Good things come to those who wait.
This too shall pass
No baby can ever replace another, every single baby is unique and precious, some are born and others aren't, any child that is born following a child that died isn't a replacement, they are just a longed for sibling and a gift to their family

7. Little Girl

Lana’s POV

The days counting to March fly by. I’m either in the nursery prepping for the baby, buying baby stuff or taking care of Dr. Weaver and inviting her family of nine into our huge mansion. In October, it was the moment of truth.

The day starts out almost perfect. Fred and I pick up Sigourney at her house to take her to her appointment at Dr. Elliot’s. Dr. Elliot was happy with how far along the pregnancy was.

“I bet you two are excited. How are you Dr. Weaver? Are you making it?”

“Yes, this pregnancy has been a breeze. I bet they’re wondering what I’m carrying.”

“Yes, we would love to know if it’s a boy or girl? I hope it’s a girl. We’ve always wanted a girl.”

“After a few tests?”

Dr. Elliot checks the heart beat and the baby’s vitals before turning on the machine. She moves around the wand and proudly declares.

“It’s a girl.”

I kiss Fred and then kiss Dr. Weaver’s forehead.

“Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

Then Dr. Elliot says something. I just stare at her.

“Her heart beat is a little off. Maybe it was just a fluke but on the ultrasound she didn’t seem to be moving around too well and her oxygen levels were too low for comfort.”

“What can we do?”

“Wait, come in next week and after that there is the option of removing the baby from Dr. Weaver and placing your daughter into an artificial womb.”

I then respond with this…

“Hopefully it doesn’t amount to that.”
