The Little Blue Book

5. Green as Grass

Green is a maple tree in the summertime,
lucky as a four-leaf clover,
stubby bush in the way of winter’s frosty breath,

Green is a garden growing in the beams of the spring sunshine,

tastes like bittersweet Granny Smith apples,

smells like an Autumn Pine tree basking in the radiant sun,

sounds like the summer’s leaves dancing with the wind,

Green feels like the soft, cool summertime grass,

looks like a vast sea of grass waving in the wind,

makes me yearn for the trees regaining their leaves in the beams of spring,

Green is a sign of the world proclaiming you’ll be safe and out of any harm.
