The fall wasn't meant to happen. That part, at least, wasn't planned.
But now, Luke's stuck in a limbo between dream and nightmare and the bottle in his pocket seems to be able to say a lot more about the incident than he can.
However, when reality does begin to sink in in Luke's mind, it's all anyone can do to stop him from letting go of everything - Forever...That is, if people can begin to care...

2. Fall

The landing light was switched on, illuminating the spiky shards of glass and blood that spattered the stairs and hallway below. The boy on the floor remained motionless.

Upstairs, figures were moving about, woken by the series of crashes and thumps and one, last, earsplitting scream. Four boys' faces peered down between the banisters at the sight: blood was spattered over the tiled flooring and carpeted stairs in dribbled, messy splodges; bits of broken glass, dried flowers and smashed camera glittered over everything like funeral confetti. Still, the boy at the bottom of the stairs, coated in the mess, was by far the most horrific sight.

"Someone call an ambulance!" Whispered one of the pyjama-clad boys, far too loudly for the atmosphere, rebounding, with an echo off the surrounding walls.

"Leo! Oh my goodness! Leo!" choked another.

The boy named Leo took a very shaky step forwards. He was a confident boy, popular and handsome, but, now, his handsome features crumpled. "Where's my phone! Oh, quick! Get an ambulance! Why did Luke have to go and fall?" He grabbed his phone of the nearest boy and dialed emergency services. "Hello? We need an ambulance!"

"Which service do you require?"

"An ambulance! We just need an ambulance! Someone's fallen and they're not moving!"

"They're not moving at all?" Says the cool female voice at the other end "Where did they fall from?"

"The stairs! He fell from the stairs! It was- It was an accident!" Leo pleads into the phone, whilst his friends look on.

"Can you tell us your friend's name?"

"Luke. Luke Miller... Please hurry! It's awful!"

"Your address?"

"47 Beechwood road."

"And Luke's?"

"93 Cherry walk."

"Have you tried moving him?"

"No." Whispered Leo "We just heard a crash, came out of our room and- and found..." His voice, usually cocky and confident, cracks.

"Hold on." Says the hospital woman "We're on our way."
