The Red Scarf : Poetry Novella

“But . . . but Mummy would never leave”
“If she could have stopped it, I know she would have Hannah”
“No . . . NO! I refuse to believe Mummy did that”
“Hannah, please, you need to understand, she couldn’t have stopped it”
I wanted her to come back
I wanted it all to be one bad dream
I just wanted to wake up from it and run back into her arms

But all I could do was keep sleeping

9. remeber

Once flourishing bright colors, now dull and worn with the years that pass

Beautiful roses and fruit trees, now dead and wilted

All of this I see as I walk down the broken gravel path

The path to my past

. . . to my happiest moments

To the old and worn house of memories

I never wanted to return

I never wanted to remember any of it

I just want to forget and get rid of it all

But I know I have to return here

Return to the past so I can finally let go of it

Release the chains  from my heart

Wake up from this nightmare and finally see the light

The brightness and life of colour,

The lovely warmth of the sun

And I had the key to it in my hands

I just had to do it

I had to finally open that box
