Dear Jesse,

Why did you have to go? I don't understand. Your brother needs you. Your father needs you. I need you.

I miss you.

2. Dear Jesse 0.2

Dear Jesse,

Your father has been drinking a lot lately. I know it has a lot to do with your death, but he says it's work stress. All your friends stop by every once and a while. I know they're missing you too. I just don't understand what caused you to do it. I know Clarissa wouldn't have wanted you to do it. It's just very difficult for me and everyone else.

I was going through some pictures of you when you were little and I came across one where you lost your first tooth. You were so excited and the look on your face is priceless. I laughed at it and laughed at it some more. I remember that day like it was yesterday. When your father did the old version of pulling your tooth out and he tied a long string of yarn to it and tied the other end to a door. One minute you were crying, telling him not to do it and that it was going to hurt. And then you were bouncing around because you were excited to put it under your pillow and wait for the tooth fairy to come and leave money. And then he did it, and at first, you were shocked and then you started running around the house yelling and hollering. That day was one of the best moments to experience.

And then I started to cry because I wanted you to experience that with your children when you grow up. I wanted you to feel how happy it is to see your child get so excited over a tooth. But now you won't.

I should probably get going. I gotta take your little brother to baseball practice.

Love you,

      Your Mother
