The Hidden Life of Rowena Foribe * NANOWRIMO 2017*

The life of a witch who had lived most of her life without knowing who or what she truly is. Upon walking into a classroom and getting a project she dives deep into her family history. Finding things that she didn't know and overhearing things that she shouldn't know about. Seeing things that she shouldn't. She is about to turn 15 years old and that is when the first sighs of a witch come out. She can choose to go with them and see where the journey will take her or she can be like her family and turn her back on the Goddess and magic and powers. Rowena is just a normal 14-year-old high school student. Slacking in a few classes but good on most of her classes. Rowena has a few friends but her best friend that she tells everything, Eva Flixnet, who is in most of her classes.

"Come on mom. I'm fine," I tell my mom as she messes with my hair for the 100th time. It was just becoming October 30th and my mom thought that I should go and see the school before I even think about going just yet. She fussed with my hair and made sure that everything was perfect. We had gone shopping and gotten a new dress so I could wear it to this open house school thing that I was being forced to go to. I didn't mind the magic part I did mind that this school was in the middle of the city and still hiding part of the school building.  My phone buzzed and I reached over. Eva had nicknamed me Harmione.

Harmione – Eva why did you change my name?

Eva – Because you are her!

Harmione – NO I am not!

Eva – You Are A Witch Larry!

Harmione – I am changing my name back. And I have to go Eva talk soon okay?

I sent the phone down before she finished typing and went back to my mom as she called me again. "Mom I am fine can we just-" I paused as a camera flashed in front of my eyes. "Mom what are you doing?" I asked as I waited for the flash to leave my sight.

"Getting a picture before you leave. Your classes start tomorrow and I don't want you to leave without getting the picture that you promised I would get with you," She said holding the camera in front of me again. I shield my eyes from the flash once more and laughed at her.

"Mom I am going to be late if you keep taking my picture!" I laughed and forced the camera down again.

"Alright fine but let me make you breakfast the way my mom did on the day I went to the school," She said and waved her hand.  My mom wrinkled her brow and closed her eyes as we walked into the kitchen. I saw that nothing was happing so I did it for her. I made the pots and pans move and asked her to open her eyes. The look she got when she did made my focused leave and everything dropped to the floor. "You were doing that for me, weren't you?" She asked disappointed. I nodded slowly disappointed in myself but I knew that she was trying to act like her mother when I used magic on my birthday.

"Come on I will take you to your new school now," She said disappointed that she couldn't do something as simple as cooking. I hugged her slightly and tried to make her feel better about not being able to do magic. WE walked out to the car and sat in quiet as we pulled out of the drive way to make it to the school for the tour. I guess they liked doing tours to show the newbies around before they started classes. It was a short drive because we lived somewhat close to the school building itself.

"I am going to be fine mom. You don't have to worry about me," I told her as she hugged me once more before I walked through the iron gates to the building itself. I smiled and waved behind me as I walked through them. Everything changed around me. The concert that I had seen around the school changed to the greenest grass that I had ever seen. Trees were everywhere in sight. The building that looked half there turned clean and all the windows fixed themselves. There were students rushing around and sitting in the shadow. This was not what I had been expecting when I had seen the place from the street.

"Um are you looking for the tours?" A girl older than me asked smiling. I nodded to afraid to speak. "Here let me show you there. I don't have to worry about my classes just yet. So, I am Wolfie Walton. What might your name be?" She asked walking with me to where the tours were going to be starting.
