3. Ther morning mishap

Skylar-

I wake up in the movie theater, with my head on Zach shoulder. I lift my head slowly, trying not to wake him up. I get up off the chair, but Zack grabs my hand. I look back at him, heat rushing into my face.

“Stay.” Zach says. I slowly move back and sit down on the chair. I start to remove my hand, but Zach squeezes it. I look at him and he looks back at me. Zach leans towards me and I know we are going to kiss. His lips slowly caress mine. This kiss definitely feels more confident. The kiss on the Ferris Wheel was rushed and unsure. This one feels right.

“Hey gu-” Corbyn starts. I pull away from Zach and look towards the entrance. Corbyn was staring at us. I was really embarrassed and I bet he could tell. I peek at Zach and see his cheeks are also red. Corbyn stares at us a little longer then just turns around. He leaves the room.

“I think I’m going to go check on everyone else…” I say, still embarrassed. Zach nods, understanding why I’m leaving. I get up out of the chair and head towards the door. Before I leave, I look back at Zach. I wave at him and smile. He smiles back.

I walk up the stairs to check on Natalie and Kyli. Corbyn said he saw Jack go up the stairs, but never come back down.

“Oh great.” I think in my head. I check on Kyli first. She wasn’t up yet and I didn’t want to bother her, so I left her alone. I walk back down the hallway to Natalie’s room. I push the door open a little and stick my head threw it. I see Natalie’s head and it’s really close to Jack's. They could kiss if one of them moved. Natalie wouldn’t like that so I walk into the room. I go to Natalie’s side of the bed and shake her gently.

as    “Natalie! Wake up!” I whisper scream. She open on eye, still facing Jack. Once she realizes she’s that close to him, she quickly moves away.

“Why is he in your bed?!” I whisper to her.

“He didn’t like the couch.” Natalie whispers back.

“SO YOU LET HIM SLEEP IN YOUR BED?!” I whisper scream at her.

“I told him no, but he looked sad.” Natalie explains to me.

“You’re supposed to be mad at him, remember?” I say. I don’t care that I’m not whispering anymore.

“I still am mad, but just a little.” Natalie tells me. I sigh and start walking towards the door. Natalie gets out of the bed and follows me. We both go downstairs and walk into the kitchen. I see a guy going threw all of our cabinets. He was wearing all black and had a hat on over his head. I just stand there, not knowing what to do.

“Who are you?” I manage to say. There was a spoon on the counter and I grabbed it. The guys turns around and looks surprised to see us. I am surprised too. I thought Jonah was a robber. I have no words to say to Jonah.

“Why were you going through our cabinets?” Natalie finally asks him.

“I was looking for a spoon.” Jonah replies.

“You could have just used this one,” I say holding up the spoon in my hand. “Or you could’ve asked us to get you one.”

“Next time I will ask you where they are at.” Jonah say, walking past me and Natalie. I watch him walk into the living room and start talking to Daniel.

“Why doesn’t he need the spoon now?” I say. I didn’t realize I said it out loud until I noticed Natalie looking at me, confused.

“You make a good point. He never actually got a spoon.” Natalie replies. We don’t suspect anything suspicious is going on, so we forget about it. Then I noticed something on the stove.

“Did you put that there?” I ask Natalie. She follows my gaze to the pan and shook her head no.

“That was there when we walked in. Jonah was probably cooking something.” Natalie replies. I walk over to the pan and peer into it.

“He was making...scrambled eggs.” I say. I would never have expected Jonah to cook scrambled eggs.

“Hey! Don’t touch the scrambled eggs!” Jonah exclaims, walking back into the kitchen.

“I didn’t touch them. They are exactly the way you left them.” I tell him. I walk to the cabinets and pull out the waffle mix. I was about to say something when I saw Jonah talking to Natalie. They were whispering to each other and it was awkward for me. I just start making the waffles to go with the eggs. Their voices raise a little, but I try not to listen.

“Where’s Jack?” I hear Jonah ask Natalie. They talk more and finally Jonah heads for the door.

“I’m sorry.” He says before walking out of the kitchen. I hear a door slam and I think it’s the front door.

“He left the eggs.” I say, trying to make a joke. Natalie doesn’t laugh which means their argument must have been bad. I just focus on the waffles and the eggs. I finish cooking the waffles and the eggs. I called everyone into the dining room and gave them the food. I think everyone knew that something happened to make Jonah that mad.

We ate silently, the scraps of the forks on the plates the only sound. We decided that it was best that the boys went home. They could talk to Jonah if they wanted to. Although, Jack might want to stay a safe distance from him. As they left, Zach pulled me aside.

“I was wondering if you would like to join me for dinner?” Zach asks me. I smile at him.

“That would be wonderful.” I tell him. He says bye and leaves our house. I close the door behind him and turn around.

“You can borrow my black dress.” Natalie tells me. I smile at her, but my smile falters when I remember her fight with Jonah.

“Why did Jonah storm out of the house?” I ask Natalie. I’ve been dying to know why he left.

“I told him Jack slept in my bed instead of on the couch.” Natalie simply says. I think about what she just said.

“Jonah is probably heartbroken. He really liked you.” I tell her. Natalie just shrugs her shoulders.

“I didn’t like him.”

“Then who do you like?” Kyli asks, walking out of the kitchen. Natalie is silent for a few moments and that gives me the answer.

“You like Jack!” I exclaim. Natalie blushes and I know that's the correct answer.

“I thought you didn’t like him?” Kylie says, clearly confused.

“He slept in her bed last night.” I say. Kyli looks from Natalie to me then back to Natalie.

“That's just weird.” Kylie says. I laugh and pretty soon we are all dying of laughter.

“We need to get you ready for your date!” Natalie exclaims. I agree with her. My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pull it out. It’s a text from Zach.

“Zach will be here at 4:00!” I exclaim. “That only gives us one hour!” We race up the stairs and get to work. Natalie and Kyli help me a lot on deciding what to wear. Natalie does my makeup while Kyli does my hair.

I already have Natalie’s black dress on. The dress was not that fancy, but it was going to have to do.

I was putting on the final touches to my outfit, when I heard music outside the door. I look at Kyli and Natalie confused. We walk down the stairs and I head for the door. I open it up and see the Why Don’t We boys standing there. Zach is wearing black pants, a white shirt, and a jean jacket.

They start singing “Taking You.” I noticed Jack was staring at Natalie while he was singing. Natalie lightly pushed me towards Zach and laughed.

“Go have fun!” Natalie exclaims. I wrap my arm around Zach’s and we walk down the sidewalk. Zach called an Uber and we leave the house.

Natalie-

“You guys can come in.” I say, opening the door wider. They walk in and I close the door behind them.

“You know what we never did?” Kyli asks.

“What didn’t you do?” Daniel asks.

“Give you a house tour!” Kylie exclaims. She has a point. We never did give them a house tour. It would be fun too.

“This is the living room.” I say, being funny. We show them around the house. We are about to go upstairs when there is a knock on the door. I’m a little confused because I shouldn’t have a visitor. I go to the door and open it. I can’t believe who it is.

“What are you doing here?” I ask my ex boyfriend, Ethan Dolan.

“Who is that?” Daniel asks. Before anybody can answer, Kyli  runs to the door and slams it in Ethan’s face.

“Who wants a drink?” Kyli  asks. We all head to the kitchen to grabs drinks. Drinking right now might not be the best idea, but who cares. Skylars not here to stop us!

We threw a little party for ourselves. It was actually pretty fun. We danced like we were crazy. We also sang the songs playing, but we were horrible. Drinking and singing is not a good idea. A lot of the time we just laughed and danced.

“Guys? What time is it?” I ask. I am sitting on a chair in the dinning room, trying not to throw up. Kyli is asleep on the couch and Daniel is asleep on the floor. Jack is sitting next to me and pulls out his phone. All the lights are way too bright and every sound is amplified.

“It’s 8:30.” Jack replies. I sigh. Every muscle in my body aches.

“I don’t know about you, but I’m going to bed.” I say. I stand up and walk towards the stairs. I slowly walk up the stairs, focusing on putting one foot in front of the other. I finally get up all the stairs and walk to my room. I open the door and just walk in. I don’t bother to close it. All I want to do is just lay down on my bed. I hadn’t realized that Jack and Jonah had followed me up the stairs.

I see them both walk into my room. I move over into the middle of the bed. They both lay down on either side of me. It would have been weird if I wasn’t a little crazy. I was to tired to care about anything. I closed my eyes and fall fast asleep.

Skylar-

Zach takes me home around 10:30 P.M. I had an amazing time and I think he did too. The Uber drops us off and Zach walks me up to the door.

“I had a wonderful time.” I tell Zach before I go inside.

“Me too.” Zach replies. He kisses my cheek and opens the door for me. He is such a gentleman. I say goodbye to Zach and watch him walk

over to his house. I close the door once he crosses the street. I turn around and see the house is a mess. There are bottles on the table. I sigh. There is a knock on the door and I turn around. I open the door, but nobody is there. I walk outside more and look around.

I don’t like the feeling I have. I am just about to go back inside when someone claps their hand over my mouth. They put their other hand over my stomach and carry me. I struggle to get out of their grasp, but it doesn’t do anything. He grasp is just too strong. I watch as the front door, left wide open, gets farther away. I get thrown into the back of a trunk and left alone in the dark.

I am scared. I’ve never been this scared in my life. I bang on the trunk, but it probably won’t do anything. I hear something going on outside. It sounds like...I’m not sure. I’m not sure what to do.

“HELP!” I scream. I’m sure it’s muffled by the trunk, but I scream anyways. I hear something that sounds like a body hitting the floor. The trunk opens up and I see Zach staring at me. I am surprised and happy all at the same time. I climb out of the trunk quickly. I hug Zach as tightly as I can. I don’t ever want to let him go. He helps me calm down and walks me inside. We called the police and they arrested Zach’s ex girlfriend, who was the one who tried to kidnap me.

Zach stayed at my house that night. I asked him to stay up with me until I fell asleep. I eventually did fall asleep, but it took me a while.

I am woken up by someone gently shaking me.

“Rise’n shine!” Zach exclaims. I smile at his comment.

“Good morning.” I reply. I follow Zach downstairs and into the dining room. I see my phone sitting on the table and I pick it up. I see that I am tagged in tons of photo’s on Instagram. I open up one picture and it’s of me and Zach walking down the sidewalk, holding hands. I show the picture to Zach ands he’s just confused as I am. I look up “Skylar and Zach” online and tons of articles pop up.

“Oh no…” I whisper. I clicked on an article that had that picture on it.

What?” Zach asks me.

“We got paparazzied!” I exclaim. I hated being on T.V and 1like that. I sigh.

“Why did this happen? Ugh!” I exclaim. I cover my face with my hands.

“It’s not that bad.” Natalie says. she takes my phone and scrolls through the article.

“Ok, it's bad.” Natalie says. She hands me my phone back, but I just set down on the table. Zach takes me to another room. I don’t know what he is going to say, but I’m ready for it.

“Roses are red, daisies are yellow, would you like to date this little fellow?” Zach asks me. He looks into my eyes and it makes my heart melt.

“Definitely!” I exclaim. I hug Zach and smile at him. He smiles back. He truly does look happy. Happier than before, at least. When we are walking back to the kitchen, Jack and Jonah are walking down the stairs.

“Where did you sleep at upstairs?” I ask them. Natalie walks into the living room and heard me ask the questions.

“They slept in my bed. We were too drunk to function.” She replies.

“I can see you were drunk. Now, you should be the one’s to pick up the bottles, not me or Zach.” I say. Natalie agrees that they should pick up the bottles. She begins to pick up the bottles, when Jonah comes up to her and twirls her around. She looks really surprised and stunned.

“Why did you do that?” she asks. Jonah starts singing “All My Love” and things get weird. After he gets done singing the song, he asks Natalie on a date.

“Uhhhhh...I guess.” Natalie says. I’m surprised she even said yes.

“You guys should go back to your house and help Jonah get ready.” I say. To be honest, I wish they would go home, except Zach. From what I just experienced with Jonah, I would say he is still drunk, but I know he’s not. I say bye to everyone as they head out the door. I close the door and my smile falters.

really bad. Jonah takes my hand and leads me out the door. I want to pull my hand away, but I also want to keep it there. I am having way too many emotions right. He asks me where I want to go and I said let's go on a walk and talk about ourselves.  I learned that Jonah has a sister and a brother.  He is 19 and he loves trying new food. I told him I'm 18 and I have a sister and 2 older step brothers and I also love food. We talked for a long time and then we went to Chipotle to eat.

When we were walking home I got a text from Kyli saying stay out a little bit longer because Landen was in town. They hadn’t seen each other in forever. Jonah and I went to his house and I stayed the night there. We cuddled all night.

I woke up the next morning, in Jonah’s bed. I still remember all the things we talked about while we sat here. I don’t ever remember falling asleep, but apparently we did. I look at Jonah, still sleeping next to me. I don’t get how I never saw how cute he was.

“I can’t believe myself. I’m falling for two boys in the same band!” I exclaim in my head. I slowly get out of the bed, so I don’t wake up Jonah. I walk out of the bedroom and into a dim hallway. He gave me a tour of the house last night, but I wasn’t really paying attention. I know the kitchen is downstairs from using common sense. Every main kitchen is downstairs. Some houses have kitchens in the basement, or upstairs, but I don’t see the point of that. Unless you are renting out our basement, which is silly.

I wander around downstairs, trying to find the bathroom. I should have paid more attention to where the bathrooms are. I am mentally mapping out the house as I go along. There are so many twists and turns it’s like I’m in a maze.

I start humming “These girls” which is Why Don’t Wwe's newest song. It’s not necessarily my favorite song, but it's catchy. It’s one of those songs that get stuck in your head all day. I have a tendency to just start singing the song softly when I start humming and that's what happened.

I”m just a girl that’s walking around a house, trying to find a bathroom, while singing softly.” I think. Wow. I’m becoming one of those people that start talking in their head and then they start talk out loud. I’m going insane trying to find the bathroom! I just finished singing the song, when Jonah says behind me, “You like our new song then?”

I turn around surprised. I didn’t even know he was following me.

“Yeah. It’s catchy.” I say, my cheeks burning from embarrassment. Jonah smiles.

“What were you looking for?” Jonah asks me, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

“Huh?” I ask, confused at first.
“You seemed to be looking for something. I don’t know what, so I can’t help you.” Jonah says. He seems to be enjoying talking to me in my state of embarrassment.

“Oh, yeah. I was looking for the bathroom.” I say meekly. Jonah smiles even bigger.

“Well, you must not have been paying attention very well.” He says laughing. “Follow me.” I look down, ashamed of myself. I follow Jonah back the way I just came from. At the very end of the hallway, to my right is the bathroom. I am so embarrassed, for the millionth time, that I quickly enter the bathroom, slam the door closed, and lock it. I calm down a little bit once I don’t see Jonah anymore.

“I’ll be in the kitchen.” Jonah calls from the other side of the door.

“Ok.” I call back. I look at myself in the mirror. My dishwater blonde hair is in waves from my rosette hair style last night. I take a deep breath. I focus on my eyes. The way they look and how they move. The more I stare into those light brown orbs, the more relaxed I get. My cheeks are still flushed with embarrassment, but I leave the bathroom anyways. I immediately find the kitchen from the smell of pancakes. I love pancakes.

“I’m back.” I say, with a little bit of laugh. Jonah turns around and smiles at me.

And I didn’t get lost.” I say with a little bit of a laugh. My laugh is fake and generic sounding. Jonah must have noticed it.

“I was only teasing earlier.” He says, looking at me. His soft blue eyes tear at my heart, so I look down. He starts walking over to me and I try to hide my face. He gently grabs my chins and lifts it up, forcing me to look at him.

“I really was only teasing. I’m sorry if I hurt you.” Jonah says. I want to tell him that he didn’t hurt me, but before I could his lips touch mine. It was a soft kiss, but it was magical. I didn’t want it to end, but it did. That cheered me up and that was nice. I sniff the air and I smell something, something burnt.

“Something’s burning.” I say. We both look at the pancakes sitting on the pan as one catches on fire. I scream half laugh as we frantically try to put it out. I never knew trying to stop a fire would be so fun. Maybe it was because Jonah was basically laughing the whole time.

We eventually put it out, but in a fit of laughter. Why are we laughing? Nobody will know. I honestly don’t know why we are laughing. We are both just sitting on the floor, laughing our butts off. I stop laughing, eventually, and lean up against a cabinet.

“Why are we laughing?” I ask, holding my stomach.

“Because we are having fun!” Jonah exclaims. I didn’t realize we were close to each other until he faces me, our noses almost touching. We stare into each other's eyes. I don’t see anything around me except Jonah, but that’s all going to change.
