1. Shark Bay-Part One

~~~~
The forty meter long Great White Shark came back to Shoal's Reef. It was with its mate, the ten meter Grey Nurse; it stared at its three meter long female shark, as if protective its young from Mankind. By November 24, 2017, it was a month before Christmas Eve. It swirled around the deep waters near the old Lighthouse...and waited for the time to strike.
Peter Daniels kissed Maddie. "Wake up, sleepy head", she lovingly said. He hugged her as they made out in bed; he wondered whether they would be having a family. He glanced at the digital alarm clock that was on the creamy wall; he saw the early morning glow of the Shark Bay's sun's rays hit the cold glass. "I have to go to work. Tomorrow is the last day before the Christmas holidays", Maddie said. She grabbed her red nightgown with her small hands; she pondered on telling Peter she was pregnant. Then she added: "I'm having a girl", she said. Peter smiled. "Thank you for telling me. I love you". And she nodded. "I love you, too Peter". And, by six-thirty AM, both of them were up. And, by seven o'clock AM, both of them were showered...and were dressed in their spacious bedroom. Then Maddie grabbed her brown purse, and keys, and drove her new black van towards the Shark Bay High School. Peter, who was dressed, grabbed his black wallet. He then closed the front door...and drove his brown 1998 Ford car towards the busy Marina.
JFK International Airport, New York.
8:55 AM.
Horst van Deere arrived in the city that never sleeps. In Europe, he was a world renowned expert on sharks. He had spoken to the United Nations about the fact that all sharks were dangerous. When he was silenced on the subject because it didn't fit the criteria for more humanitarian causes, he left in anger. Then he got a phone call to go to Shark Bay to get rid of the forty meter Giant Great White Shark. He grabbed his brown luggage with both hands, and hailed a taxi to take him to Shark Bay, which was near Ellis Island. "Take me to the ferry first. I'll get there faster. I'll pay cash", he told the New York driver. "No worries", the driver said in a Bronx accent. And, as Horst relaxed, he knew that time was running out before the shark killed again.
Madeline Sheers was swimming in Shark Bay. She saw the ships and boats that were moored in the old marina; she smiled to herself, as she kicked her shapely legs towards the buoys in the middle of the ocean. The sign read: SHARK BAY BEACH-4 MILES TO THE RIGHT; the other signs which led to the military camps were rotten, and unreadable. She swam fast. Suddenly she sensed movement ahead of her. She then screamed as the huge, forty meter long Great White Shark opened its huge mouth; she didn't scream again, as the massive sharp teeth bit into her left thigh. Blood spilled into the deep, freezing, water. She saw the bright sun for the last, and final, time before her blue eyes closed. And she died knowing she saw the black, unfeeling eyes of imminent death that was in the form of the shark.
Maddie stared at Roberta Shaffer. "You're dropping English class?", she asked her. The sixteen year old girl nodded. "Yes, this town is dead", she answered her. "But your parents...". Roberta sighed. "My parents don't give a damn about me; my parents are losers. I want to go to New York, and score acting roles". She grinned at her; she knew how to push buttons. "You have to be lucky to be an actress; you have to be...good". Roberta, who was fifteen, had long, black hair, brown eyes, and tall. She wore a black Aerosmith T-shirt, black jeans, a brown belt, blue socks, and black shoes on her feet. On her right, middle, finger was a silver watch. "I just want you to do well, Roberta", Maddie said, sincerely. And, then, as she heard the ring on the bell, she knew class was over.
Peter Daniels got out of his car. He saw Mal Harding, the Assistant Shark Bay Harbourmaster, sigh. "There's been a death, Peter. It's Madeline Sheers, the daughter of Hal Sheers, the Republican candidate for Shark Bay. He, and his wife, Cheryl, have been told. They want the Great White Shark dead". Peter nodded. "I attempted to shoot the shark but I failed". He stared at him, as Carolyn Sheppard, the newly elected Mayor of Shark Bay, was with her supporters. "Peter! You must do something. I hired Horst van Deere after your failure". Peter shook his head. "Horst is a hot head. But he is Europe's premier shark expert. And you did what you must do, Carolyn; you know I didn't deliberately failed; I was too scared to shoot. I won't make a mistake again". He shook his head. By 11:00 AM, the sun faded away from the distant shore, as Peter decided to go on a mission to catch the shark with Horst van Deere, when he eventually arrived in town.
Hal Sheer, forty-seven, gazed out of the Iron Building. He smoked a cigarette. The terror he had felt over his sixteen year old daughter's death had hit him hard. Cheryl Sheer, forty-six, kissed her husband of twenty years; Hal turned around. Tears welled in his blue eyes. "Madeline's dead. She doesn't...couldn't...". He didn't have the words to speak; he resumed watching the glass windows. "Horst van Deere will kill the shark. Peter Daniels failed. He is a sailor. He's not a hunter", Cheryl stated. She had long, blonde hair, hazel eyes, and petite. Her black skirt covered her shapely thighs; her brown pantyhose stretched her legs. She walked in her brown socks, and black shoes on her feet. On her left hand was her diamond wedding ring. She glanced at her husband. "Let's greet Horst at the marina". And Hal nodded, and kissed his wife.
Charlie Quest, an amateur shark hunter, was twenty-two. He gazed at the vast ocean. He saw Marsha Norton smile at him. "Are you fishing for the Great White Shark?", she asked him. "It's huge. If I kill it, I'd be famous in Shark Bay; I'll be a legend", he answered her. She nodded. "Can I go with you?". Charlie smiled. "Yes", he said. And she grinned. Charlie stared at the marina. "I'll be on board The Last Hope ship. It's kind of big, you know". He kissed her; he then saw Manning Kane, his best friend. "Hello, Manning. Are you going into the deep water, today?", he asked him. "Yes, there's a late-night fishing expedition tonight. We're getting lobster, crab, and abalone", Manning answered. He smiled at him. "I'm taking Marsha out on the ship", Charlie said. "There's a large, forty meter Great White Shark on the loose; Peter Daniels didn't kill it", Manning said. Charlie nodded. "Peter is a sailor. He didn't know how to take care of the shark; I do!". Marsha nodded. "Peter knows what to do. He failed because the shark is smarter than he is". He smoked a cigarette. "Can I have one, too?", Marsha said. "Sure", Manning said. And he gave her one...and he saw Horst van Deere. "We have trouble", Charlie said. "How?", Marsha said. "It's the European shark hunter. He could make things difficult". And he was proved right.
Robert Anderson, Jr., nineteen, glanced at the timer. "The bomb has to go off sometime, Fred". He glanced at the shark cage that was under the freezing water. Fred Sheppard, III, eighteen, shook his head. "We have to see the shark sometime", Robert said. He glanced at his water goggles. He picked them up with his right hand. By three o'clock PM in the early afternoon, the sun's rays hovered above the Shark Bay town. Robert was sweating. He hadn't left school for nothing; he preferred to deal with the shark his way. He was in the silver shark cage. "Give me the shark spear?", Robert asked him. "Here it is", Fred answered him.
"Thank you", Robert said. And, seconds later, they were prepared to end the terror once and for all.
Maddie entered the café. She saw Doris Camp, the Maths teacher. "Early day, huh?", she asked her. "Yeah, I was thinking of going to New York for Christmas", she said. "That's good. I was thinking that everyone is planning their vacations knowing there's a shark problem", Maddie said. And she ordered a sandwich, and a regular coffee, and paid for it. Then she walked to a white coloured table, and sat down on a seat, to enjoy her morning tea. "A shark problem?", Doris said. "Yes, it's not killed". And Doris shivered, as she sipped her coffee.
Robert Anderson, Jr., heard the sound of the timer.
Suddenly the Great White Shark appeared. Its black coloured eyes was focused on the teenagers; its huge fin moved through the clear, blue, ocean near Shark Bay. It crashed into the new shark cage with its fins; it crashed violently until the bomb fell onto the deep water. "Damn!", he said. And, seconds later, the shark opened its huge mouth...and bit into his right hand. Blood spilled everywhere. Robert screamed in agony. Then he turned a deathly pale colour...and he stared at the ticking bomb. It ticked to zero. It blasted upward until both teenagers were dead, and the shark swam towards shore.
Patsy Franklin stood at the marina's brown bridge.
Suddenly she fell into the water because of the explosion. "Help me! Help me!", she yelled. She saw the female Grey Nurse shark. It opened its huge mouth. When she shouted, the shark bit into her right thigh with its sharp teeth. Blood spilled downward; blood fell down until it seeped into the ocean. The small, female shark, circled around its mother. And, seconds later, it knew that it had a hunger that was the beginning of terror that wouldn't end.
