Perfection is he condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects.
"We were born to be real, not to be perfect."
"Perfection is swallow, unreal and fatally uninteresting."
Ever since Zelena's sister and father died her mother Cora strove to create Zelena a perfect life. Whenever Zelena fussed about not wanting a perfect life, Cora would reply "My life wasn't perfect and now all I have is you..."
Zelena's happy with how her life has turned out so far...she was Merlin's heir, she was the top witch in the Wizarding World, she was the first cohort in the first order of Merlin...she really didn't want a perfect life...she wanted a happy life....

9. Perfection Broken.

I wake up and feel my daughter kicking hard. Soon she would be born. I’m five months pregnant and can’t wait for her. After a month of ruling England, it was hard. It was boring and it wasn’t perfect. I don’t want it anymore. I want to run away and be free. The only way to break free of my perfection was to break free of my past. Each day I would go into the throne room and wait…endlessly wait. Wizards and witches would come from all over England to see me and ask me their endless boring questions. I’m eighteen I’m an adult and now I’m stuck. I change into clothes and go to find Merlin.

“Master Merlin…I summon thee.”

Merlin appears in his starry robes and kneels.

“Yes, Madame Zelena.”

“Merlin did you know that this was going to happen? Did you know eventually I would shatter my perfect life and realize this isn’t so perfect. Realize it’s not what I want. Realize I want to go to America and find Hades and rush away and raise my daughter away from this life. I want to start over.”

“Do you want to leave your mother?”

“I love my mother…I love my twin sister and father. But Regina and Daddy are dead. Cora is…she’s just going to be collateral damage. I know I’m 18 and sound immature but I’m going to be a mother soon. I’m being forced to grow up too fast. My magic is too powerful. I want a new life.”

“I knew this was going to happen. Come on child…follow me.”

I follow Merlin into this locked room. He opens a portal and takes my hand.

“What’s her name?”

“I’m naming her Emma. Emma Grace.”

“Well Emma Grace is going to have a wonderful life. Don’t worry dear no one in England is going to remember who you are. Your new life will be quite new. How do you feel about being a little bit older…a little less green and an Ilvermorny graduate. How about having your sister and your father and mother in a new world.”

“You can do that?”

“No Zelena…you did it yourself. That’s how powerful you are. This life you’re living right now…it’s an illusion. You’ll find out soon enough.”

I step through the portal and my body is woken up. I open my eyes and see a white room. My wand is in my hand. My mother, father and sister Regina all smile as they see me start to move around. I look down and am no longer pregnant. Hades stands in the corner holding a baby girl who looks just like me. He’s wearing a Firebird shirt. So is the rest of my family. My hair is shorter and my heart doesn’t feel so empty.

A cracking noise is heard as I start to wake up. When I fully open my eyes and I hear glass shatter.

“What’s going on?”

“Sis you’ve been overworking yourself. The doctors have gotten into your brain. It seems you’ve created a whole new life. We’ve been watching these last few weeks. You know damn good and well you’re not 18 anymore. You’re 30 and the president of the wizarding community in America. You’ve never been to Britain in your life.”

“Zelena why didn’t you tell me you were having such a hard time with our marriage and our baby?”

“Zelena, in your fantasy world it was me forcing you to be perfect. You’ve been trying to achieve perfection since Regina was named valedictorian.”

As my family kept talking I smile because I feel a sense of peace. It wasn’t necessarily a dream it was more like my brain was so overworked that I created the perfect life. Towards the end of my delusion I learn that perfection isn’t needed to be happy. My entire fake life I was trying to obtain perfection but at the same time not wanting it. Hades brings me Emma and I play with her curls. She’s a bouncy little baby and holding her I remember.

“Hades why can’t you be perfect?”

Zelena runs into Emma’s room and lifts her squealing newborn. Emma’s wailing and screaming.

“Shush Emma…you must be silent. Oh, how I wish my life was perfect?”

A spark strikes and strikes Zelena down. She falls and Emma screams in her arms. Hades runs in and puts Emma into her crib. He comforts Zelena and cries. He shouts.
