Words Flow Like Waterfalls

Poems I have written over the years

2. Strangers

Don't talk to strangers

They may tell you about their son

How he fidgets in his seat

How second grade snuck up on them...

Or maybe how they felt that day

Gloomy like the grey skies

Strangers may tell you

About the time

When they were fifteen

And they kissed a boy

Who tasted like gummy bears

Chapped lips touching for a split second on a double dog date

Don't talk to strangers

He will smile

To distract you from his horns

And he will melt the ground beneath you

Don't talk to strangers

They will take your tenderness

And leave you hollow

As bird's bones

But you cannot fly

Only fall on the cold hard ground
