The Red Scarf : Poetry Novella

“But . . . but Mummy would never leave”
“If she could have stopped it, I know she would have Hannah”
“No . . . NO! I refuse to believe Mummy did that”
“Hannah, please, you need to understand, she couldn’t have stopped it”
I wanted her to come back
I wanted it all to be one bad dream
I just wanted to wake up from it and run back into her arms

But all I could do was keep sleeping

11. I loved you

Ten years . . .

Ten years of watching,

Ten years of waiting,

Waiting in the background

Frozen like stone

Unable to speak . . .

Touch . . .

Move . . .

Unable to save you

Save from years of darkness

Years of sadness

Years of rain

But,

The rain finally stopped

The clouds finally cleared

You can see the lights of joy again

Even if I'm not there . . .

One day you'll find me

One day you can meet me up here

We can finally finish the present I couldn't

But until then,

Please,

Please remember,

I love you Hannah, more than you will ever know . . .
