The Arrangement

Cassie Morris is an aspiring actress, though she struggles to land a successful role. After another failed audition, the role of a lifetime falls into her life. Does she seize the opportunity, finally achieve her lifelong dream even if it goes against every moral she's ever held herself to? Can she handle being attached at the hip to someone she despises?

11. It's Official!

I was thankful to find that when I woke up the next morning, the apartment was quiet. Absolutely dead quiet; that meant that Nancy was already gone for work and I wouldn’t have to deal with her.

I lied there for a few moments, reflecting on last night and trying to decide whether or not I had dreamt it. Had I really gone out with Justin last night? And was he really that big of an asshole?

I groaned as I rolled out of bed, realizing that it was true. Yesterday, I was just a bartender who failed miserably at acting. Today, I’m Justin Bieber’s girlfriend. I realized I would have to tell Nancy soon; otherwise she would find out from social media. Stupid paparazzi.

I picked up my phone as I made my way to the bathroom to begin getting ready for the day, and noticed that I had an unanswered text.

Fredo: hey Cassie, head over to Justin’s when you can. we got some stuff to work through

I sighed as I typed out a quick response, telling him I would be there soon. Great, I thought to myself, I’ve been up 2 minutes and my day has already turned to shit.

I sighed contently as I looked up at the blue sky, watching the clouds move slowly across. I wasn’t sure how long I’d been out here in the pool, and I didn’t really care. I preferred being outside by myself anyway. All this crap with Cassie, and needing a “fake girlfriend” was bullshit. I was fine on my own.

As the Sun started to move higher in the sky, I decided to go back inside. It was getting too hot anyway. I climbed out of the pool, grabbing a pool towel off of the shelf against the wall and quickly dried off before walking inside.

I walked in the patio door to find Cassie sitting on the couch with Fredo and Scooter. They were laughing and talking together, and I noticed a small stack of papers on the coffee table, presumably the NDA. “What are you doing here?” I asked as I stared her down, not bothering to disguise the annoyance in my voice. I couldn’t even get away from her in my own home.

She glanced up and gave me a sweet smile. “Hey, babe. It’s official!” she said, wiggling the paperwork at me.

“Awesome,” I muttered as I walked past them and towards the kitchen for a bottle of water.

“Hey,” I heard Scooter call out to me. “Go get dressed. Karla’s gonna be here soon.” I groaned, grabbing a bottle out of the fridge and trudging slowly back to the living room. “ could just stay like that,” he said sarcastically as I sat down on the other end of the couch.

“Fuck you,” I muttered before taking a long drink from the bottled water. “I’m still mad at you about last night.”

“I thought it was pretty slick,” Cassie giggled. I shot her a death glare. “The whole… ‘Hey, Fredo’s already there. I’ll meet you guys there in a minute’ bit. It was pretty good,” she laughed, looking at Scooter.

He gave her a cocky smile. “Thanks,” he said with a shrug.

“Oh my god,” I muttered, standing back up off the couch. I couldn’t handle being around them; if it weren’t so hot, I would just go back outside to the pool. I heard Cassie giggle again as I stomped up the stairs. I sulked all the way up to my room, slamming the door behind me before walking up to my closet to find a change of clothes.

I just didn’t understand why this whole thing was necessary. I didn’t need a “good girl” to get myself together. I was fine; there was nothing wrong with me or my career. Who gives a shit if I’ve gotten into a little trouble lately? I’m 22, almost 23, what other guy my age hasn’t gotten in trouble?

Not to mention I didn’t want a girlfriend. A real one or a fake one. I was fine on my own; I could fuck whoever I wanted to fuck, and do whatever I wanted to do. They just hired Cassie to control me. And that’s bullshit.

“Justin?” I heard Cassie call out from the bedroom as I pulled my shirt on. What the fuck does she want now? I walked back into the bedroom, almost saying what was on my mind, but stopped short when I noticed Karla standing in the doorway behind her, an excited smile on her face.

“What’s up babe?” I asked with a smile, putting my arm around her waist and pulling her close to me.

Her arm snaked around my back as she looked up at me with her large green eyes. “So...Karla wants to take me shopping,” she explained, but something about her expression looked like a child caught with their hand in a cookie jar. “And I was...I was wondering if I could use your credit card?” She smiled up at me, batting her lashes quickly.

Fucking bitch. I forced a laugh as I smiled down at her. “Sure, babe,” I said, making my way over to the nightstand where my wallet was. I pulled out the platinum card and handed it to her.

“Thank you so much,” she gushed, reaching up on her tiptoes to kiss me on the cheek.

I quickly pulled her against me, and turned my head so I gave her a quick peck on the lips. “Any time, Cas,” I chuckled as she stared up at me with wide eyes. I gave her another peck on her forehead, then smacked her on the ass as she turned to walk away. “Go have fun.”

“Thank you, Justin,” Karla said with a laugh, as she and Cassie left. I groaned, running my hand through my hair. Knowing Karla, she would max out the card in no time. I don’t even like the bitch, and I’m buying her a brand new wardrobe.

“Scooter!” I called out as I came out of my room and down the stairs. There was no sign of Cassie and Karla, so they must have already left.

“What's up?” he asked nonchalantly from the couch.

“Why the fuck did I just give her my card?” I growled. Was all this really necessary?

“Cause that's your girlfriend,” he laughed. “And you're supposed to buy her stuff. That's your job as the boyfriend.” He shot me a wink.

“I don't have to buy her anything, it's all bullshit,” I argued. “Why does she have to have brand new shit anyway?” I sat down on the couch in a huff, my arms crossed tightly across my chest.

“Cause she's with you now,” he said in a suddenly serious tone. “She's gonna be around, all the time. Your interviews. Your shows. Your tour, that's coming up by the way,” he reminded me sharply. “Any public appearance you make...she will be there. Do you want her to show up in a pair of Chuck's and some jeans?” he asked rhetorically. I just scoffed. “That's what I thought. Since you can't clean up your act by yourself, we're gonna have to help you out.” He paused for a moment. “ you think you can chill out for a minute, so we can go over your schedule for the week? Cause Cassie is already up to date, and you're not.”

I took a deep breath as I tried to reel back my anger a little bit. He was right. But I wasn't gonna tell him that. “Fine,” I muttered.

“Alright,” he said with a smile. “Now put all this stuff in your phone, I'm not gonna remind you again.” He pulled out his own phone, then pulled up his calendar. “Okay. Now tonight, we've got dinner.” He smirked once he saw my glare, but I continued to type in the events in my phone. “For real this time,” he chuckled. “Purpose Tour is coming up soon, so we're going out with the whole crew tonight to get together. Tomorrow, you've got an interview at 9 down at the radio station, then another Calvin Klein shoot at 4. Thursday, you don't really have anything going on, so I want you to take Cassie out. Go to the mall, take her to the movies, go get ice cream...I don't really care what you do, just do something public. Friday, you're in the studio all day. And Saturday, you've got that party. That's all on you though, I'm not planning it,” he laughed. “That sound good?”

I ran my fingers through my hair. That sounds busy, my head muttered in response. “Yeah, that's fine,” I told him. “Sounds great.”
