I was alive...just.

By seven o'clock PM, the following night, Friday, November 3, 2017, I opened my black coffin. Cara opened her own coffin; Sara did the other coffin, too. We were eager to think that the humans would kill us. After I had my blood fix, I was now concerned that I'd be waiting for death to come my way. It almost did. We walked up the spidery, cobwebbed, stone steps; we opened the black doors with our cold hands. After we heard the sound of heavy footsteps, we saw Mark Anders, the Dark Vampire of Lake Michigan. He grinned at me. His face was scarred from a fight with the Great Vampire King; his red eyes was demonic. He glided towards me in a long, black coat. He walked in his black boots in the mud.

"Danielle Black, I've heard about you", he said. He smiled at me. I shivered in his presence. I hadn't dared draw a breath; I had drained the blood of a human being. And I felt low. Mark Anders smiled at me. He was wearing a grey hat on his head. He saw me staring at the scar on his left face. "The consequence of the fight between me and the Great Vampire King in his Court. I fled to Detroit. And I've stayed in touch with the other vampires there. I am in charge of the vampires there...not him". I focused on him. I listened. There were a lot of rivals for power in Michigan. Cara shivered. She hadn't met Mark Anders before, and neither did Sara. I spoke in a commanding voice, hoping that he'd listen to me.

"I drained a human girl's blood because I was hungry. I haven't got any energy left". Mark Anders nodded. "Feeding on humans is a powerful thing; feeding leads the feeder to sleep longer to replenish the lost energy. You must have another vampire to feed on his or her neck to be full of fresh blood that's free of disease. It's part and parcel of vampirism". I nodded. Sara smiled at me.

"You can feed on my blood", she said innocently.

"Okay", I said.

And she smiled.

I was full.

I let Sara and Cara take care of me. Mark Anders glided towards me.

"I don't have a bride-yet. Maybe you can be one". I shuddered at him. I wasn't used to other male vampires telling me that I was marriage material; I was the servant of the Great Vampire King and Vampire Queen. I'd be forced to tell them what was going on, in a legal sense. Also, I would have to go to Detroit where I would be the new Vampire Queen in that cities Court. I had power. I didn't know what to say. I had my friends in Michigan. I stared at the majestic looking Lake Huron.

"Do I have a choice?", I asked him.

"Yes, only one. Marry me, or die", Mark Anders answered.

And I agreed to marry him.
