The Vanisher

Back a few years ago, one of the world's most mysterious crimes ever committed left everyone stooped.
To this day, the goal and the criminal are still a mystery.
But, what people don't know what that the crime wasn't meant to be a crime in the first place.
The Vanisher, after many years, has returned with a mission, one that could change the world forever.

20. Work

"Ragan!" Director Jones yells into my earpiece.

"I'm working on it, I'm working on it!" I yell back.

Man, these comm systems can get really annoying.

I am currently trying to break into Campbell's house, which is probably serving as his lair, as Director Jones puts it.

'There's no place like Home.' I remember he so smugly said.

Wow, Director Jones.

Really thought that one out, huh?

Anyway, let's just say picking a lock isn't as easy as TV shows and movies make it seem.

Or as easy as Agent Smith said it would be.

The liar.

Finally, the lock clicks and the door slowly opens.

"I'm in." I say.

"Good.  Tell us if you find anything.  We'll let you know if we see anything."

"Copy that." I sneak in, and, using the handy-dandy ability my wolf eyes give me to see in the dark, I easily maneuver around any obstacles in my way.

I search around, looking for clues to help us figure out what exactly he's up to.

I finger through mail, papers, search through his desk.

I hack into his computer using the handy-dandy hacker chip the tech guy from MCU gave me, and nothing.

I'm about to leave when something catches my eye.

A book sitting on his bookshelf.

His scent is very strong on it, and it's very worn at the spine, unlike the rest of the books.

I pull it off the shelf and finger through it, and I find something.

A picture of the gem I currently have in my chest.

A list of addresses and names.

And a scribbled note.

"I think I have something." I say into the comm.

"Good.  Bring it in."

"Copy that.  Over."
