up. I looked over at her and blushed slightly at her smile. "Let me see you practice what I showed you."

Tearing my eyes away from her I looked ahead and scrambled to remember how to move. Lunging forward I heard her sigh heavily. "No, no, no. Not like that." She sounded disappointed. "Look what I do."

I watched as she picked up another wooden sword for herself. She started to do the basic movements that she already showed me. As her body moved I could clearly see the power in her movements and the control in which she mastered. Seeing her handle the wooden sword so well ignited a fire in my heart. This was no time to be entranced by her beauty and power.

No matter what I had to try my best and go beyond my limit to learn all of this. I have to become strong physically and capable in the different fighting techniques. This was the only thing left I could do so I had to take it by might. Taking a deep breath I cleared my mind and tried again. As I mimicked Aadya I felt a new sense of power lingering underneath my skin.

She didn't say anything as I went through the steps  which I was glad for. Soon enough I built up a sweat and my breath was coming out in pants. The hot sun baring down on us was no help at all but even then I didn't mind. I was a soldier now. This was no time for complaints.
