Sherryn-

"Hey, bitch!" I hear someone call. I roll my eyes knowing who it is and keep walking.

"Hey, I'm talking to you!" I feel someone grab my arm. I snatch it out of her grasp and glare at her. She grins.

"Where do you think you're going?" Barbara asks me. I roll my eyes again.

"To class, dipshit." I look at her two idiot friends.

"Oh, I see. Because you can't fight, you brought your two stupid friends to fight for you. But actually, all three of you can't fight. So really this is just a waste of time for all of us." Barbara snorts.

"You can't talk your way out of this, Sherryn. I'm gonna kick your ass." I scoff.

"I'd like to see you try." She launches at me and grabs my hair. So typical. I dig my knee into her stomach.

"Uf!" She cries, and lets go of my hair. One of her minions punches me in the chin or really gives me a love tap. I grab the math book that was in my hand before the fight started and hit her upside the head. She drops to the floor. Then the other girl pushes me up against the lockers, causing me to hit the back of my head pretty hard. She punches me in the stomach and I put my head down and cover my head to block her hits. Finally, I get away from her and grab her head then bang it against the locker. Barbara is up again and she tries to kick me, but I grab her leg and give her this look.

"Haven't you ever heard that kicking is a coward move?" She scowls and I lift her leg up which causes her to fall. I must've hit the other two girls too hard because they're still on the floor. Barbara realizes they're all injured so she stands up.

"This isn't over, Sherryn." I throw my hands up.

"I'll be waiting for you." Barbara helps her friends up and they leave. I look at the clock that is hanging in the hall. Fuck, i'm ten minutes late, I think. I grab my bag and my book and sprint to class. I slowly open the door to my English classroom and peek in. My teacher is sitting at his desk and his head is deep in a book. They're reading. I walk in and close the door quietly and sneak to my desk behind Toby. He turns, rests his elbow on my desk and puts his chin in his hand, and grins at me. I roll my eyes and push his elbow off my desk.

"Turn around... And don't say anything smart." He just chuckles and turns back around.

At the end of the day, Toby starts to walk out, but we were stopped by one of the biggest sluts at our school, Melanie. She's been trying to sleep with Toby since the beginning of school year last year and he's turned her down ever since.

"Hey, Toby," She coos, twirling a strand of hair on her finger and sticking her chest out towards him. I scrunch my nose and look away. Toby sighs.

"Hi, Mel." She giggles.

"Are you busy tonight?" She asks, trying to sound so sweet.

"No, I'm not." She claps once.

"Good! You should come to my party that I'm throwing." He shakes his head.

"No thanks. I'm hanging out Sherryn tonight. Thanks for the offer, though." He grabs my arm and we begin to walk again. I turn and look at Melanie who looks pissed for being turned down again. I just shrug my shoulders at her.

"Why don't you just give her what she wants and then maybe she'll stop bothering you?" I ask him. He scoffs.

"I don't want to have sex with her. She probably has some kind of disease from all the guys she's slept with." I laugh.

"Hey, how'd that fight go?" He asks, arching an eyebrow.

Obviously, I'm okay. I told you Barbara can't fight. She even had her two minions to fight for her, too." We continue talking about the rest of our days.

"Do you wanna hang at my place?" I ask him. He nods, considering we always hang at my place. I haven't been to his house since I was eleven. His parents are drug addicts and alcoholics. He's embarrassed about it and practically banned me from going to his house.

We walk into my apartment and of course, Kyle is sitting in the living room with a box of pizza next to him. He looks at me and I quickly take my gaze off of him. I grab my phone from my back pocket and call my mom. It goes straight to her voicemail, as usual.

"Hey, Mom. Just wanted to let you know that I've made it home and I hope to see you before I go to bed. Love you." I hear Kyle snort and I roll my eyes. Toby makes two sandwiches for himself and for me and we walk to my room.

"Y'all better not fuck in there!" Kyle calls to us. I groan and slam my door shut.

"He says that to us every time," Toby says and plops onto my bed. I do the same and take a bite of my sandwich.

"I know. It's annoying. I'd just wish he would leave." We sit in silence besides the sound of our chewing.

"Have you heard anything from your dad?" Toby asks me. I stop chewing and look at him like he even needs to ask.

"I'll take that as a no." I nod and continue eating. For the rest of the evening, we work on our homework and messed around. It was 7:30 when Toby started to pack up.

"You have to go?" I whine. He chuckles as he picks up his bag from the floor.

"Yeah, I gotta make sure my parents didn't burn down the house, or dying of oxygen because the house is filled with smoke from their drugs." He rolls his eyes. I stick my bottom lip out.

"I'll miss you." He laughs this time.

"You'll see me tomorrow, goof." I shrug and stand up. He gives me a hug.

"Bye, potatoes," He says and kisses my forehead. I lay my head on his chest for a few seconds longer before finally letting him go.

"Bye, corndog." We let go of each other and I watch him walk out of my apartment door.

Twenty minutes later, and I'm lying on my bed, scrolling through social media, when I hear someone banging on my door.

"Sherryn, open this fucking door!" Fuck, it's Kyle! I turn my light off and hide in my closet.

"Sherryn, I know you're in there. Open this fucking door!" He bangs even louder. Why don't the neighbors next door ever hear him? I think. Then all of a sudden, I hear my door being slammed into my wall. Shit! I try to control my breathing as I can hear Kyle walking around in my room. I hear my things being thrown all over. Then I don't hear him walking. He must've left, I think. Then my closet door abruptly opens. Kyle is glaring down at me and I start to shake.

"You fucking hide from me and you know damn well I'm looking for you, and callin' your name?!" He shouts. He grabs me by the hair and pulls me out, causing me to shriek. He throws me against the wall and grabs my throat.

"You know, I hate how you act like a fucking spoiled brat. You think you're a saint, but you're not. You bring that boy here every day, probably fucking him."

"Let... go of... me..." I say, trying to speak. He punches me in the face.

"Don't speak to me like that. You will respect me while I'm here." I knee him in his testicles. He lets go of me, wheezing and falling to the ground.

"You are not my father, nor will you ever be,"I shout at him, and run towards the door. When I'm so close to it, I feel his arms wrap around my torso. I try kicking and squirming, but he has a strong grip. He throws me to the ground and then I feel his foot digging into my stomach. I curl over.

"You will respect me!"He continues kicking me and punching me. Finally, after what felt like forever, he quit hitting and flopped down on the couch. He picks up a vodka bottle from the coffee table and takes a swig.

"Get out of my sight before I go to round two with you." I sniff, and sprint towards my room, locking it. My whole body was aching. I hate him so much!
