5. The Sorting

The Sorting Hat's song left the hall silent, but Professor Longbottom saved the moment by saying, "Let the Sorting commence!"

"Arientos, Kelsey," said a professor.

"RAVENCLAW!" The Sorting Hat bellowed the second it sat on her head.

Fen got Gryffindor.

When they finally got to me, I was shaking with nerves. "Don't worry, you'll be fine!" Hagrid whispered in my ear. I walked up to the dreaded chair, wondering what I would get.

As a tall, sharp-faced woman sat the Hat on my head, I prayed for Ravenclaw.

The Hat, however, had other ideas.

Hmm. Ambitious and crafty, Slytherin... but plenty smart, as Ravenclaws are... Gryffindor's loyalty and strength reside in you... the Hat mused.

"Better be... GRYFFINDOR!" The Hat thundered. Why was it so fucking LOUD?!

I walked over to the Gryffindor table, shell shocked. Sev grinned at me from across the room. Fen patted me on the back, and kids cheered. But... dad was a Ravenclaw! I was supposed to be in Ravenclaw! I blinked away confusion and sat down. Within minutes the Sorting had finished, and a feast was spread out in front of us. I was sandwiched between James and Fen.
