Good things come to those who wait.
This too shall pass
No baby can ever replace another, every single baby is unique and precious, some are born and others aren't, any child that is born following a child that died isn't a replacement, they are just a longed for sibling and a gift to their family

10. Adoption

Fred’s POV

Today we got a call that we’ve been put on the waiting list. It’s been a while since we applied considering its June. Lana and I went out to celebrate. Mr. Montgomery wants to meet with us again so we’re going tomorrow.

Today we’re back at Little Angel’s Adoption Agency and Mr. Montgomery has some good news.

“It’s been only a few months but your case was so inspiring and tragic that you’re leaving to meet your adoptee in September. Her name is Asa Marie, she’s four weeks old and lives in England. She’s located at The Queen’s Royal Orphanage. Duchess Kate has taken a liking to Asa so has promised to show you around. You’ll be staying in the Regina Hotel. The agency is going to be paying for your trip.”

“What happened to her parents and can we see a picture?”

“Her parents died in the terrorists’ attack in London when she was two days old.”

Mr. Montgomery pulls out a picture of a baby girl with brown eyes and brown hair. She seems to have Lana’s nose and Lana’s complexion and my ears. As soon as Lana sees the picture she turns to me and nods.

“We can’t have children because, this little girl is our daughter. “

“Lana she looks like you. How is that possible?”

“We’ve run a DNA and she has no match but she does look like you.”

“Look Fred she’s perfect.”

“It’s a closed adoption so…”

“We probably won’t ever tell her she’s adopted because she’s so young. We get to meet her when she’s three months old.”

“Asa Marie Diblasio…papers?”

Mr. Montgomery hands Lana and I both a stack of papers. Ten minutes later we sign the last sheet and sit back. In two months, we would meet Duchess Kate and pick up our daughter. According to the United States of America and the United Kingdome, Asa is legally our daughter. I turn to Lana as we leave and kiss her.

“We’re having a baby. We’re having a baby.”

“Like people have said Lana. Good things come to those who wait.”
